Jack smiled. “When we get married, they’ll be your family.”
“Too soon!” I told him, even though I was smiling.
“Yeah, I know,” he said sheepishly. “I just can’t help it.”
Then he opened the door and hopped down. I waited for him to walk around to my side, open my door, and help me climb down. He liked to do it, so I figured I’d humor him.
When I was standing in front of him, he put his arms around me and said, “Thank you for what you said.”
“Which part?”
“All of it. I’m so lucky to have you in my life, and I promise you I’ll never forget that.”
“Well, if you’re promising me, I have to believe you. You’ve never made a promise you couldn’t keep.”
“Just that once,” he reminded me, and I put my finger over his lips.
“We’re not remembering that. We’re only remembering the good things in our past.”
Jack nodded. “Okay then. Only the good things.”
“Only the good things,” I repeated, and then I kissed him.
Thanks so much for reading
Promise Me,
my twentieth full-length novel. I really hope you enjoyed it as much as I loved writing it and developing the characters that helped bring the story to life. If you are interested in reading my other novels, they are also available in e-book format online.
Books have always had a big part in my life, and I probably spend way more time reading than I should, engrossed in the stories that keep me captivated. I am a total sucker for romantic comedies in all forms, because at the end of the day I just want to laugh and see some really great people fall in love. When those stories are mixed with an awesome soundtrack, it just doesn’t get much better than that.
In addition to books, I have a serious love for the Florida Gators and the Boston Red Sox, I am addicted to fashion, and I never go anywhere without my iPod. Give me a grande non-fat vanilla latte from Starbucks and chips and queso from Tijuana Flats, and I am a happy girl.
