“It’s been five years. You’re not going to try?” I asked.

I looked for the server. I saw her looking at me and I lifted my empty glass. She smiled, nodded and headed back to the bar. I looked back at Lorenzo. His cheerful demeanor had faded and his expression was solemn.

I sighed.

“Enzo, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.” I tried to explain.

He waved his hand and cut me off. Lorenzo’s wife, Olivia died five years ago. She struggled with breast cancer for years and finally it just consumed her. It was hard on both of them. Lorenzo and Julia. It was hard watching them watch her just fade.

“It’s okay,” he said folding his arms across his chest. “It has been five years but you know…I miss her.” He said.

The waitress came to our table and brought my drink. I leaned back in my chair and took a sip from my glass.

“The hardest part is not getting any,” he said laughing.

He was back to his joking self again.

“I mean,” he said taking a handful of peanuts from the center of the table.

“I am not getting any on a regular basis like you.”

I took another sip from my glass and looked at him.

“I wish it was my wife that was giving it to me regularly.”

I took another drink and just stared at him across the table.

“Not much going on in my house.”

“Really? Wow!” He said raising an eyebrow. “How is the therapy going?”

“Not so good, not much is changing. She doesn’t seem to think that there is anything wrong.” I said remembering our last therapy session.

Even our therapist was getting frustrated.

Lorenzo exhaled noisily.

“So nothing is going on?” He questioned.

“Not a damn thing.” I answered finishing off my drink.

Lorenzo looked at me and stared. He watched me closely.

“What?” I asked.

He leaned back in his chair.

“I am not trying to cause any trouble, but you think maybe she took a page from your book and is getting it from somewhere else?”

I had thought about that myself.

“It would explain a lot, but I don’t think she has time to do anything else. If she’s not planning an event or dinner party she is shopping and if she is not shopping she is having lunch with her girlfriends.”

As the words left my mouth a new thought popped into my head.

“Unless her girlfriends are the ones she is messing around with.”

Lorenzo started to laugh. He was having trouble controlling himself. I was serious so I did not see what was funny. He caught on after a few minutes when he noticed I was not laughing.

“Wait, you’re not joking?”

I shook my head.

“Wow, really?”

“It would definitely explain a lot.”

He shook his head in disbelief.

“Explain what?” He asked cautiously waiting for some juicy tidbit.

I wasn’t ready to admit there were times, in the beginning of our marriage; I suspected Maria may be interested in something other than a straight monogamous relationship. I never mentioned it and after our sons were born there was really no point.

I took another sip of my drink.

“Man, if she is sleeping with her friends, than you are luckier than I thought.” He said laughing.

“Ha ha, very funny. Too bad I am not reaping those benefits.”

“How much longer can you go on sleeping with other women? How long can you get away with this?” He asked with genuine concern in his voice.

I took a sip of beer.

“Not much longer I can tell you that.”

***

Later that night I lay in bed thinking about what Lorenzo said. A man has needs and I knew that my needs were strong and unfulfilled. I turned over and looked at the empty side of the bed where my wife would be sleeping.

She was still gone, enjoying the night with her friends. I am not even sure that I received a ‘Happy Birthday’ call today.

There were so many things that I wanted to say to her but I wasn’t sure if she would even listen. I wanted to tell her how much I loved her but I couldn’t do this anymore.

I wanted to shake her and ask her where the passion has gone. I wanted to know if she knew where we were going.

Does she even care?

I sighed.

I slid slowly from beneath the soft navy down comforter. My feet hit the soft carpet and I walked slowly toward the door. I turned back and look at the time.

2:52 am.

I can’t believe Maria still isn’t home!

I turned the doorknob and walked out of the room closing the door softly behind me. I made my way down the stairs and across the living room into my office. I turned on the lights and headed for my chair. I take a seat and pull open the top drawer of the mahogany desk and slide out a piece of paper.

My hand hesitated for a split second before I picked up the phone. In that split second, I almost changed my mind. I can stop now, destroy the phone number and walk away. A glutton for punishment, I picked up the phone and dialed the number anyway.

I waited a few seconds then the other line started to ring. It rang three times and then she picked up.

“Hello,” she said groggily.

“Hello Maxine.”

There was silence and then I heard muffled sounds

coming from the other line.

I waited.

“Michael, what can I help you with?” She asked softly.

Her voice was low and sensual.

I smiled to myself.

“I’m sorry I woke you.” I said leaning back in my chair.

“It’s fine. Who needs sleep?” She quipped.

I chuckled softly.

“Again I apologize.”

There was silence for awhile. I didn’t know what to say. She was the only woman that has ever left me speechless. I’m never at a loss for words when it comes to the women I have been fucking lately. It confirms to me that I needed something more from Maxine.

Don’t get me wrong, I intended to fuck her every chance I got.

“So, how did you get my number?”

I didn’t know if I wanted to tell her that I searched her online. It didn’t sound very mysterious or sexy.

“Well does it matter?”

She snickered.

“You’re right it doesn’t matter. I’m glad you called.”

I was starting to feel happy that I called as well.

“Michael, you didn’t answer my question.” She said her soft elegant voice breaking the silence.

“What question was that?” I asked.

“What can I help you with this beautiful night, well morning?”

“I wanted to know if you would accompany me to dinner.”

There was a long stretch of silence. I waited for what seemed like forever for her to speak.

“Michael,” she said slowly. “I’m not sure if that’s a good idea.”

“Why not?”

She laughed.

“Well, let me see.” She retorted “I don’t know, maybe because you’re married and…,” her voice trailed off.

I smiled.

“And every time I get close to you I just want to pleasure you in so many ways,” I said finishing her statement.

She laughed.

“I’m just not so sure you are ready for what I have to offer.”

I smiled to myself.

I plopped my legs on my desk and leaned back even further in my chair.

“My dear, I’m not so sure you are ready for me.”

“Then bring it baby.” She replied.

I could hear the amusement in her voice.

“We can turn this into a marathon. I have no problem fucking you all night.” She confessed.

“Oh baby, I love it when you talk dirty.”

I heard her laugh through the receiver.

“I can do much more than talk it.”

I was starting to get so turned on.

“Mmmm, I know my darling. I was a happy participant.”

“So are you available tonight. I could really use a good hard dick inside of me.”

She definitely doesn’t beat around the bush.

I like that!

“Well baby, as much as I would love to come over and fuck you like crazy. Not tonight.”

“That sucks.”

I smiled.

“Look we will have plenty of time for that if you meet me for dinner.”

There was a couple seconds of silence.

“I don’t know.”

“What if I told you that I know a place where we could be together and no one would see us? Would you go then?”

“Michael, dinner is a little too much for what we have here. This was just supposed to be all about sex.”

I knew what it was supposed to be but I was starting to feel that is not what I wanted it to be.

“Maxine, the moment I saw you I felt something unexplainable. I had to know you, explore you. I need to see you again and I know that you need to see me just as much.”

There was silence. I could hear her sigh.

“Look Maxine, I am not trying to force anything on you, but I have to be honest with myself.” I said reaching up to run my fingers through my hair.

“I hope you will be honest with yourself as well.”

I waited for her response. It took a few minutes to come.

“Can I think about it?” She asked softly.

“I have no problem with that. I will call you in a couple of days and I guess we will see.”

“Have a goodnight.” She said and then I heard a click on the other line.

I hung up the phone. I wasn’t ready to go back to a lonely bed so I set in my office for a few more minutes.

After a while I made my way upstairs. I climbed back into bed but I could barely sleep. My mind wandered back to our night together. Her voice brought back so many memories. My mind burned with the recollection and so did my body. I could still feel her hands on me.

I got out of bed and grabbed my lotion. I needed release.

It took only a few moments of reminiscing and vigorously stroking my cock, before I came all over my hand. After cleaning up, I got back in bed. I could hear movement downstairs.

I was in no mood to talk to her. I had to admit, I was angry.

I eventually fell asleep.

Maxine

I officially hate my job.” I said to myself in frustration closing my laptop and placing my head on it.
