“I’m being serious, Kingston.”

“Kingston?” he asked. “You haven’t called me by my real name in a long time.”

“What happened inside?”

“I just told you. So some guards got themselves into trouble. And now there’s some evidence that could help show I didn’t actually do what I said I did.”

“Murder.”

“Revenge,” he corrected.

“You shot someone.”

“That someone shot my brother.”

Those were memories I didn’t want to be reminded of. That was when I thought I was losing King for good. I think I did really lose him then. Maybe even now, even though he was in my bed again.

“Look, I can’t say much else,” King said. “All I know is that I wanted to see you when I finally got out. That’s why I’m here, sweetie.”

“You just want to get laid.”

“I wanted to get laid by you.”

We kissed. A nice loud wet kiss. Then another.
And another.

I touched his face and pulled back. “So what happens now?”

“We sleep, sweetie. That’s what happens. We sleep.”

“That’s not what I meant.”

“I know,” he said.

I swallowed hard. “I can’t get enough of you. How could years separate us yet it feels like it’s been days?”

“Because we’re in love,” he said.

I looked at him. “I swear to you, King, what you thought you saw…”

“I don’t care anymore,” he said. “You did what you thought was right, sweetie. You tried to find someone to make you happy. I was actually kind of hoping to find that. So I could stay away. But then he…”

“Thank you for saving me,” I said. “Nelson gets drunk and mad, but never like that. I was actually breaking things off with him. Trying to talk to him. He didn’t want that.”

“Well, if I ever see that prick again, he’s going to end up on his ass again. You don’t fucking touch a woman. Ever.”

“My knight to save me,” I whispered.

King rolled me to my side. He nibbled at my ear. He threw his left leg over my body, pinning his cock between us.

“Fuck that,” he said. “I’m your outlaw, sweetie, and I’m here to fuck you again.”

And that’s exactly what King did…

T
ITO TOOK
a deep drag on the joint and then offered it to me. I waved a hand. I didn’t touch that stuff. I didn’t need to be mellowed out and lose my edge. Tito sat on the bed with his arm around a pretty woman. He held the joint to her lips and she took a drag. The room was thick with the stinky smoke. Shit, I was going to end up stoned whether I liked it or not.

“I want to teach you something,” Tito said in a chilled voice. “About family. About loyalty.”

“Yeah?” I asked.

I was too young for the Reap at that moment. I was too young to understand a lot of the stuff I had seen in life. But I was old enough to know that my big bro - my fucking hero - was in a tough place. The left side of his face was all fucked up. He had gotten jumped two nights ago. Right outside the house. I saw it from my bedroom window, too. I tried to get outside to help, but by the time I did, the attackers were gone.

Tito told Mom he crashed his motorcycle.

She believed it.

I think for Mom it was easier to believe what she wanted rather than face whatever was happening around her. I hated her for that sometimes.

“Nothing is more important than loyalty and family,” Tito said. “I need you to remember that, little bro.”

“I got it,” I said.

“Good. I know you keep looking at my face.”

“Tito, that was scary.”

“That was life. Sometimes it sneaks up and beats you down. You take the beating. You move on.”

“Who did that to you?”

“Guys that weren’t loyal and guys that weren’t family.”

I shook my head. “So where’s your loyalty and family at? What happens now?”

Tito grinned. “Ah, little bro, it’s all smoothed out. It’s all like a pie in the motherfucking sky right now. Right, sweet baby?”

Tito shrugged his shoulder and the woman he was with let out a giggle.

I couldn’t help but notice the way her obvious cleavage danced when she giggled.

Damn, Tito knew how to get women. All the time.

I was jealous but I sort of didn’t know why. I had fooled around with a couple girls but nothing like the stuff Tito did. He was crazy. He was so cool though too.

“It’s all going to be fine,” Tito said. “You need to know that and believe that, little bro. I’m sorry for what you saw out the window. That was a business miscommunication. But I took good care of that shit though. Nothing like that will be happening again.”

“How?”

Tito put the joint into his mouth. He reached with his right hand and flipped up the blanket at the end of his bed. I saw a handgun and I took a step back.

“Whoa,” I whispered.

“Damn right,” Tito said. “I’m good now, little bro. See, when you take a beating in life, sometimes good shit happens.”

“So that gun is good?” I asked.

“It’ll keep me protected.”

“Wow.”

Tito killed the joint in some kind of homemade claw looking ashtray. He then looked over at his woman and gently kissed her.

“Now, little bro, I need you to go. My woman here is going to take good care of me. And you need to go take good care of yourself. Don’t fucking think about what you saw. Don’t bring that shit up to Mom. I’m protected. Loyalty and family, little bro, right?”

“Right,” I said.

“Good. Now get out.”

I left Tito’s room… not sure what had just happened… so I did the first thing that came to mind.

I wrote Linds another letter.

I
WANTED
to surprise Linds with some breakfast. It had been a long time since I was able to wake up next to her in bed and then go cook her something to eat. It took all my might not to go down on her and wake up her up to my favorite meal for breakfast. But she looked so peaceful sleeping. I couldn’t wake her up.

I kissed her cheek and climbed out of bed.

I put on my jeans so anyone outside the kitchen didn’t see my dick slapping around as I moved through the small apartment kitchen.

I made some coffee and then I set my sights on some eggs.

As I started to heat up the pan I heard a
chink
sound against the window. I looked and saw nothing.

Maybe it was a fucking squirrel.

I heard the same sound two more times, the second time just as I was about to crack an egg.

I walked to the window and couldn’t believe my fucking eyes.

Anderson stood right there in the lawn of the apartment building. A cigarette hanging from his mouth. Two store bought cups of coffee in his hands. He balanced one of the cups on the other. Then he reached into his pocket and took something out. He threw it right at the fucking window.

That was the sound I heard.

“What the fuck is this guy doing?” I asked myself.

Anderson, still balancing the coffees, made a motion with his finger for me to come outside and talk to him.

What fucking choice did I have? I didn’t need him barging into Linds’s apartment, waking her ass up, causing a whole new set of questions. As far as I was concerned, I just wanted me and Linds to have a few good moments together and that was that.

I turned off the stovetop and left the apartment. I was in nothing but a pair of jeans.

I walked from the sidewalk to the well-kept front lawn of the building.

“There you are,” Anderson said. “Brought you something to drink. I’m sure you had a wild night as a free man.”

I backhanded the coffee out of Anderson’s hand. I grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him close.

“How the fuck did you find me here?”

Anderson grinned. “I have eyes on you at all times, my friend. That’s all I can say. I’m happy you and Lindsey were able to get together. You two were always good together.”

“What the hell are you trying to do here? How the hell do you know about me and Lindsey?”

“I’m not a dumb man,” Anderson said. “And neither are you. Which is why you’re going to let me go. So we can talk.”

I reluctantly opened my hand. Anderson stepped back. He sipped his coffee.

He smacked his lips together and said, “Gas station coffee. It’s the worst.”

“What do you want?”

“Just giving you a little reminder of things. I get it, Kingston. You needed to unload your tank. That’s fine. But now it’s time to get right back with your club. I need some questions answered. Understand?”

“You don’t need to fucking remind me,” I said. “I know what I have to do here.”

“Excellent. I was just making my rounds. Maybe I’ll get an apartment here. It’s nice. Quiet. Beautiful view.”

“Stay the fuck away from Linds,” I said. “She has nothing to do with any of this.”

“Except you two end up together time and time again,” Anderson said. “I wonder what she knows…”

I put my finger to Anderson’s chest and pushed. “Hear me loud and clear. Stay away from her or else I won’t help you with a thing.”

“Fair enough, Kingston,” Anderson said. “I will be in touch again very soon. Not too soon. Maybe though.” He drank more of his shitty coffee. “Actually, before I go, I feel I should apologize. Showing up here like that. Unannounced. Creating worry and confusion. How dare I?”

I was perplexed. This guy was three screws loose with another ten hanging by one last thread. Or maybe he was just acting this way to try and mess with my head. If so, it was sort of working.

“What are you getting at now?” I asked.

Anderson reached forward and touched my shoulder.
“Maybe it’s time for you to really learn the truth of your fallen brother, Tito…”

NOW*

I
N MY DREAM
, King was still inside me. Thrusting his beautiful cock. Grinding his sexy hips. Making sure there wasn’t an inch of my body that didn’t feel him.

When my eyes popped open, I expected King to be there, with me, touching me, having me. But to my surprise the bed was empty. I rolled to my side and grabbed at the pillow he had been sleeping with. I buried my face in it and took a deep breath of his sleeping scent.

It made my body quiver.

I climbed out of bed and stood there, naked.

It had been a long time since I slept naked like that. Especially with another guy. I gathered up the long t-shirt and put that on and nothing else. When I opened the bedroom door the smell of coffee hit me. I followed the beautiful smell to the kitchen where I saw a pan and eggs.

“King?” I called out.

But there was no response.

I checked the bathroom, the living room, and there was no sign of King. I went to the kitchen window and peeled the blinds open.

There he was.

In the front yard of the apartment complex without a shirt, without socks. His muscles were so beautifully structured it was like he wasn’t even real. A man stood across from him. Wearing a leather jacket, messy black hair, scruff on his face, holding a cup of coffee.

King grabbed the man’s hand and twisted it away from his shoulder. If push came to shove, King could lay the guy out with a single punch. The man posed no physical threat to King yet King still stood there, listening.

What the hell was this? Did this have something to do with him getting out of prison?

I stood there for another minute or so and then I saw King turn. I jumped back away from the window. My heart jumped up into my throat. I turned and went for coffee. I poured myself a mug and tried to play it all off.

The door to the apartment finally opened and King came rushing inside. He slammed the door behind him and froze when he saw me.

“Morning,” I said.

A smile climbed across his face. “Morning, sweetie. When did you get up?”

“A few minutes ago,” I said.

King came to me, his hands touched my sides, setting my body right back on fire. His morning breath smashed into my coffee breath as we kissed. There was nothing better than a real
good morning
kiss from someone you loved.

“I was going to make us some breakfast,” he said.

“I saw that,” I said. “And I also saw…”

“Fuck,” he growled. “Out the window?”

“I didn’t know where you were.”

“Sweetie, please…”

“Who was that guy?”

King cupped my face. “Do you trust me?”

“What kind of question is that?”

“Just answer it. Do you trust me?”

“Yeah, I trust you.”
I have no reason to trust you, King, but I do. How messed up is that?

“Then trust in that I will tell you everything as you need to know. Right now, I’ve got to get ready and head to meet with the boys. We have some shit to go over. You feel safe here by yourself?”

“Yeah,” I said. “I’m good.”

“If that prick who smacked you even thinks about coming around, I’m going to kill him.”

“I don’t want to talk about him. Now, or ever.”

“Good. Neither do I.”

King moved his left hand from my face to over the coffee mug. He forced me to put it down. He reached down and grabbed the bottom of the t-shirt. Without hesitation he lifted the shirt right up and over my head. Just like that I was naked again. Standing there in my own kitchen.

King’s large hands started at my waist. One hand eased up until he cupped my breast while the other eased down and inside my legs, curling up as he grazed the outside of my wetness. I jumped and gasped when he touched me.

“That’s more like it,” he growled as his lips gently touched mine.

“What about breakfast?” I asked playfully.

King grabbed me by the waist and thrust me up onto the counter.

“I’m going to have mine right now,” he said.

My jaw dropped as he dropped down, his hands gripped at the inside of my thighs, pushing my legs wide open for his nourishment. A second later I felt the flicker of his tongue against my skin. I groaned and grabbed for the edge of the counter, bracing myself.
