Ramone laughed at his baby sister, “I’ve only been out a week. While I was still locked up I got a letter from Mack and Mykell and---
“ she cut him off by walking away and punching both Micah and Mykell in the arm.

“That’s because y’all knew and didn’t tell me.” Then she went back to her brother.

“Now continue.” She said with her hands on her hips.

“Like I was saying Mykell wrote me and told me that you were living here with him and gave me the address, he said he wanted to surprise you on Christmas and I agreed. So here I am,” he smiled at her.

“Oh my gosh dad, you’re really here. Promise me you won’t ever leave me again.” She said in a childlike voice that reminded him that his sister needed him and he needed to get his act together.

“I promise Ladybug, I promise.” He said kissing her forehead.

She went over to Micah, gave him a kiss on the cheek and hugged him tightly. She whispered in his ear, “Thank you Mack.”

Then she went to Mykell and kissed him on the lips before shoving her tongue down his throat. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close.

“You’re the best, thank you.” She told him before giving him another peck.

Ramone looked Mykell in his eyes and he believed him. He pounded fist with him to let him know it was no bad blood.

Noah spoke up, “Yea he won’t hurt her because if he do, I’ma hurt him.” He said half-jokingly.

“Pop-Pop.
Did you know to?” she asked.

“I plead the fifth.” He laughed.

MJ walked up to Neicey and hugged her leg. “Mommy does that mean that he’s my uncle?”

“Yes baby, this is your Uncle Ramone, Ramone, this is MJ.” She introduced the two

“Well now that that’s over, let’s eat.” Micah said. Everyone laughed.

Everyone was at the table eating and having a good time, laughing, talking and just enjoying themselves. Ramone looked at his sister and could tell that she was genuinely happy. He decided to get up and give his thanks. He stood up and asked for everyone’s attention.

“I just want to thank you all for taking in my sister and treating her like family. When I got locked up, I felt like I failed her because I told her that I would always be there for her and protect her.I admit, when she first moved down here and told me about you Pops, I was a little jealous because all her life I was her dad. Then she met you and told me you were like the father figure to her and she really looked at you like a father. Then I realized that I played the father role for so long that I actually started believing that I was her father. I had to keep telling myself that I’m only her brother and I want you to keep being a father to her, well to us, because I never really had a father either. Once again thank you.” He said before sitting down again.

Neicey got up and went to sit on her brother
’s lap like she used to do when she was little and kissed him on the cheek.

“That was really beautiful Ramone, and I want you to know that no matter what you’ll always
be my dad. You’ve been more than a brother to me and no one could ever replace that. Pop-Pop is like a father to me too because he shows me nothing but love and treats me like his blood daughter. I’ll always be your Ladybug and you’ll always be my Dad, til we take our last breath.” She said saying the oath they took when their mother passed.

He hugged his sister then kissed her forehead. “I love you Ladybug,” he said.

“And I love you too punk.” She laughed.

Then
, ‘This Christmas’ came blasting through the speakers and everybody was dancing and singing. Mykell disappeared for a minute to get Neicey’s last present. He looked at the 10ct purple princess cut engagement ring one last time sure that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He didn’t care that they had only been dating for a couple months; she gave him something precious and that meant alot to him.

He wanted to do things the right way so he pulled Ramone into the kitchen to have a word with him. “I know that me and you sister have only been together for a couple months and you don’t really know me like that, but I want to make things official with her. She may be young but that don’t mean nothing to me, she’s my heart and like I said, I would never do anything to intentionally hurt her. Yea we had our problems in the beginning, but we got over that so I wanted to know if it was alright that I ask your sister to marry me.”

Ramone could tell that Neicey and Mykell really loved each other, so who was he to come between them.

“It’s cool with me, you have my blessing. Just do right by her and love her, that’s all I ask," he answered.

They went back into the living room with everybody. Mykell got down on one knee and opened the box, Neicey’s back was to him so she couldn’t see him. Le’Lani, gasped and put her hand over her mouth. Neicey turned around to see what was wrong and almost fainted.

“Reneice, I know that you and I have had our fair share of problems in the beginning of our relationship, but I love you more than words could explain. My son loves you and you love him just as much. I just wanna show you that I can be the man that you need me to be, so I guess what I’m saying is Reneice Laila Peak, will you marry me?”

Reneice didn’t know what to say, she had to pinch herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Then she looked at her family with her eyes ending on Ramone, he nodded his head in approval. She turned back around to Mykell and yelled, “YES!”

Mykell
got up, placed the ring on her finger and she jumped into his arms.

“This is the best Christmas I’ve ever had," she smiled happily.

Chapter 7

Kya had been sitting around in a bad mood for the past couple of months. She hadn’t heard from Mykell since the day she got into it with Reneice at the store. She couldn’t believe he was throwing everything that they had, all the years, all the love away for someone who just popped up. It seemed like all the years she invested went down the drain. She tried everything to make him see that she was the one for him, but it was all in vain. She decided to put her plan
B in motion. She pulled out her phone and sent a simple text.

Ever since Christmas, Reneice had been walking around on a natural high that she didn’t want to come down from any time soon. She had her brother back, the man of her dreams, and the perfect son that she loved dearly. Everything was going right for once in her life and she couldn’t be happier.

Reneice got off the couch and stretched “I better get home to my man and son.”

“I been meaning to ask you, does little man ever see his mom or does she ever come around?” Ramone asked concerned.

“Nope, all I know is that Pop-Pop took MJ away from his mom when he was 9 months old and kept him until Mykell got out of prison. Other than that I don’t think he’s seen his mother since, and that was five years ago.”

“Well I’m happy that you’re stepping up and filling that void he feels.”

“It’s nothing, I loved him before me and Mykell got together and I’ll love him if we don’t work out for some reason. Now let me get out of here and get to my other two favorite men."

She hugged her brother and headed for the door in her new Beamer. She stopped at the gas station to get some gas before heading home. She went inside to pick up some snacks and get MJ’s favorite candy, skittles. She was about to head to the line to pay for the things when her phone rang, she smiled because she knew it was Mykell; his ringtone was
