She smiled through her tears. "And they lived happily ever after?"

"Who can say until the ends of their lives, when the full tale can be revealed?"

She brushed the tears away and propped herself up on her elbow to glare at him. "That's a lousy way to end a fairy tale!"

Damián shrugged. "I'm pragmatic."

"Well, I'm an incurable romantic. I'll finish the tale."

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she opened them again, she guided Damián to lay flat on his back and pressed her cheek against the head of the dragon. He made a pillow of his arm and waited to hear her vision for their future.

She cleared her throat. "The lonely princess found the love of her life in the heroic peasant and soon discovered he was really a noble knight who had been imprisoned at a young age by an evil dragon that should have been destroyed before he could hurt anyone else."

Her description of Teresa's father, Julio, was pretty accurate. Damián had been thrown in juvie for beating the man who had nearly killed Rosa, only to wind up being the one punished. Life wasn't always fair.

"While the knight continued trying to make people think he was a peasant, those who knew and loved him saw the truth in his demeanor and actions. He married the maman-princess and protected both of his princesses, as well as the other children the knight and his lady were blessed with, for the rest of their lives."

He grinned. "And they lived happily ever after?"

Savi lifted her head and stared at him. "Yes, but that doesn't mean everything was perfect. There were times when the knight had to draw his sword and fight other cowardly dragons that tried to devour the princess and her knight while they slept."

Damián's eyes began to burn. She'd better not make him cry, or he'd haul her ass over his knee. He was still her Top.

"But the silly dragons didn't realize they were up against
two
powerful warriors now. The knight fought with the sword, while the princess could knock a dragon on its ass with her magically powerful feet and legs."

He chuckled. "I think the knight got knocked on his ass once, too."

"Shhh. Don't interrupt."

He swatted her ass and the smack against her bare skin made him realize they were lying in a cave on a public beach totally naked. Oh, well. He wasn't going to interrupt this tale again for anything. He wanted to know how it turned out.

"Besides, the knight needed to learn that his princess was a worthy warrior who would protect his child with her life."

Damián wrapped her in his arms and held her close, resting his chin on the top of her head, so she couldn't see the tears in his eyes. Savannah had done that with Marisol, and he had no doubt she'd do the same for any other children they were blessed with.

"After a while, the word on the street where the dragons hid was that this couple and their extended family members weren't to be messed with. The dragons became less and less powerful."

She placed a kiss on his pec, on the face of the dragon. "Princess Marisol made a pet of one of the baby dragons, and it grew to protect the young princess when she went away to college or was away from the knight and his lady.

"Heaven help any of the knights who come anywhere near my doll-baby princess, too."

"Our princess might not marry until she's thirty."

"Or forty."

They were both lost in their thoughts for a moment as Damián started to worry about how he was going to keep Marisol safe from the knights who might want to hurt her. Maybe she needed to have some martial-arts training.

"Sir…Damián."

"Yes,
bebé
?"

"That wasn't a question. I was just trying it out to hear what it sounded like. Sir Damián."

His heart thudded against his chest. Was she still lost in the world of make-believe? He didn't realize he was holding his breath until his chest began to burn. Still, she hadn't said. "Well, how did it sound?"

"Nice. I think I like it."

"Is that the end?" If so, it was a lousy way to end the story. Where was the happily ever after she wanted so badly?

Savannah pushed herself up and knelt beside him, her knees spread to where he could see Chiquita peeking out. She sat on her heels, back straight, head bowed, and hands resting on her thighs. He hadn't taught her yet the kneeling position he liked for his bottoms, but she'd perfected it. Karla must have been instructing her in more than…

"One day, in a secluded cave by the peaceful sea, the princess had come full circle. She willingly submitted her body and mind fully to her noble knight. But not her heart."

She looked up at him and he blinked away the sting in his eyes.

"Because she'd surrendered her heart to him, long, long ago."

About the Author

Kallypso Masters is still a perfectionist and will upload corrected versions of all of her books as typos and errors are discovered—so before you reread any of her books, e-mail or check with her to see if there updates.

Kally writes emotional, realistic romance novels with dominant males and the women who will bring them to their knees. She also has brought many readers to their knees—having them experience the stories right along with her characters. The Rescue Me series begins with
Masters at Arms
, a free e-book introduction to the series. All of the main characters from
Masters
will have significant plots and subplots in the remaining books in the series. They must be read in order to be able to follow these men and women on their journey. Each Romance novel features a primary couple's romance, but major events in the lives of other characters in the series also occur withint each book. In addition, Kally knows that Happily Ever After takes maintenance, so her couples don't disappear at "the end," but continue to work on real problems in their relationships in later books in the series.

Kally has been writing full-time since May 2011, having quit her “day job” the month before.
Masters at Arms
was her debut novel (published in August 2011), followed by
Nobody’s Angel
in September and
Nobody's Hero
in December; and the long-awaited
Nobody's Perfect
(September 2012). Next in the series is tentatively titled
Somebody's Angel
, a continuation of Marc and Angelina's story in
Nobody's Angel
. These two came up in the writing of
Nobody's Perfect
and threw me for a huge loop with an issues Marc and I had no idea about before. I decided they would be a distraction from Damián and Savannah's story, so I decided they would become the next book in the series. The storyline for that book will parallel the one in
Nobody's Perfect
and you will see glimpses in this book that there are some problems for the couple, but Damian has his hands full and isn't privy to all that's going on. (Rest assured that Adam knows, though, and will play a role in Marc's next story!)

After that, I think we'll go on to
Nobody's Dream
(Luke and Cassie's story) and
Nobody's Home
(Mistress Grant and Liam's story). There will be others for years to come if they keep showing up at the club or in these people's lives!

She's excited to announce that she's working on bringing the first three books in the Rescue Me series to print by the end of the year. The books will be available at Amazon and possibly other booksellers.

Kally lives in rural Kentucky and has been married for 29 years to the man who provided her own Happily Ever After. They have two adult children, one grandson due any day, one rescued dog, and one rescued cat.

Kally enjoys meeting readers at national romance-novel conventions, book signings, and informal gatherings (restaurants, airports, bookstores, wherever!), as well as in online groups and chats. She hopes to meet you in her future travels!
