After the prayer, Jason hopped around his room like a frog. He pretended his bed was a lily pond.

When Grandma peeked in, he shouted, “Er-rib-bit! For-give-it?”

She sat on the bed. “That's an interesting word.”

“Oh, Grandma, I'm sorry I didn't obey you. I got out of bed and watched a scary monster movie and . . .”

“I know you did, dear,” she said calmly.

“You do?”

Grandma nodded. “You didn't expect me to sleep through all that roaring, did you?”

Jason grinned. He should have known. “Well, I'm sorry. And that's the truth.”

“It was a hard lesson,” Grandma said. “And goodness me, what scary music!” She put her hand to her forehead.

Jason gave her a big squeeze. “Oh, Grandma, I love you!”

Later that night, Jason fell asleep thinking about his visit to the pet shop. And his half-priced frog—a valentine gift from Grandma.

But when he dreamed, it wasn't about frogs. Or scary snow monsters. It was
about grown-ups. Grown-ups like his mom and dad.

And tomorrow, they were coming home!
