“The company will have to find a way to give Ms. Jones a special thank you. Look into the missing money. Inform me of any new information the minute you receive it.”

Niko turned and left the room. Dee would be safe working and he needed to see Aran.

Their offices were new. There had been a fire in the last building they had rented. Not only was their office damaged, but others had been hurt also. They had gotten together and made a joint decision to relocate into a building that would only house them.

They had found an old building that wasn’t being used. They bought it and had it remodeled. Aran had wanted it done in a month, no contractor would take it unless they agreed to three months and that had been with crews almost working around the clock.

The contractors had called Aran crazy. They had called all the brothers crazy and then proceeded to cuss, and at times scream, because of what the brothers wanted done. Even with all the drama, they had come in a little under the three month deadline.

This was exactly what they wanted. The security was impeccable. They wouldn’t have it any other way. He stopped, allowing his presence to be felt at Aran’s closed door, before reaching for the knob.

There was a muted come in, followed by a giggle.

He walked in to see Rena, Aran’s mate, seated on his lap.

“Niko, how are you?” Rena waved and smiled at him.

“I’m good, Rena. Looks like you’re good, too.”

“Excellent actually.” She wiggled on Aran’s lap before getting off. “I really should get back to Hale. We’re working on some computer upgrades. Will you be over tonight?”

He’d not been around much since Dee’s kidnapping had happened all those months ago. His brothers were worried, but hadn’t approached him yet. Rena had mentioned several times that she missed seeing him around.

He always thought it was interesting that she even knew he was missing with the way she was with Aran. He pulled himself in, acknowledging the shaft of jealousy he was feeling.

He didn’t want Rena, nor did he have any desire to be Aran. All he wanted was —. He wouldn’t think about it. Suppressing a growl he turned his thoughts in a different direction if he dwelt to long on Dee he might march into her department and drag her out. Not the way to win a human female over.

“Rena, tell Hale I said hi and I’ll see him later. I won’t be at dinner tonight, I’ve some things to do.”

She nodded, then leaned over to kiss Aran before leaving the room.

“It must be nice to have a mate?”

“It is. You’ll understand soon.”

“Thank you for the encouragement, but we both know Sergey was the next born.”

“This is earth, not our planet. We’ll mate in the order we meet our mates, not the order we were born in.”

“You think that is true?”

“I know it’s true.”

Niko nodded, “I spoke with Vance.”

“And?”

“I don’t believe he’s misappropriating funds. What worries me is that he didn’t discover them missing on his own, Dee had to bring it to his attention. She was able to do this without having access to the other sites.”

“How is it Vance is in charge?”

“I wanted Dee to have some time, after what happened.”

“What should we do next?”

“I want to leave Vance in charge. Whoever is taking the funds, feels comfortable with him there.”

“What about Dee? Rena won’t be happy if something happens to her friend. If Rena is unhappy —.”

All the brothers wanted Rena to be happy. It made their days so much easier.

“I did say we’ll have to find a way to thank her, but I made it a point not to acknowledge her while I was there. I would like her to work on the problem from the inside.” He would have to think on that later.

“Niko, how long will you keep following her?”

He was in charge, so of course he knew. He kept track of all of the brothers. How he did it now that he had a mate, none of them were sure. Aran was the first born. He took to the role of being the eldest brother.

If Niko was being honest, he would acknowledge that it was nice to know Aran had his back. He wasn’t being honest. He was upset.

“Would you like me to leave her to wander the streets alone at night? Would that make Rena happy?” Not that he was doing this for Rena.

No, he followed that little ball of fire around because he couldn’t help himself. “I want her safe Niko, you know that. I also want you safe.”

“I can only be safe if Dee is.”

Chapter Three

‘It’s Friday. It’s Friday.’ The lyrics from that song ran through Dee’s head as she left work. It was Friday. No reason to think about numbers or ledgers or diminishing bank accounts for two whole days. She’d no problem doing that math.

She got into her red charger and let out a sigh of relief. She loved this car with its strong lines, and the power at her fingertips and the way it roared like a well satisfied-man, when he spilled into you. This car was all about muscles and power.

She started the car, feeling the rumble between her legs and gave a small moan. Her car satisfied her more than most men, not that she was willing to broadcast it. She pulled into traffic, allowing the day to wash over her.

Vance, her clueless boss, had spent the day watching her as if she were the thief or had somehow threatened him. Niko had been a no show since he left the office. You would think he would at least say hello to her. It’s not like he didn’t know her.

She’d spent the rest of the day pouring over receipts and balancing the money, making sure everything from her sites was accounted for. A nice long boring day.

Ok, her pussy had throbbed all day long and her clit wanted to be sucked something fierce. She had Niko’s smell in her nose and it wouldn’t go away. Her over riding fantasy was that he would come into the office, sweep the papers off the desk and fuck her hard on it.

Bad girl Dee, she chastised herself. She didn’t want nice love making with big smiles and soft moans and promises of love forever, which sounded boring. She wanted something that would flare hot and bright and sizzle her in the process.

She pulled herself together and got out of the car. She really needed to stop living in a fantasy world. Women like her never got the right man.

She opened the door to her apartment and sighed in disappointment. She always harbored the vain hope that when she came home and opened that door, a sense of accomplishment would come over her.

She lived in a beautiful and expensive apartment in Shadyside. Her mom would’ve been so proud of her if she could’ve seen the place. It was clean, not immaculate like Rena’s place, but Rena was a neat freak.

Dee had treated herself to expensive furniture and knew lots of people who would kill to live here. She barely saw it when she walked in. The place left her cold, but it was home.

She walked past her bare walls and into the bedroom, which had pictures of her and Rena hanging out. Was it weird their pictures were in here instead of the living room? Not really. Here was where she spent most of her time. All she had was her best friend, so she hung the pictures up here.

Tonight there would be no forcing herself to try and sleep. No wandering the streets until she ended up in SB’s. Tonight she would go out, hit the town. There was a new club in the Strip. It was supposed to be hot.

She would go there and allow the desperate men to buy her drinks in an effort to get her drunk and take her home. She would even give one lucky man his wish and go home with him. All she wanted was a big cock to pound into her and make her forget.

Pain, monsters and insanity, all things she wanted to escape for a night.

The exhaustion afterwards, not the illusion of pleasure during, was what she was after.

Kicking off her shoes, she leaned over and looked at her pedicure. She was good. Her mani/pedi was still kicking butt. She stripped and threw the clothes into the hamper, before entering the bathroom.

What she wouldn’t give for a bubble bath. The tub she had was too small for soaking, and getting into it, only made her mad. Walking to the mirror, she looked at herself. She really needed to remember to eat.

She loved her breasts. They were her best feature. She wasn’t large like Rena, but she wasn’t small like some. She was carrying around a perfect set of D’s. They were round and firm and she loved them. She had been known to caress them just because.

Everything else on her was small. Her waist. Her height. Even her ass. Really, would a nice round ass have been too much for the Lord to bless her with? She guessed a perfect ass and chest would’ve been too much for the male population.

Smiling, she headed for the shower. She closed her eyes and stepped under the spray to let the cares of the day wash away. She could see her mother standing before her, accusing her.

‘Where’s your man, Dee? You’re still not married.’

She’d turned thirty one two months ago. Her mother had made it known that if you weren’t married by thirty, your chances of getting married dwindled something fierce. She never believed that. Still, her mother’s words haunted her.

Don’t want to marry, mother dearest, she said to herself. Don’t want to go crazy like you did or allow someone to abuse my child. She felt the words ‘like you did’ hovering on the side of her mind, but they were left unsaid. Finishing her shower, she reached for her towel.

She still remembered the first time she woke up with the feeling of someone standing over her bed. Her mother’s boyfriend had been in her room. He was breathing heavy and stroking himself. Her mother came running when she screamed get out.

Her mom had pushed him out of the room then closed her door. Then she’d come back and knelt over Dee. She raised her hand and smacked Dee across the face.

‘Keep your little hoe body to yourself, Dee. Understand me?’

She’d nodded her head quickly and her mother left, making sure the door was closed behind her. Dee had cried herself to sleep.

The next morning her mom had given her two cookies with her cereal. Her mom didn’t believe in sweets. They rotted the teeth and made pretty girls look like fat pigs, those were her mom’s words.

‘I’m proud of you, Dee. Soon you’ll be pretty enough to find a good husband to take care of you, just don’t use that body on my man again. Got it?’

She’d nodded her head and looked at those cookies. That was all she could focus on. She nibbled at them all day. Someone at school had tried to take them from her. She stomped them. No one ever wanted to fight her again. She’d only been eight.

She pulled her mind from her past. The past couldn’t hurt her. It was the here and now that terrified her. The now was filled with monsters. She’d been kidnapped. The target had been her best friend, Rena. Dee had been used as bait. That’s when she’d learned that there were real monsters in this world and she wasn’t talking about mankind. She clutched at her head as her knees grew weak and dropped her to the floor.

The pain she felt seared through her brain as the images of death and mutilation were displayed for her in vivid color. She opened her mouth to scream, but no sound emerged.

She banged her head until the peaceful blue carpet in front of her and not a headless body came into focus. Clutching her bed, she pulled herself up. It was time to get ready. Desperation was driving her to leave quickly.

She needed an outfit, one that would make a married man leave his wife. Even though she never messed with married guys. She was always happy that someone had missed the curse that plagued her.

She wanted to be hot enough to go home with the right single man. She toyed with the thought of pretending to be submissive, a Dom may be what she needed tonight.

She had no visions of pleasure, but a little pain might make her forget the monster who kidnapped her. It might also make her forget Niko.

She wanted Niko like bears wanted honey. Actually she wanted him more than that and that’s why she stayed away. He would be bad for her making her want to change her mind about men and relationships. He could destroy her and she was destroyed enough already.

Niko who had blonde hair and sea blue eyes. She loved that combination on him. It was like someone had deliberately messed with his DNA to get that color of blonde with that color of sea blue.

He could be a model. He was that hot. She grabbed her short black skirt, the one with all the zippers on it and paired it with a top that stopped at her belly button. It had two zippers placed strategically over her breasts and they did open for a peek a boo look at the girls.

Stilettos, because she could wear them. She wondered if she could get into a good restaurant looking like this and decided no, so she would skip dinner tonight. She promised herself that she would eat tomorrow.

She did her makeup and looked in the mirror. She was hot. Some man would make her forget. Life was good.

She looked at her ringing phone. Rena. She pushed the button to ignore the call and tried not to feel guilty.

Chapter Four

Dee walked into the club, knowing the crowd would be thin. It was still early. She hated to start trolling this early, but if she hadn’t left her place when she did, she might have gone crazy.

She loved the sound of the click of her heels on the hard wood floor and the look on the other women’s faces as they made quick work of letting her know which men were taken.

She was hunting and the women were aware of it. The men were aware of it too. They followed her legs and the bounce of her firm breasts. Come to momma boys. Tonight I get one of you.

The bar was angled to the right of the door instead of being in the middle. It meant that the bartender was safe with his back against the wall. He also had a chance to see who was coming in, although that was the bouncer’s job. The bouncers were damn fine too, if you liked your men big.

She liked her men to have the physique of a professional swimmer. Nice, hard and wiry, much like Niko.

She walked up to the bar to order a drink. The bartender walked up. He was nice, but too young. Still, he was tall and muscular, a nice dark chocolate mix. It had been a while since she’d been with dark chocolate and hey dark chocolate wasn’t fattening.
