Charts of the voyage are also contradictory at this point. Thus d’Auvergne’s chart has the course turning first southeast and then west on 7 and 8 August, while the ‘Plan of the North East Lands and Seven Islands’ shows the ships proceeding northeast before turning west (William L. Clements Library).
