NBUTTON MY JEANS
and pull my dick out,” I order in bold terms.
“Okay.”

Bending a little, her hair falls around us as she works at the buttons. I lift my hips and shove my jeans and boxer briefs down to my ankles. “Sit.”

Her wet panties and hot pussy come in contact with my dick and I bite off a groan. With two hands I grab one side of her panties and pull hard, satisfaction welling when I rip them. I pull the rest of the material away, fling them across the cab, and grab the base of my dick.

“Ride me.”

Clutching my shoulders, Brooklyn lowers herself onto my cock, her bare walls surrounding me. I close my eyes and let my head fall back. “Jesus. You’re tight.”

She wiggles her hips slightly, making a little noise as she does. “I can’t… I’m wet but you’re… too much,” she gasps as I thrust up and open my eyes.

“That’s all I need.” I work the rest of the head in, watching her tits as they sway with the movement. “I won’t come in you, and I’m clean. Swear to God.”

Her face pales, as if she just remembered we’re not using protection. “I’m…I don’t have anything.”

That’s all I need to hear, I thrust up, gaining another inch. She moans in response. “Bounce up and down on me. Tease me.”

She rocks her hips, making my eyes water and my legs kick out to find purchase. Her pink nipples play peek-a-boo with her hair and her shirt. Her lace bra hangs loosely until I fasten it again, thrusting her perfect tits high while I tuck the cups under them.

“That’s it, baby,” I murmur, my hands coming around her hips to help her move. “Get me off. Make me come. When I do, it’ll be all over your pretty tits.”

I swear her pussy gets even wetter.

“You like the thought of that, don’t you?”

She whimpers in response, and I push in further. “Want more?”

“A lot more,” she says.

I start breathing extra hard when she starts clenching at my dick. “Greedy little pussy.” I look to where we’re joined. To where the head of my cock is inside of her. Her juices run down the side, all the way to my balls as they start to gather. I’m close. So fucking close that I don’t want to pull out. I want deeper. I want—

My orgasm shoots out of me and by the time I pull out of her, I’m already coming. Roaring her name, I splash her belly and tits, just like I promised.

As I try to catch my breath, I hold up my hand to her lips. “Taste us.”

Her little pink tongue darts out, licking me and moaning. If it were physically possible for me to orgasm in this very moment, I would.

My head clears as she climbs off me and begins to wipe off the mess I made. I sit there, unable to move as the enormity of what I just did to her hits me.

I treated her no better than any of the women who paid for my time. I was rough, dirty, and fucking hell, I came all over her beautiful skin—not that I’d done that with
any
woman before. But the action combined with everything I said and made her do disgusts me.

Fuck.
She doesn’t know about the other women. She doesn’t know what I used to do.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
I have to tell her. She deserves to know the truth.

Panicking, I open my window and turn the a/c higher. A cold sweat breaks out on my forehead even as hot sweat rolls down my back.

I scrub at my face, and then glance at her, wishing like hell I never took her on a date. I’m barely mussed while Brooklyn looks like I’ve fucked her seven ways from Sunday.

“I think I got most of it,” she says, meeting my gaze.

“Don’t worry. You can’t mess up my truck.”

“I wasn’t worried, but now I am.” She withdraws slightly, buttoning her shirt and tugging down her skirt. Not until she grabs her torn panties and attempts to stuff them into her purse do I spring into action.

“I’m sorry.” I grab her arm, taking her chin between my fingers and forcing her to look at me. “I’m sorry. I was rough and dirty and…if you don’t ever want to see me again, I understand.”

“I don’t understand,” she says. “But if that’s what you want, then I’ll go inside. I’ll get Rowan to pick me up or something in the morning to take me to work.” She’s out the door before I can stop her.

Hurrying to pull up my boxer briefs and jeans, I don’t bother to button them as I cut the engine and jump out. “Wait.”

Brooklyn ignores me. She walks up the steps and to the front door.

“Damn it, Brooklyn. Don’t take another step,” I shout, running to her.

Taking her by the shoulders I spin her around, only to find tears running down her face. “I took a chance on you and you broke my heart.”

“Broke your heart?”

“Y-yes,” she sniffs. “Do you think I would have done that with someone I didn’t care about?”

“No,” I say. “You wouldn’t have, but I need to explain something to you.”

“Yeah, yeah,” she says miserably, “It’s not me, it’s you.”

My heart slams against my chest so hard that I almost stop breathing. “Don’t say that shit. It
is
me, and when you find out why, then you won’t want to talk to me, much less do anything close to what just happened. Not that we need a repeat.” I run a hand through my hair. “I didn’t treat you right.”

“Stop saying that,” she shouts. “It wasn’t dirty or sordid or…any other word that isn’t hot or sexy or wonderful. I’m fragile not broken, just like you said. Or was that a lie?”

“It wasn’t a lie.”

“Then what is?”

I shove my hands into my pockets, looking down at the floor. “Promise you won’t shut me out until you hear everything?”

“Yes.”

“Then let’s go inside.”

Brooklyn

HAT KIND OF
explanation could Parker have that would make him look so ashamed? If anyone should feel guilty, it’s me—for not feeling guilty at all.
I unlock the door and open it. “After you.”

Hands still in his pocket and his gaze downcast, he walks inside. I follow after him, not bothering to change. I’m wet, a little sore, and sticky, but there’s no way I’m taking a shower without hearing his explanation first.

Suddenly, Parker scoops me up in his arms. “You need a shower and so do I.”

“I thought you wanted to talk.”

“In the shower.” He flashes me a grin, but it’s sad. “Besides, it might be the last time you ever let me touch you.”

TEAM RISES TO
the ceiling as I undress. Parker watches me for a second before he steps closer and pushes my hands away. He makes quick work of the buttons on my shirt.
“When I was fifteen, I got a job to help pay the rent. It was either that or be kicked out with my brother and my new baby sister. Plus, we had to eat. Teenage boys like to do that.”

I smile a little at his joke.

“But bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly wasn’t enough, so I got a second job bussing tables at this really nice restaurant in town.”

My stomach flips and dread begins to coat my insides with lead, rooting me to the spot while Parker unzips the side of my skirt. It falls to the floor, along with my shirt and bra.

Taking my hand, he leads me into the shower and shuts the curtain behind us. Hot water runs over me and his arms come around me, holding me tightly against his body. His clothed body.

“Don’t you want to undress?”

He kisses the top of my head. “Not yet.” Then he begins to wash me with gentle but efficient movements. He soaps up my hair and massages the shampoo in, before turning me away from him.

“Anyway, one night I was working and this woman at one of the tables noticed me. She waved me over, and asked if I liked working there. Of course, I said yes, because I needed the job.”

“Did she offer you a job anyway?” I lean my head back as he rinses of my hair. He’s so careful and tender with me that I want to cry, but I can’t, because my tears won’t help. I think they would make things worse.

“Yeah. The first time I went out with a client, it was an older woman—a grandmotherly type. She was nice and all I had to do was stay by her side unless she needed something. I thought I could handle that, you know?”

I nod, closing my eyes. I know what’s coming.

“And the money…” He whistles. “For the first time in my life, we didn’t have to move, didn’t have to worry about someone showing up at our door demanding what was owed them. But then, my mother got in with the wrong guy, got hooked on some bad shit, and almost overdosed. Cole was working with our uncle at The Double Deuce. I was the one to take her to the hospital, and help check her into rehab. Miss Violet watched Kelly for me, so I could take Crystal to that fucking place.”

I can only imagine a boy of fifteen, struggling to help his family, feeling like he was doing something good, only to have the rug pulled out from under him again.

“I called Crystal’s parents, but they wouldn’t take my call. They didn’t give a shit about her, but I still did, and I knew Kelly needed her. I thought that if I could get Momma the help she needed that she would stop leaving us, and pick better men. But all that came with a price tag. So, I went to my boss at the agency and asked for more hours. To this day, I can picture her sitting at her desk. The calculating look in her eyes. The slash of crimson on her lips.”

Despite the heat from the water and Parker’s body, I shiver.

“Cold?” he murmurs absently, rubbing my arms.

“No.”

“Good.” He kisses the top of my head. “You know what the biggest difference is between me and Braden?”

I don’t want to know. I don’t. I don’t want to hear any more of this heartbreaking story that is his life. Tears are running down my cheeks for me, for the man holding me, for his family, and especially for the boy who had no other choice.

“No. I—”

“When he sold his body to Uncle Sam, it was for a good cause. No one expected him to perform like…” Parker’s voice fades away and he shudders against me. “I sold my body, Brooklyn, to lonely women with a lot of money. I did everything to them, and had everything done to me except the final act. That was one thing I kept on my terms, and I performed my job for all the right reasons, over and over, until I paid off all of Crystal’s medical bills. But it doesn’t make me less of a whore. I know I should have told you sooner. I should have admitted the truth about myself before I ever put my hands on your body, but I couldn’t. I was selfish. I wanted you, and I tried to stay away. Fuck, I tried.”

His fist slams against the wall. “I tried, Brooklyn. But I’m fucking tired of trying. I’m fucking tired of doing what’s expected of me. I’m just tired.”

Turning in his arms, I wrap my arms around him and stroke his head, his damp hair curling around my fingers. “Hush. It’s okay to be tired. It’s okay. I promise. It’s okay.”

He buries his head in my shoulder, his tall body leaning on mine. I can barely stand the heavy weight of him, but I will, because I had so many do it for me in the past, because they loved me. They still love me, I have friends here who care for me…friends like Rowan, and even Parker, who showed how much they cared in their actions. And I—I…
love
Parker. I love him so much that I’ll help bear the weight of his burden.

Y THE TIME
I get my shit together, the water is cold and Brooklyn is shivering in my arms. “It’s okay,” she whispers. “Keep leaning on me. I’m in no hurry to go.”
“Sweetest woman on earth,” I say before turning off the water. “Let’s get dried off.”

Nodding, Brooklyn gets out of the shower and grabs two towels while I strip off my clothes. She walks to me, running the towel over my head and down my shoulders, before I take it from her.

“I’ll get this,” I say and give her a hard kiss to let her know I’m not rejecting her. She finishes drying off and brushes her teeth, before looking at me expectantly.

“You go warm up the bed, and I’ll be there in a minute.”

Hope gleams in her eyes, something I never thought I’d see after confessing my dirty little secret to her. “You’re staying,” she says firmly.

“If you’ll have me.”

“There’s an extra toothbrush in the medicine cabinet.”

I smile at her, taking in her beauty. “Inside and out,” I say to myself, before raising my voice. “Go on. I’ll be right behind you.”

I brush my teeth and rinse my mouth out at least ten times before I go into the bedroom to give her enough time to put on pajamas, stay nude, or kick me out of the house. But when I walk to the bed, she’s sitting in the middle, combing her damp waves.

“Let me,” I say, and she hands me the brush. Settling behind her in the bed, I pull her toward me and begin to brush her hair, starting at the top.

Mmm
. No one’s brushed my hair since I was a little girl,” she says with a sigh.

“I’ve been brushing a little girl’s hair for a while now, but since she’s moved, I don’t get to do it as often.”

“Lucky little girl to have you as her big brother.” She falls silent again. “Have you talked to anyone, like a therapist, about what you told me?”

“No.” What would I say? “Besides, I’m pretty sure prostitution is illegal in North Carolina.”

She turns toward me, concern etched on her face. “But you were a kid…those women, including the ones who took advantage of you, deserve to be held accountable.”

“I wasn’t…” I let my words trail away. No wonder she has so much sympathy for me. She thinks this is something that happened in the past and not a job I recently quit. Dropping the brush, I rub the bridge of my nose.

“Parker, I know you think the worst about yourself, but I don’t. You were just a kid trying to help your family. You didn’t know any other way out of it. It’s not your fault,” she says, mistaken my silence for embarrassment. Rising to her knees, she leans toward me, cupping my face in her small hands. “Thank you for trusting me with what happened to you.”

Her sweet, heartfelt words are killing me inside. I can’t speak. I can’t hardly breathe. She needs to know the truth, just as much I need this look in her eyes. I need her sympathy and loving attention, because that’s exactly what she’s giving me.

I know Brooklyn cares about me—from her words to her actions—she’s shown it. This is as close to love as I’ve ever gotten.

“You poor thing.” She presses a kiss to my lips, and then sighs, looking down. “I’m being too pushy, aren’t I, with my whole quest for justice for you? I’m so sorry. I’ll just—”

“No.” I gently grab her chin and lifting it to force her gaze to mine. “You aren’t doing anything, but being you.”

She gives me a crooked smile. “You sure?”

“Positive.”

With a little sigh, she wraps her arms around me, and lays her head on my chest. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone what you shared with me,” she whispers.

God have mercy on the asshole who ever tries to take Brooklyn from me, because I won’t.

I wrap my arms around her small body and kiss the top of her head. “I know.”
