So was this a sympathy fuck or were you trying to screw me into submission?” he asked, looking at her.

“
What?” she asked confused.

“
What was this? Were you just trying to get me vulnerable so you could let me down easy, or were you trying to get me on your side of things?” she asked. Desiree shook her head.

“
You throw a fit every time my past comes to light. Put yourself in my shoes and tell me what you would do if some guy you did not know about claimed to be my husband and I looked like I was not doing anything about it.” she asked before getting up.

She walked to the bathroom and started the shower. As he lay there listening to the sound of the water splashing against the bathroom floor, Taylor knew she was right, and he had been too self-absorbed to see what was happening. He got off the bed and made his way to the bathroom. He opened the door and stood there for a long minute looking at Desiree. Her body looked exceptionally beautiful as the water flowed down her tawny curves. He walked in and wrapped his arms around her.

“I’m sorry,” he said in a whisper. “I love you and you love me back. That should be enough for me,” he said as he held her tightly. He could not imagine losing her. It had taken a long time before he finally found someone he felt this way about, and he was not about to let a stupid mistake cost him this amazing woman. “I will see a lawyer first thing tomorrow morning. I never want you to feel like you don’t matter,” he said in a whisper.

Desiree nestled her wet body against his and smiled to herself. Better days lay ahead, she thought.
