Whispering into my ear, "Because…" He pauses and takes a few deep breaths as if psyching himself up.

"Because Hope I like-like you." He pulls back slightly to see my reaction.

My mouth forms an ‘o’ and my eyebrows remain furrowed "What about the girl?" I ask.

His shoulders drop, moving his hands to his face and he lets out a short laugh.

"You still don't get it?!" He says as if speaking to himself, and rolls his eyes.

"Hope." He says placing his hand on my cheek.

"I was talking about you" He says almost shyly.

I couldn't believe my ears.

He has to be playing some kind of prank on me.

He seems disappointed by my reaction.

"Is this a joke or something?" I almost yell with tears in my eyes, as I stand up.

He seems shocked and shakes his head.

"Did Ricky told you I was crying, so you thought you would play a prank on me?" I yell with the tears now falling down my cheeks.

Nate quickly stands up. "No, no, no Hope. Ricky never said anything." He said, looking sad.

"I really do like-like you. It's no joke or prank or whatever you want to call it." He said putting his hands on my face and wiping my tears away with his thumbs.

He spoke with so much honestly, I felt like crying all over again.

Before he had a chance to say anything else, I stood on my tiptoes as he was much taller than my 5ft. 5 inches frame and stole a single kiss.

A single sweet kiss.

"I like-like you too." I reply making him smile.

With that he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine again.

But this time it wasn't just a single kiss.

The kiss was sweet and soft, full of so much love and passion.

I felt so happy in that moment, although my heart was still going crazy, as well the butterflies in my stomach.

I wrapped my arms around him, while he placed one hand on the back of my neck and the other running through my hair.

Before long we had to break away to breathe.

Now with his arms around my waist, he was holding me close.

We leaned our foreheads against each other and smiled.

"I really do like you Hope." Nate whispers as if scared I might not believe him.

I kiss his cheek and smile "I know. I like you too." This makes him grin widely.

Only then we notice a person standing watching us....

CHAPTER NINE

Clearing things up

Hope

Standing just in the entrance was not just Heather, but also Dean.

I took a quick step back from Nate.

Heather mouth hung open, while Dean looked like he was ready to kill.

I turn to Nate, who opens his mouth to speak, but Dean cuts him off first.

"Don't even bother." He growls in a menacing tone and then runs from the house.

I was about to run after him and explain, but was stopped by a hand on my shoulder.

I turned to see Nate standing shaking his head.

"Er just leave him alone for a while. He'll get over it." Heather suddenly piped up in a cheery voice.

I felt my nerves get the better of me as I asked "What d..did you see?" Stuttering the word did slightly.

A huge grin appeared on her face and she raised her eyebrows.

"Judging by Dean's reaction, enough." I heard Nate mumble.

Heather laughed hearing him.

"But what I wanna know is why you two are here alone?" She asked in a teasing tone.

"The others went shopping and I didn't want to. So Nathan said he would stay with me because Kira's gone all over board on mother mode and won't let me stay alone" I explain, barely pausing for breath much to Heather amusement.

"I bet he did" I heard Heather say under her breath so I wouldn't hear her, but I did.

I raised my eyebrows and gave her a questioning look.

But she didn’t answer, only grinned more.

I had surprisingly somehow forgotten Nate was in the room for a moment.

Well at least until I felt an arm snake around my waist, causing me the jump.

Heather laughed at this, whilst walking over to the sofa and sitting down still watching us with the movie still playing in the background.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." I felt shivers of pleasure run down my neck as he whispered into my ear.

"Um it's ok. I just kinda forgot you were there for a second." I said truthfully, earning me a laugh from the siblings.

I lowered my head to hide my embarrassment, but Nate quickly turned me to face him.

Lifting my face up to his, he said in his deep lustful voice. "You are so beautiful."

He said it will so much love and honestly I felt as though my knees would buckle.

'This can't be real' I told myself internally. 'I must be dreaming'.

We both stood looking deep into each other’s eyes, slowly moving his gaze to my mouth.

I did the same and we both began to lean in closer.

"This is better than a movie." I heard an amused voice say.

"I know, tell me about it." said a second sounding equally amused.

"How long they been like this?" the first voice asks again.

"Umm, I'm not sure a while" the second said in the thinking tone.

We were both awoken from our trance by two voices and pulled back.

'Wait

Go back

Two voices?

Was Dean back?'

As if thinking the same, we both turned to see not only Heather but now Matt sat on the sofa.

Not only that.

Standing in the doorway was Kira and Ricky.

"I leave you alone with my sister for one minute and when I get back you’re" Ricky growls angrily before Kira cut him off.

"You are such a cute couple!" she said with tears in her eyes.

Ricky glared at her. "Are you serious?"

Nate seemed to blank out the rest off the conversation, spending the time instead watching and studying me.

I didn't notice at first, well at least not until I felt his arms tighten around my waist, making me look back at him.

"Let's go for a walk.so we can talk about things?" He said turning the last part into a question.

I nod and sneaked out of the room via the back door, bypassing Ricky and Kira who were still 'talking'.

Heather watched them, while Matt noticed us walking around and sent us a wink, making Nate roll his eyes.

Standing outside I lead him over to a bench which was located under a willow tree in the most southern corner, the tree slightly hiding the bench from view.

Making it a perfect place to have our talk, whilst also hiding from my brother until he calmed down.

Sitting next to Nate, it was only now when what we did hit me.

I sat looking at my lap, nerves suddenly going into overdrive,  while Nate sat watching and waiting for one of us to say something.

"So" I said breaking the now uncomfortable silence.

I saw a small smile appear on Nate's face.

"Yes, so"

I finally looked up and turned to him.

"So what are we? Um I mean do you want to be with me or?" I rambled out with my nerves showing in my voice.

Nate wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Hope what would you like to happen?"

I could tell by his tone he was just as nervous as me.

"II really do like you" I started "But I don't want you to feel like you have to date me or be nice to me or something just because"

I was cut off from my ramble by a pair of luscious lips hitting me.

I reacted to them almost instantly, whilst threading my fingers through his hair.

The kiss was powerful, but sweet.

It only lasted a minute, when Nate pulled away.

As he did I felt myself begin to pout slightly in disappointment.

He smiled at me, whilst rubbing his fingers down my cheek.

"I am so happy you feel that way." He said giving me a heart-stopping smile.

"Because I really truly like you toovery much." He said the last part in a whisper, but I still heard him.

"Really?" I asked, still unable to believe.

He nodded still with the same smile, the one that made my heart swell and feel as though it would jump through my chest.

The one that made whole body buzz and my stomach flutter.

The one I haven't seen since before he started to bully me.

I smiled back and stole another kiss much to his surprise.

He grinned widely. "I could get used to that." He said, making me blush.

He placed his hand on top of mine on my lap.

"Hope I know I don't deserve it, but I really do like you and even though I might not have acted like it in the past I always have." He confessed.

"Please just give me a chance to prove it to you and let me take you out tonight?" He asked in a pleading voice.

"Like a date?" I wanted to verify.

"Yes a date." He looked at me expectantly.

I didn't need to think twice, but I wanted to know what he meant by what he just said.

"What did you mean when you said 'even though I might not of acted like it in the past I always have'?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.

Nate's mouth opened like a fish and closed multiple times before answering.

"It's true. I'm sorry. But I really have always liked you" he answered honestly.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion "Then why did you bully me?" I asked meaning to sound strong, but it came out more like a whimper.

He sat facing me looking deep into my eyes and I saw sorrow and regret.

"I know it doesn't change anything, but it wasn't meant as bullying when I did that. I only meant to tease and I thought"

He paused again, rubbing my hand. "It sounds dumb now that I think back, but I thought you would find it funny and would like me more." He says almost shyly averting his graze from mine.
