The Blood Brothers, to my knowledge, didn’t operate in this part of the country. But they never forget anything, and I knew that at this very moment, they were asking around and looking in every nook and cranny to try and find me. I might have to skip this town too, and maybe even leave the country.

Why couldn’t I have just manned up and killed her?

Chapter 7 – Rose

Another week, another paycheck. Yet as I left my office with Luciana, I felt nothing but defeat. We had been cooperating closely with our media contacts, the FBI, and half a dozen police departments across the Midwest and the Deep South to dig up any information on the killer. So far, all we knew conclusively was that he was a man, that he was most likely from the Milwaukee, Chicago, or Detroit metropolitan areas, and that he had been linked to deaths spanning from the Pacific, to the Atlantic Ocean. This person had been to cities all over the country and was responsible for assassinations on behalf of virtually every criminal syndicate in existence. After his latest killings, he had gone dark and seemed to have vanished off of the face of the Earth.

Besides these scant facts, we had nothing else to work with. There were no solid leads from anyone. Every criminal in custody either had no knowledge of the killer, or had completely shut down and refused to say anything for fear of being offed for snitching. We had one survivor, an 11 year old girl, but she had yet to say a word. It was a miracle that she wasn’t in a coma, and the trial she was supposed to testify at was indefinitely postponed. If we didn’t get results fast, the defendants, a group of bikers who had done everything to deserve going to jail for the rest of their pathetic lives, would go free.

This was not a great way to feel when just beginning my new career in the justice system. Luciana didn’t seem to let any of that bother her. She had been talking for days about making plans to let loose on the weekend. I told her that unfortunately, I already made other plans and we would have to have a girls’ night out some other time. She was disappointed, but brightened up when I let her know I was going on a date.

“So who’s the lucky dude?” she kept asking me. “Got any sexy photos of him for me to check out?”

“Not yet, you perv,” I retorted. “He’s just someone I met who lives near me in the same apartment. He was a jerk at first, but then I got to know him, and he’s not as bad as I thought. Actually, he’s really easy on the eyes.”

Luciana looked even more intrigued. “Now I
really
want him to sext you.”

I tried to change the subject. “Why don’t you go out with your boyfriend of the week?” I could never keep track of who she was dating.

“I’m taking a break from meeting men, for your information,” said Luciana. “And speaking of good news, have you heard what happened to your piece of shit ex-husband?”

I tensed up. “No, what?”

She pulled out her phone and showed me a headline, accompanied with a photo of a bruised and bloodied body. It took me a moment to recognize Ricky. “Local man beaten and severely injured, identity of attackers unknown,” the title read.

“Now we have a reason to get drinks and celebrate,” chirped Luciana as I skimmed.

Seeing Ricky come within an inch of dying made me a bit happier, though a little sad too. As awful as he was, even he didn’t deserve that much pain.

“Charming,” I remarked. “I have to get home to prepare for my date. I know this is short notice, but can you watch Jessica and Amber for a few hours tonight? I’ll owe you dearly for it.”

Luciana sighed and pretended to be fed up. “Fine. By the way, what’s this guy’s name? Do you even know what he does? You know, I just hope he’s not a serial killer.”

“He’s Robert. And he’s a personal trainer, I think. I’ll call you if anything comes up. I’ll try to come home by midnight.”

“Have fun on your date. Just remember not to have too much fun. You’ve already got your hands full with two kids.”

I playfully pushed Luciana. In my head, though, I knew that she had a point. Robert was a real piece of work, and I had to restrain myself.

Dinner that night went beyond all the expectations I had, which were honestly low to begin with. Robert grilled steaks for us, and he was an expert at it. He insisted on staying in for our date, which I found a little odd, but agreed to.

We had whiskey and beer, and I definitely drank too much. I laughed and giggled more in one night than I had in a year. Try as I might, Robert never told me much about himself. He always liked to steer the conversation towards anything but his own life. He preferred talking about movies, hunting, and so many other topics that he was informed about, and he would never talk much about his past.

I was working on my third glass of Jack Daniel’s when I felt a very soft brush across my cheek. I knew what it was, but I still looked to check. Robert, who had been putting away more alcohol than me, was taking my face into his hands.

I didn’t recoil or stop him. It felt amazing.

For a brief time, it felt like I had drifted out of my own body. I was dimly aware that Robert was bringing my face closer to his, and that he kissed me. His lips were soft, full, and carried the accumulated flavor of meat, spice, and alcohol that we had been sharing that evening.

I leaned in, careful to not be too forceful, and we put as much passion as we could into our kiss. We made out like this for an interminable amount of time. We exchanged positions, sometimes with him hovering and pinning me down on the leather couch, and other times, I’d be draped over him. Our arms and legs explored each other’s skin, and we tried to make the emotions last as long as possible.

But both of us wanted more. And I decided that I would lead us to the next stage.

I broke the kiss. His expression showed the dismay of ending our kisses and the glee of knowing what was about to happen.

“Bed?” I gasped out.

All he could do was nod, but his eyes communicated how much he was restraining himself from just taking me on the couch.

He picked me up, cradling me with one hand on the back of my neck and another hand hooking over my legs, and threw me onto the disheveled sheets of his bed. As I lay panting, he climbed over and looked down, then continued to press his lips to my face, covering every part of it. I did the same, wanting to taste as much as I could.

We helped each other strip down, and a few clothes ended up torn and ruined because of our haste. I pulled off my red short dress to reveal that I wasn’t wearing anything else underneath.

It looked for a second that Robert’s eyes would fly out when he saw me naked for the first time. I smiled and winked at him, and reached down to drag away his pants and boxers, which he gladly stepped out of.

We wasted no time in uniting each other’s bodies, and we rolled fiercely around. He smothered my neck with his lips, and I reciprocated. He took my breasts, stomach, and feet in his mouth, and finally spread me wide open to lick up my labia. For a brief eternity, I lay back as Robert rekindled a fire that hadn’t burned in ages. His fat and juicy tongue lapped up, down, and in every other direction over my vagina, invading it and pulling out, then repeating. I got wetter with each passing minute.

He stopped suddenly and looked towards me. “Are you ready?”

Now it was my turn to just nod. I could no longer wait.

Even as he aimed his penis into me, I helped by moving forward, and he collided with so much passion that I screamed in joy. We rocked in unison, and cried out to release our ecstasy. Robert kept his firm grip on my arms, moving as rapidly as a piston in and out. I scratched my nails down his ripped back, and he slapped his hands over my behind, increasing the pain and the pleasure.

Eventually, we ended up standing, and I was upside down feeding on the veiny shaft and cradling his balls with my hands. Meanwhile, he lapped and sucked on my anus and vagina as he groped generously on my back.

The night passed too quickly, and as dawn spread its sunlight, we were lying in blissful exhaustion together. The size of everything about him terrified me somewhat. With minimal effort, he could have broken me and bent me into any position he desired. Yet he was gentle through the entire night.

Instead of cuddling as I had secretly hoped, however, Robert turned to one side and fell asleep almost immediately. I tried to change that.

“Robert, do you…”

He opened his eyes wider. “That’s not my name,” he mumbled.

“What?”

As if he’s uttered an awful racial slur, Robert gave me a look intending to apologize. “Never mind,” he grunted, and his head hit his pillow again.

I was more confused than ever. Even after everything amazing that had happened that night, I was no closer to knowing Robert any better. He was handsome, seductive, and fascinating, but too much of an enigma. I sometimes had no idea what to make of him.

As he turned over to one side, I flipped over to stare at his enormous back, drifting off to deep sleep and filling my head with questions and ideas.

Chapter 8 – Luciana

Rose was out on her date with the guy next door, and she asked me to babysit her daughters while she was gone for the night. While there are a million other places I’d rather be on a Saturday night than on an unpaid babysitting job, I didn’t mind in this particular case. Rose is such a good friend of mine, and her kids are always adorable.

After making them some of my famous pasta for dinner, and giving them a bath and helping them brush their teeth, we were snuggling on the couch and watching TV. I really wanted to see this heartthrob Rose had told me so much about, but I knew there was no way I could walk over and knock on their door. Rose and Robert needed their privacy. I smiled as I thought of what they might have planned for the evening.

“When is mommy getting home?” Amber asked me for what may have been the billionth time. Kids, even after getting the same old answer to the same old question, still repeat them.

“Soon, honey, but only after you and your sister go to bed,” I replied.

“When can we go to your house again?” asked Jessica. She was the older daughter, and was louder and more outspoken than her younger sister. “Our house is a dump. Your house is a palace.”

I laughed softly. What she said was true, though quite blunt. I had a small but cozy home of my own in Buckhead, and it felt like a different planet compared to the neighborhood Rose and her daughters lived in.

“Maybe next week, but right now both of you need to go to sleep. It’s way past your bedtime.” I escorted them to their beds and tucked them in. Then I went to the kitchen to have some wine.

At first I thought about lying down on the sofa, but the bed would feel so much better. Rose and I were so close that I knew she wouldn’t mind if I slept on her bed for one night. I set my iPhone alarm and climbed into her bed. I was out in minutes.

My iPhone buzzed and rang, jolting me out of my sleep. I yawned and stretched out on the bed. The clock on the phone read 6:30. I wasn’t so used to rising this early, but I noticed how quiet the apartment was, and that made me curious.

I walked around, checking the bathroom, kitchen, and living room. They were all empty. Rose was nowhere. She hadn’t come home all night, apparently.

So she must have still been with Robert. And I knew that meant that she probably had a good date. I smirked. I felt happy for her. Now I was really interested in meeting this new guy.

Suddenly, I heard my phone ring. I strolled back to the master bedroom and picked it up.

It was Rose. I slid my finger and put my iPhone to my ear. “Hi Rose, you stud. How did your date go…“
