“That’s not what I need to talk to you about. Sit down.” He gestured to O’Dovey’s unmade bed. Sarah took a seat and crossed her legs, showing a little modesty at least.

“Word is that you met with someone yesterday morning. You picked up a package and delivered it to your sister.”

Sarah’s face drained of color.

“Did you really think you can come and go without someone knowing your activities?”

“But why? I’m nobody.”

“Nobody with suspicious activity. Was it drugs?”

“What? No!” But she looked away.

Jamison pinched her chin between his fingers and thumb and turned her to look at him. “No lies, Sarah. This is serious shit. You know the Hell’s Sons don’t deal with drugs. We do everything we can to keep them out of the club and this town.”

“And you think I’d give my baby sister drugs?” Sarah’s blue eyes were wide with horror.

“It looked that way.”

“To who?”

He didn’t respond.

“It was O’Dovey, wasn’t it? That fucker thinks he owns me. If he’s been tailing me—”

Jamison rolled his eyes and released her chin. “As long as you’re in this club, you know the rules. Now give it to me straight. If you weren’t giving Sissy drugs, what was in the bag?”

Tears welled in Sarah’s eyes and spilled down her cheeks. “I promised I wouldn’t tell.”

Jamison’s patience was waning. He had a naked woman in his bed, and he damn well wanted to put this questioning behind him. “Promised who?”

Sarah didn’t speak.

Outside the door, a voice raised. Ever’s.

“He’s in here?” The doorknob turned, but he’d locked it. She jiggled the handle, and something smashed against the door—probably her shoulder.

“Let me go, Blake!”

“Fuck.” He strode to the door and cracked it in time to see Ever wrap her arms around Blake and kiss him. Jamison watched her lips move over his brother’s, totally unconcerned because Blake’s boat didn’t float for women. Ever could crawl onto his dick, and he’d be limp as a noodle. Jamison knew Blake’s type. Unfortunately, it was Jamison.

Ever broke off the kiss and looked triumphantly at Jamison.

“Get her to my room,” he told Blake, and shut the door again.

Ever’s cries sounded all the way down the hall, and then were cut off as Blake shut her in Jamison’s room.

Sarah gaped at Jamison. “She was just kissing your brother.”

He waved a hand. “Better than her finding me locked in here with a naked woman. Now tell me what the fuck is going on.”

The door shook as someone kicked it.

“Shit.” He sighed. “I’ve gotta handle this. Get dressed and keep Romano’s cock out of your pussy. This conversation isn’t over.”

In the back of her mind, Ever knew she was losing it. She was going apeshit over a man she hadn’t wanted in the first place. But when she thought about Jamison being taken away from her, her heart cracked open and poured out all the emotion she felt for a man she hadn’t known very long.

And she wasn’t about to put up with cheating.

She kicked and scratched at Blake, who plucked her off her feet and strode down the hall with her. Her bare foot caught a picture frame, sending it crashing to the floor.

Jamison’s voice sounded behind her. “Get her in my room and sit on her if you have to.”

Blake’s laughter sent Ever over the edge. “Let me go! Son of a bitch.” She gathered spit in her mouth, ready to propel it, but Blake ducked his head and pressed his lips to hers.

Right the hell in front of Jamison.

Still kissing her, Blake kicked open the bedroom door. Jamison followed them in and closed the door.

“Put her down.”

Blake withdrew from the kiss, grinning like a fool. Ever smacked him across the face. “Don’t ever do that again.”

“Why not, love? You kissed me without asking first.”

“I won’t be passed around,” she cried, jabbing a finger at Jamison.

He didn’t respond to her, just flicked his jaw toward the door, indicating Blake should leave.

She grabbed the tequila and washed his taste from her mouth. Damn him.

And damn Jamison for driving her so crazy. She’d been down this road with Stone before and refused to relive it. He’d cheated on her from the start. She’d scoffed it off as a club guy thing. They all did it.

But soon he’d started suggesting she give herself to some of the guys, and he was willing to share. She fought like hell to stay out of those situations, but when Stone had found her in the arms of one of his brothers, he’d shot the guy dead. Then he’d smacked Ever until she was curled on the floor to avoid his blows.

Only when one of the guys pulled Stone off her did he stop. After that, he’d been so possessive and controlling she wasn’t allowed to leave the house. If she raised her gaze and looked at a guy, he’d terrorize her by threatening to kill the man and then her.

Jamison leaned against the door, staring at her.

She quivered and lowered the bottle from her lips. “I don’t know who you were in that room with, and I don’t wanna know. Tell your prez I’m not doing this ‘investigation’ for him. I won’t be returning to the club.”

She grabbed a boot and shoved her foot into it. Then the other. After she slung her purse over her shoulder and tucked her leather jacket under her arm, she held out a palm to Jamison. “Give me the ring.”

His eyes were calm, but a vein ticked on his temple, drumming with danger. She stood her ground.

“The ring,” she bit off.

He shook his head and clenched his fingers. “You’re jumping to conclusions.”

“Forget the ring. I’m leaving.” She gripped the doorknob, but Jamison covered her hand with his. Leaning near, he grazed her neck with his lips.

“Don’t go, baby. This thing between us isn’t finished.”

“I say it is.” She steeled herself to keep from jumping into his arms.

He skated his lips over her neck to her shoulder. “If I have my way, it won’t end, Ever. I’m not a cheater. I didn’t lie to you. I left this bed for club business, and as soon as I cleared it up, I was coming back to this bed and sink into your tight pussy again.”

Her legs threatened to sag, and she locked her knees.

“Come to bed with me. We have a few hours before…”

She turned to him. “If you let me go, I won’t be going on that mission.” Jamison had fought hard to keep her from doing this thing. If he cared for her, he’d let her go—keep her safe.

But she needed in the Raiders’ club anyway.

He locked an arm around her waist and jerked her against his hard chest. Every muscled inch of him called her to some higher plane. Her body screamed out that it belonged to him.

She turned into his hold, burying her face against his neck. He exhaled slowly, as if in relief. They stood like that for a long time. Finally, she pressed a kiss to his throat, right above the leather. “Happy birthday.”

She was in a bad place.

Jamison’s skin crawled as he watched Ever scale a stack of pallets on the backside of the Raiders’ club. Jamison jammed the binoculars into his eye sockets, heart thumping.

Blake was behind the wheel of the van, ready to break for it if necessary, and two more guys were in the back, but none of them believed Ever wouldn’t succeed.

They’d told her to pretend her car was broken down, and she needed some help from the Raiders. Another tactic had been her using her body as a cover, saying someone had called for entertainment.

She’d refused both of those ideas and said to leave it to her.

Now Jamison was sweating bullets.

She disappeared from his sight.

“Goddammit.”

Blake remained silent. Jamison had three weapons on him, two of them loaded for bear, and a long knife. If he had to storm that clubhouse to protect his woman, he was sure as hell going prepared.

One of the top pallets crashed to the concrete, splintering. A guy jumped out of the garage door, rifle aimed at the place the pallet had fallen. Jamison’s heart stopped. He curled his finger around the trigger of the shotgun held upright between his thighs.

Blake placed a hand on his. “Not yet. Give her a chance.”

“I can’t fucking see her!”

“I know, boss. But she’ll handle it. We’ve got to trust her.”

“Why are we letting her do this? Fuck Strother and his initiation bullshit. We wouldn’t send another woman in there.”

Blake nodded. “I think that’s why Strother did it. He knows Ever is hiding something.”

Jamison gave a begrudging nod. “Yeah.”

She was a total mystery to him, yet he didn’t care. He’d keep her safe no matter what. In time, she’d learn to trust him and spill her story.

The gunman circled between the pallets and the building.

At that moment the only thing that kept Jamison from jumping from the van and storming with guns blazing were Blake’s words.

“She’s a damn good kisser, man.”
