“What’s up my nigga!” Dream exclaimed
the second Bam-Bam answered.
“What up dawg! How you over there feeling, Bro?”
“I’m good, I’m good,” Dream lied. “My eye still fucked up though. But I can see out this bitch so that’s all that matters.” There was a lot of background noise on Bam-Bam’s end. Dream could hear children crying and someone yelling for their mother. “Man, I catch you at a bad time?”
“Naw you good. Just g
imme one minute. I’m about to switch rooms.”
“A’ight.”
Dream took a few more puffs of the blunt. She inhaled deeply and then expelled the smoke.
“Okay I’m back. Had to move around from them hollin’ ass kids in there.”
“Where you at, B?”
“Over Trena’s and shit. She cooking a nigga up some grub.”
“That’s what’s up.”
“Man, back to that bitch Cheryl
though.” Bam sounded hyped about the whole thing. “Ain’t that shit crazy dude?”
Dream listened intently as each hit of the blunt took her further away from reality.
“It’s like they did that shit to you and look what happened to her ass. That’s karma man. That shit will get you every time.”
“Hell yeah it will. Like they say,
karma’s a bitch!” Dream laughed at the irony.
“Bro, you already know if I would have been there that night that shit wouldn’t have even went down like that. I keep my heat on me s
o somebody would have caught a couple of slugs,” Bam-Bam said confidently.
“I already know you would have been down for a nigga,” Dream stated without question.
“You damn right! You fuck with my bro, you fuck with me!”
The phone went silent as Dream pondered
whether she should confess her little secret. After all, Bam-Bam was speaking her kind of language so it wasn’t like they weren’t on the same page. Even she knew Cheryl had the shit coming to her.
“I couldn’t fight all
of them bitches off of me but I know I landed a couple of mean left hooks on that fat bitch.”
“
Hell yeah you did. I heard you fucked Rhonda off something serious. They say that bitch nose broken,” Bam-Bam laughed.
“Man, I tried to knock it
clean off her face!”
Bam-Bam was rolling.
“Bro, who around you right now?” Dream asked.
“Nobody, why what’s up?”
“I got something I need to tell you.”
Dream didn’t think Bam-Bam had noticed the change in her tone but she had.
“Everything straight?”
“Yeah, yeah. It’s all good. I just gotta tell you what’s up on something.”
“Shoot.”
“Well you know what happened to Cheryl right?”
“Yeah. She got hit by a car.”
Dream showed no remorse as she took another hit of the blun
t. “Well, uh … that shit wasn’t no accident.”
“Foe real? What the hell happened
to her then?”
Dream
could sense Bam-Bam’s confusion. She licked her lips and puffed out her breasts bound chest, keen to exemplify how superior she felt―like a man.
“
What I’m about to tell you need to stay between you and me,” Dream told her straight up.
“
It ain’t leaving this phone.”
Hesitation rode Dream’s
confession like a cowboy on a steel horse.
“I killed her,” Dream admitted.
“Get the fuck outta here!” Bam-Bam sounded surprised and caught completely off guard. “Tell me you bullshittin’ dawg.”
Dream’s silence sealed her admission.
The next thing Bam-Bam said was, “Whoa! You serious?”
“Hell yeah! I killed that bitch and I would do it all over again
if I had to.”
There was an eerie silence, but nonetheless
, a small weight off Dream’s shoulder. She felt relieved that she was able to confide in Bam-Bam. She could only hope that it wasn’t a mistake.
