Continuing to ravage Cal’s mouth and stroke his palm over his throbbing bulge, Tucker humped his hips forward again as the primal desire arcing through him drove his movements and relentlessly demanded release.

But suddenly Cal was fisting his hands in Tucker’s jacket and pushing him back with a low growl. “Let me at least get you back to my damn house, kid,” he ground out.

Tucker swallowed thickly and tried to catch his breath. “I’ve been waiting so long for this, Cal,” he panted, on the verge of exploding, “Please tell me you live close.”

“Not too far,” Cal said, bringing a hand down to readjust himself in his jeans. “But I’ll make you a deal.”

Tucker sat up a little straighter, intrigued.

“You keep yourself busy doing what you were doing,” he rasped, “and I’ll keep busy driving, and we’ll be there before you know it.”

Tucker nodded eagerly. He couldn’t turn down a deal like that, even if he wanted to.

They traveled back down the mountain, passing over the snow-covered road with an exchange of heavy pets and lingering strokes. A breathless litany of moans and gasps bounced off the warm confines of the cab of the truck, and by the time he pulled into the driveway of Cal’s house, they were nearly delirious with overwrought but unreleased passion.

Tucker sat back in the seat, fighting to catch his breath, to see where they had stopped. He glanced out the frosted and fogged windshield and saw a rustic and beautiful log cabin surrounded by a dark glen of pine trees. A singular porch light bathed the front of the house in a warm glow, painting a welcoming and homey picture. And just like the man who lived there, the home was solidly built, ruggedly handsome, and a place Tucker could see himself falling in love with—and, in all honesty, already had.

He looked back to Cal sitting beside him. “Didn’t seem like we were driving for very long at all,” he said, hooking a finger in his jacket to try to release some of the heat that had been building from their trip down the mountain.

“I was really just down the road from where you were stranded,” Cal chuckled with a shake of his head, reaching for the door handle. “Plus time flies when you’re having fun.”

Tucker smiled. He couldn’t really deny that fact.

Opening the driver’s side door wide and turning to hop down from the cab, Cal said over his shoulder, “If you let me get you inside and warm you up, we can find out how much fun we could
really
have.”

Tucker was out of the truck and climbing the porch steps before Cal barely set his feet on the ground. The heavy crunch of booted footfalls in snow and the sound of a low, rumbling chuckle came up rapidly behind Tucker, and then he was nearly being tackled as Cal wrapped his arms around him. They stumbled their way to the front door, with Cal unlocking and then opening it in almost one breathless move.

Bursting through the entryway, Cal crashed his lips against Tucker’s as soon as he spun him around and pushed him up against the nearest wall. He ravaged his mouth in a hectic press of tongue and teeth, and Tucker’s knees buckled. It all seemed so surreal to him, and he couldn’t help but wonder at the sense of humor Fate must have. He never thought he’d see Cal again after what happened, and now here he was, standing in his cabin, having only broken down mere minutes from his house.

Tucker didn’t have much time to dwell on the coincidental nature of it, though, because as soon as Cal starting ripping his clothes off one article at a time, his brain sputtered out and shut down. He was reduced only to feeling and sensation and pure, unadulterated desire.

Cal’s tongue was suddenly licking a white-hot stripe up the side of his neck, and Tucker reached his hands out, stripping him of his coat and shirt and pants and boots as quickly and efficiently as he himself was undressed. He ran his hands over every bare inch of heated skin he could reach with his hurried touches, pressing his whole body against Cal’s and relishing in the violent shiver he elicited.

And then their mouths came together again, eager and searching, tasting deep and long, their bodies rubbing and rutting until they found themselves at a couch in the center of Cal’s living room. Tucker, who was normally very timid, pushed Cal down onto the plush cushions without a second thought. Ceaseless arousal thundered through each nerve ending, and he fell to his knees, spreading Cal’s legs wide.

Cal threw his head back against the couch with a loud moan as Tucker leaned forward and swallowed down nearly the entire length of his cock. He hummed with satisfaction around the straining flesh crowding his mouth and wrapped his fist around the base of his own aching member, giving it a few deliciously torturous pumps.

Flattening his tongue along Cal’s shaft, Tucker slowly began to move, sliding up and down a few times, just enough to slick up the skin before pulling off with a loud, wet pop. Cal started to protest until he saw Tucker was now climbing up into his lap.

Straddling Cal’s hips where he sat, Tucker aligned their cocks side by side and wrapped them in both fists. Cal’s hands immediately flew down to the tops of Tucker’s thighs and he dug his fingers in tight, his depthless blue eyes never leaving Tucker’s face. They quickly built a beautiful rhythm, with Cal thrusting his hips up at the same time Tucker sank down, and it was not long until Tucker was positively desperate for release.

He moved one hand up to Cal’s shoulder to better leverage his thrusts, locking his gaze with Cal’s at the very moment he finally felt his orgasm rushing forward. His body tightened against Cal and he stuttered out his name in a broken cry, curling forward to bury his face in the sweaty crook of Cal’s neck as he coated his belly and chest with his spend.

Cal came only a fraction of a second behind Tucker, groaning loudly and bringing his arms up to wrap tightly around his back as he spurted his release over the firm grip of Tucker’s fist.

Tucker immediately sank down against Cal, completely drained of any and all strength, his chest heaving with breathless pants. Cal’s arms held him close, and for a long, quiet stretch of time, he just lay there, skin to skin, relishing in just being able to have Cal so near to him, and in so many more ways than one after all this time.

Nuzzling closer against Cal, Tucker settled his head down on his sweaty chest, listening to the steady thud of Cal’s heart under his ear. “How did you end up in Aspen?” he asked, genuinely curious as to how they both seemed to be in the same city at the same time.

Cal shifted beneath him, loosening the grip of his arms around Tucker’s back slightly. “My uncle passed away the week after you flew for Boston and left me his mechanic shop. It’s right up the road from here. You probably passed it on your way up the mountain and didn’t even realize it.”

Pulling back, Tucker looked up at Cal with wide eyes. “You mean I drove right by your house not more than two hours ago? You realize that if my car didn’t break down, then we might not have ever seen each other again.”

Cal nodded thoughtfully, tracing random patterns over Tucker’s skin, making him shudder. “Things just seemed to find a way of working out, didn’t they?”

Tucker couldn’t help but agree. He curled forward again, needing the reassurance of Cal’s skin against his own so he would know this was not all a dream.

Cal’s hand found Tucker’s hair, running his fingers through the pale, sweat-stiff locks. “And what about you, kid? How did you find your way all the way over here from Denver?”

Tucker nuzzled closer to Cal’s chest and told him how the connections he had made in Boston had helped to increase his web design business nearly tenfold, which in turn spurred him to move to Aspen to pursue an even wider and more diverse clientele base. He had only been in town for a little over three weeks, though, because moving during the holiday season was oftentimes more work than it was worth.

Tucker suddenly caught his breath at the sudden understanding they had been living in the same town, unbeknownst to each other, for the better part of a month. He sat up again, abruptly enough to startle Cal, whose deep blue eyes widened in alarm.

“Have you ever heard the term kismet?” Tucker asked, feeling a tingle of elation begin to bubble in his chest. Something in the universe was working hard to bring them together, and he was both humbled and awestruck by the realization.

Cal drew his eyebrows together in mild but amused bafflement. “Is that some sort of sushi?”

Tucker scooted even closer to Cal, shaking his head as a smile touched his lips. “It means an inescapable fate.” He motioned to the space between them. “
This
is kismet.”

Cal grinned, bringing his hands up and weaving his fingers loosely through the short hairs at the nape of Tucker’s neck. “Kismet,” he said, seemingly testing the weight of the word against his tongue. “I really like the way that sounds, kid.”

Tucker’s heart did a funny little flip-flop in his chest, and he suddenly felt Cal tugging him closer. He sank against Cal’s chest once again, hovering his lips just inches from the man whom he had found, then lost, then found again.

But just before he could press his mouth to Cal’s, a clock somewhere in the house began chiming faintly. Cal chuckled out a soft laugh and pulled Tucker even closer. “It’s midnight,” he whispered. “Happy New Year, Tuck.”

Tucker grinned, his heart full to bursting, and pressed his mouth to Cal’s in a solid kiss that sent a warming stripe of happiness and contentment and promising hope flowing through his whole body. He could not think of a better way to ring in the New Year.

has been a writer most of her life, but only started writing love stories once she read her first romance novel in high school and fell in love with falling in love. After graduating college and entering the corporate workforce, she realized sharing those stories with her friends and coworkers wasn’t as scary as she thought it would be. She found rather quickly how much they enjoyed her steamy tales of love and passion when they kept asking for more.

Besides writing, Cassie enjoys knitting, drawing, card making, and singing karaoke if she can find the time. She also loves to spend time playing in the Colorado Rockies with her husband and her Corgi pup, Murphy, when she’s not busy obsessing over the fictional characters in her head.
