Actually, come to think of it, during my first few weeks at St Jude’s it had practically scuppered any chance I had with Jack.

‘Don’t,’ Jack said.

‘Don’t what?’

‘Don’t start with the total recall.’ He walked on and pulled me with him. The woods and the fields beyond were beautiful. The sky was blue. ‘Live for the moment, Alyssa.
Live now.’
