“Okay, how about you stand right outside of the
closed
bathroom door. If you hear me fall, which you would since you have exceptional hearing, then you can come back in to help me.”

“Very well, but the Prime Leader is not going to be pleased that I left you unattended.”

“I think he would be even less pleased that you watched me in such an exposed situation.”

There was a pregnant pause as he considered what she meant, then he replied, “I will be right outside the door.” He quickly turned and left the bathroom.

She knew he could hear everything she was doing in the bathroom, but at least some privacy was better than none. She would deal with it. She was still wearing the clothes she had on when they had crashed. There were some rips and tears and she felt really dirty.

“Medic KorsET, would you mind asking Prima AriELa if she could bring me a spare pair of clothes? I would feel better if I could take a shower and change.”

“I cannot,” he replied through the crack of the partially closed bathroom door.

“Why not?” Lindsey was finishing up her business and stood releasing the mechanism to pump out the wastage.

“Prima AriELa was taken by the Morins when they to attacked the city.”

AriELa was taken prisoner? Lindsey felt dizzy and sick. She bent over the toilet like apparatus and threw up. The Medic was there at her side immediately. “Are you okay?”

She shook her head, which was a mistake. She became dizzier. Her knees started to buckle as she lost consciousness. Her last thought was of KadEN.
Where was he?

Lindsey was laying on the sofa in her suite that she shared with AriELa. She was tired of hanging out in the Medic Wing. She was going stir crazy. Now, she wished she had remained. All she could do was imagine the horrors the other woman must be facing. She had cried herself to sleep, but her sleep soon was disrupted by loud voices.

“Lindsey!” KadEN yelled out. “I do not understand how you could just let her leave the Medic Wing!”

“Prime Leader, she insisted that she wanted to come back to her suite,” Medic KorsET told Prime Leader KadEN as he shuffled into the suite behind him.

“What’s going on?” Lindsey asked as she sat up.

KadEN looked at her and was immediately relieved. He had been gone for over four hours making plans for repairs, aiding his people with their needs, and improving their security measures. When he finally was able to get back to check on Lindsey, she was no longer in the Medic Wing.

“Why are you yelling at everyone?” Lindsey asked.

KadEN sat beside her on the sofa taking her into his arms. The nanos were doing wonders because many of her bruises were fading. “How are you feeling?”

“Better. I probably look like shit though. I need to take a shower.”

Medic KorsET walked over to use the medical scope to take her vitals. “Your vitals are normal. Do you feel pain anywhere?”

Lindsey shook her head. She ached a little but it wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle. “I’m okay.”

“Lindsey, you need to let the Medic know if you are in any pain.” KadEN looked at her sternly.

She rubbed his face. He looked so tired. “I only ache a little. I am in no real pain. I promise you.”

He looked into her eyes for a few moments. He believed her. He then nodded for the Medic to leave the suite. He buried his nose in the crook of her neck. She was warm and her scent was causing him to react. He had to fight his instinct to claim her. He could have lost her. He lifted her in his arms as he stood.

“What are you doing?” Lindsey asked. She secretly liked it when he picked her up and carried her around. It made her feel feminine and protected.

“You wanted to take a shower, yes?”

“Yes.” She laid her head against his shoulder. He smelled good, so manly and like the outdoors.

He turned the water on to get the right temperature. Then he helped her remove her clothing. She was surprised when he started taking his clothes off too.

“Are you taking a shower with me?” she asked.

“If that is okay with you,” he didn’t stop with removing his clothes. He liked having her watch him. Her eyes were glued to where he was unhooking his pants. His staff was hard and pressing against his pants.

“Uh … it’s okay by me, but you don’t have any spare clothes. You’d have to put your old clothes back on.” She licked her lips when she saw his manhood pop out from within his pants.

“I’ll have one of my Lieutenants bring a change of clothes by later. Right now, I want to touch you.” He guided her into the shower and under the spray of the water.

He pulled her slightly away from the spray and lathered a sponge cloth. He gently washed her neck, shoulders, and arms. When Lindsey didn’t say anything, KadEN began to worry that she didn’t feel the same about him and that she would be upset over him mating her without first asking her permission.

She threw her arms around his shoulders and cried. “I wasn’t sure that you wanted me as a mate. I thought … you would mate with AriELa and that I would be alone missing you.”

He pulled her tight against him. “I suspected after our first kiss that you would be special to me. I was slow at realizing the depth of my feelings for you. But after we shared sex, I knew that you were my bond mate, the one person sent by the Goddess KatieRI to be mine. How could I want anyone else?”

“I love you, KadEN,” Lindsey whispered with emotion in her voice.

KadEN looked at her as if she was the most precious thing in the world. “I have much love for you, my bond mate.” He turned the water off and dried her carefully with a towel. He then carried her to the bed.

They made love again, slowly and sweetly. Afterwards they laid together in each other’s arms, wanting to remain that way forever. For now, they enjoyed their protected bubble. Tomorrow reality would crash in on them.

Chapter Sixteen

“What happened with AriELa?” Lindsey asked him when they woke the next morning. She watched as KadEN walked around the room naked. He had called for one of his lieutenants to bring him a fresh pair of clothes.

He went over to the window and looked out at his beloved city. “Prima AriELa, Second Lieutenant Daniels, and Security Officer TarAK were caught by the Morins while they were shopping on the streets below. There were several witnesses whom saw TarAK put himself in front of AriELa hoping to give her a chance to run. He was struck down by a Morin. AriELa went to aid him instead of escaping. Second Lieutenant Daniels tried to pull AriELa to safety but she refused to leave TarAK. The Morins grabbed AriELa and TarAK. It took two Morins to subdue the female warrior. We have video feed verifying the events.”

“I’m so sorry. Does Prime Leader RendEL know?” Lindsey walked over to stand by his side.

“Yes, Prime Commander KydEL will be arriving any minute. We are going over rescue plans to retrieve those taken.”

“Do you know where the Morins are hiding?”

“We have several locations that we think they may be using. One location is close to an asteroid field. The magnetism from the field would provide cover for them. It is probably where they have been hiding from us this whole time. They never should have been able to breach our defenses. Kitana!”

She reached out her hand to his shoulder to offer comfort. “This wasn’t your fault, KadEN.” She worried when he didn’t say anything. “Are you sorry that we were together?”

KadEN took her in his arms giving her a passionate kiss. “Never! But I can’t help but feel … guilty. While my people were under attack, and AriELa was being taken, I had been enjoying myself with you.”

She nodded her head. “I feel a little guilty too. But we did nothing wrong. We are not responsible for the Morins coming here.”

They were interrupted by the buzzer for the suite. Lindsey was already dressed so she went to answer the door. The lieutenant on the other side gave her a shy smile. She took the clothes from him and he left immediately.

When she went back into the bedroom, KadEN was talking to someone on his comm link. “I’m on my way to the Operations Room. If he wants to watch the video feed, then show it to him. Five minutes.” He ended communications and took the clothes from Lindsey.

“I would like to come with you,” Lindsey said quietly. She didn’t know how he would react. Did she overstep her bounds?

He nodded his head. “I want you with me. You have a brilliant mind for strategy.”

She beamed at his compliment. They walked to the door hand in hand. It pleased her that he didn’t try to pull away from her. KadEN was publicly showing his people that she was his mate. It made her heart fill with love. She squeezed his hand at the thought that he was hers too.

They found several council members, Commander TylOR, AshOR, Prime Commander KydEL, and Captain Jaxon in the operations room watching the video feed. Lindsey’s breath caught as she watched the image of TarAK falling from a laser gun shot in the side. Then AriELa screamed and ran to him.

Watching the scene proved to Lindsey the younger woman was definitely in love with the security liaison. She prayed that KadEN and KydEL would be able to find AriELa and TarAK, along with the others that were taken.

She watched Jaxon’s reaction when the Morins went after the Second Lieutenant. “That’s bullshit! Daniels could have taken them.”

Commander KydEL looked at his mate questioningly, “What are you saying, that she didn’t try to get free?”

Jaxon nodded her head. “She gave herself up on purpose.”

“Why would she do that?” KadEN asked.

“So that she would remain with AriELa, to protect her,” Jaxon stated firmly. She had no doubts of her Second Lieutenant’s abilities and knew that had to be the only reason the Morins got their hands on her. Lucy would rather die in battle than to be taken prisoner.
