Bishop

I knew I fucked up by stopping over at Ashley’s so instead of taking my ass right home after I handled my business, I booked me a hotel room so I could get my mind right. As much bullshit was going on, now was not the time for me to be caught slipping. I took the time to reach out to Lay and see if she had reached out to Courtney yet. I needed to handle this nigga, so I could move my lady and me out of Memphis and get some act right added to my life.

“What’s up, Bishop?” she asked after the second ring.

“You talked to that nigga yet?”

“Nah, I’m getting ready to go to his house, though. I got a key, so if he ain’t there, I can wait for him.”

“What you got planned?”

“Just gone tell him whatever he needs to hear to get us back on that fuck shit again. Shouldn’t take much. He a dog.”

“And, you don’t think he’s gone suspect something since you messed off with Rell?”

“Hell nah. I still got this bandage on the back of my head and shit. When I tell him that Kai threw me under the bus in front of him, he gone eat that shit right up.”

“Threw you under the bus?”

“Yeah, threw me under the bus. She didn’t have to confront me in front of him. We could have handled that shit privately and spared my relationship.”

“Spared your relationship?” I was repeating her crazy ass words because I couldn’t believe what she was saying. She had to be joking. She couldn’t be serious.

“Yeah… I mean… I know I fucked up… but that don’t mean I don’t love Rell. I do. It was just sex. I don’t know why they made a big deal out of it. It meant nothing to me.”

I nodded in understanding, wondering if that was how crazy I sounded trying to justify running off with Ashley.

“I hear you, man.”

“I bet you do. You do the same shit with Ashley.”

“No, I don’t. I cut her off when I got Kai back.”

“You ain’t got to lie to me, Bishop. I ain’t nobody to front on. I know you, though. You just like me. There isn’t a single faithful bone in your body.”

How did we even get to this point in our conversation?

“Whatever, nigga. Just because you couldn’t be faithful, don’t mean I’m finna let you put me in the same boat as you.”

“Whatever, Bishop. The only difference between you and me is I got caught and Rell ain’t fucking with my ass. Kai might have taken you back the first time, but she ain’t no fool. You better do right. Once she cuts you off… she really cuts you off.”

I heard the sadness in her voice and wished I could comfort her, but she’d made her bed.

“Yeah… well… gone get to work. Call me when you get that information for me.”

“Aight.”

After hanging up with her, I called Rell to check on Kai. When he didn’t answer, I called Kai. When she didn’t answer, I figured they were recording so I decided to take a nap before hitting the road to head home.

Rell

I saw Bishop calling, but this was the first time since we were young niggas that I ignored his call. I was watching Kai sleep on the opposite end of the couch and to be honest… a nigga was feeling some type of way. Here I was, watching the woman of my dreams… sleep. She was right here, in front of me, but because I’d met her hoe ass best friend first, I couldn’t have her. Now, she was with Bishop’s crazy ass and I was single again.

Sometimes, I wondered how different my life would have been if I had done six years instead of Bishop. Would I be in the streets still? Would I have been the one to talk to Courtney and find out about Kai and meet her? Would Bishop be with Layyah? Would I be as loyal and devoted to Bishop as I was? Would we even still be as close as we were?

It was no secret I’d tell anybody that I owed Bishop, But how long was I going to have to pay him back? What was it going to take to cancel the debt of him taking that time for me? Shit, I ain’t know. All I knew was that a nigga was tired. I ain’t had more than three hours of sleep since I found out about Lay and just the sight of Kai sleeping so beautifully was about to put a nigga to sleep.

I couldn’t help myself. I stood and walked over to her. I sat next to the couch on the floor and enveloped her hand in mine before laying down.

“What are you doing?” she asked without moving.

“You’re a light sleeper,” I said sitting back up. She said nothing as she stared into my eyes so I continued, “I ain’t been sleeping lately and… seeing you sleep so peacefully… just… relaxed me…”

“You need some love and affection?” she asked, surprising me.

I blushed and nodded yes. She sat up from the couch and stood, lifting her hand out for me to grab. I accepted and stood, allowed her to lead me to Bishop’s guest room, closing the door behind us I watched her crawl up to the middle of the bed. Hesitating, I stood there for a moment and just stared at her.

“Just sleep, Rell,” she assured me.

I nodded but still didn’t move. I wanted this. Lord knows, I did, but not this way, not in his house. I was too loyal. She was too loyal. What the fuck were we doing?

“What the fuck are we doing?” I asked her.

Saying nothing, Kai stared at me, drawing me into her with her eyes.

“Kailani…”

“Please, Rell… I just… need to feel something… someone real. Just… let’s… hold each other.”

Sighing heavily, I kicked my shoes off and dragged myself to the bed. After taking my jeans off and my top shirt, I crawled into the bed with her with my basketball shorts and undershirt on. The minute I pulled her body on top of mine and felt her skin, it was like… breathing for the first fucking time in my life. It was like… being on dry land. It was like… life. Peace. Heaven. Completion. Necessity. Her in my arms was everything and the fact that she released a heavy breath, as well, didn’t make it any better, like she felt the same fucking way.

With half of her body covering mine, she slowly caressed my arm and chest as I did the same to her back. No words were exchanged. No words needed to be exchanged. Wrapping her fingers around mine, I brought her hand up to my mouth and kissed it before resting it on my chest. What we both knew could only be a one-time thing was definitely something I could get used to.

Kailani

I knew it was wrong, but it felt so right. I felt like such a hypocrite, but I didn’t care. Being in Rell’s arms was everything right now. I’d known the night I met Bishop that Rell was the perfect man for someone like me. He was a good dude with a rough side. He was a good man with a hood nigga attitude. He had the mind of Kendrick Lamar, the hustle of 50 Cent, heart and looks of Tupac, and the soul of Bob Marley. He was passionate, creative, artistic, deep, loyal, faithful, honest, and if he was a Gemini… there would be no turning back if I ever fell for him.

So, as much as I didn’t want to, I lifted myself up from him.

“What’s your sign, Terrell?” I asked.

“Gemini. Why?”

He probably thought I was crazy as I shook my head and got out of the bed.

“What you doing? Where you going?” he asked, sitting up.

“How do you think we’re going to do this and not want to do it again, Rell? We have to dead this before it leads to something else.”

He hung his head and my heart palpitated. “You right, Kai. You right.”

I didn’t want him to agree. I knew he needed to agree, but I didn’t want him to agree.

Resting my hands on his shoulders, I looked into his eyes. “You think I’ll regret stopping this?”

Rell smiled. “Hell yeah, but I’m glad you did.” Wrapping his arms around my waist, he pulled me into him and kissed my forehead. “I know I need to leave, but I can’t let you go,” he almost whispered.

“You need to,” I whined. “I don’t have the strength to resist you anymore,” I continued.

“No?” he asked, his eyes shining.

“No…”

“Kai…”

“Go Rell. Go downstairs or something’. Let’s just go back down there and I can lay on one end of the couch and you can lay on the opposite end.”

“With the tops of our heads touching?”

“Yeah.”

“And, you holding my hands?”

“Yes.”

“Aight. I’ll accept that.”

Sighing heavily, I watched as he picked up his clothes and put them back on.

Bishop

Layyah had called me and told me that she was on her way to Courtney’s spot. I told her to text me the address. I said, originally, that I wanted to wait but if she could have that nigga alone when I got there, I’d just dead his ass now. I was calling Rell to have him meet me there but his ass still wasn’t picking up the phone and neither was Kai. Shit was pissing me off. If I was an insecure nigga, I’d think they was doing some shit they ain’t have no business doing, but I trusted Kai and I knew Rell would never do anything to betray me. So, I left his ass a voicemail finally and let the shit slide deciding to just go to the house and drag him out of that damn studio. I was regretting letting him set that shit up already. But when I did get home they was gone have some explaining to do.

Kailani

When we made it back to the couch, I picked up my phone and saw that I had numerous calls from Bishop. My heart began to race. I looked over at Rell as he picked up his as well.

“Bishop call you?” I asked.

“Yeah, nigga blew my phone up,” he replied before taking my phone out of my hands.

“When we call him back…t hat’s the end of anything we could experience right now, Kailani. You know that, right?”

Biting my bottom lip multiple times, I took the phones from his hands and sat them on the table.

“I’m scared. But I… I want this,” I replied finally.

“Are you sure?” he asked.

“I’m positive.”

Saying no more, he turned my back to him. The feel of his lips on my neck. His hands covering my breasts, sliding down my stomach, and into my shorts was sending me over the edge. His middle and ring finger covered my clit and began to move in a circular motion as he licked and sucked on my neck. If his tongue felt this good on my neck, I could only imagine how good it was going to feel on my pussy. As if he could read my mind, Rell pushed me towards the couch. Resting one knee on the couch, I leaned forward as he pulled my shorts and panties down.

“Damn…” he mumbled at the sight of me before running his hands up my back. Gripping my waist, he pulled me into him and grinded his dick along my pussy.

“Rell, please…” I begged.

Smiling, he kneeled and spread my ass cheeks before licking from the top of my clit to the bottom of my ass. I locked up immediately, mouth opened wide after he arched my back deeper. He opened my pussy lips before licking my clit and closing his lips around my bud. Sucking on it like he was trying to drink Wendy’s frosty out of a straw. I tried to pull away, but he wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his face inside of me as he rotated from licking to sucking my clit. Shit was feeling so good, I couldn’t even moan. All I could do was push myself deeper into his mouth and whimper.

Bishop’s car alarm chirping pulled me out of my trance.

“Fuck!” I yelled, grabbing my clothes and running upstairs as he wiped his face and headed down to the studio. I never thought I’d hate to see Bishop coming, but this was one time I wished his ass would’ve stayed gone.

Rell

Sitting at the mixing board, I silently cursed myself at the thought of what I’d just done. The fuck was I doing with my tongue damn near inside of Kai’s pussy? Not that it wasn’t good. Shit was damn good and wet, and I was looking forward to having my way with her, but Bishop was my nigga. My brother. My ace. He didn’t deserve this shit even if he wasn't faithful to her, he didn’t deserve this shit. If Kai was gone fuck off on his ass, she was gone have to find another nigga to do it with.

“Mane, y’all ain’t see me blowing y’all phones up?” he asked, walking down the basement stairs.

“Nigga, you know how I be when I be in the zone,” I replied dryly.

“Well, y’all gone have to end this shit. Where’s Kai at?”

“She’s upstairs? What’s up?” I asked, standing.

“I was calling yo ass to tell you that Layyah set the shit up for me to hit Courtney. She called and said she was on her way to the nigga house. I told her to text me the address. I was calling your ass so you could meet me, but y’all niggas wasn’t answering the damn phone.”

By the time he’d finished speaking, Kai was making her way down the stairs. She didn’t say anything to either of us as she walked over to him and hugged him. I couldn’t front. A nigga felt some type of way seeing them hugged up, but I knew that wasn’t my lane so I brushed it off.

“What’s going on?” she asked lightly.

“Kailani, why didn’t you answer your phone?”

“It’s in the den, baby. What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know, probably nothing. Lay supposed to be at Courtney’s house. I’ve been texting her and calling her, but she ain’t answering. Either they fucking or she fucked up and some ain’t right. I just came to get Rell so he can ride with me. You okay staying here by yourself?”

“Yeah, baby, I’m good. Y’all be safe and even though I’m mad at Layyah, y’all make sure she’s safe as well.”

I nodded but said nothing.

“I got her. Are you sure you’re going to be okay staying here by yourself?”

“Yes, Bishop I’ll be fine. Just go.”

He nodded before looking over at me. “You ready nigga?”

“Yeah just let me grab my phone from out the den.”

“Aight, I’ll be in the car.”

I walked away to avoid watching them kiss goodbye. As much as I didn’t want to resent my best friend, I did. He interrupted the moment I’d been dreaming about for almost ten years. Now that I’d finally gotten a taste of Kailani… Damn, I was in lust with Kailani.

“I’m one of your biggest fans I listen to everything you do. I know you got a voice, but all I wanna do is sing to you. Yeah, I know you got a man, but I want you to make my dreams come true. Make my dreams come true. I’m in lust with Kailani.” I stopped mid stride and looked around to see if anyone heard me singing.

I could already tell. It was going to be hard as fuck to shake this Jones.
