Angel started to cry in the other room.

Dazzy turned her head slightly when she heard her.

It was then that Colbey, in a brief moment of bravery, grabbed the gun and Dazzy began to wrestle for it.

“Let go you idiot!”

Dazzy shouted trying to hold her grip on the gun.

“Colbey!”

Anton shouted still trying to free his hands from the ropes.

They both fell on the floor, still struggling for the gun.

“Let go!”

Dazzy yelled.

“No!”

Colbey responded.

Anton finally worked his hands free and bent over to untie the ropes around his ankles.

“Colbey, stop!”

He shouted.

Just as he got himself free and stood up, the gun went off.

“No!”

He shouted as he ran over to where they both lay silent and still.

Chapter 20

“Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday dear Angel!

Happy Birthday to you!”

“It’s hard to believe it has been a whole year, man.”

Anton said as he took a bite of his hot dog.

“No, it’s not.”

Romeo laughed.

“I mean, when am I going to get my apartment back?

Krystal and I would like to get our freak on without the cry of babies ruining the mood.”

Krystal nudged him with her elbow.

“Don’t pay him any mind.

We love you and Angel being around.

It helps us get ready to have our own little ones after we get married.

Right baby?”

“Umm…sure sweetie.”

He hugged her and and mouthed ‘help me’ to Anton behind her back.

Anton laughed as he went into the kitchen to get more chips for the snack table.

“How does it look out there?”

Asked Colbey, stirring punch.

He walked up close behind and wrapped his hands around her waist.

“Not as good as it looks in here.”

“Boy, you better stop before one of those kids come here.”

“I don’t care.

Maybe they’ll learn something and go home and tell their parents.”

He laughed.

“She turned around and wrapped her hands around his neck.

“Have I told you how much I love you today?”

She smiled.

“Yes, but you can say it again.”

He smiled back.

“I love you.

I love you.

I love you.”

She said smothering her words on his lips.

“Hey love birds!

We are ready to open some presents in here!”

Romeo said holding Angel.

“Here we come!”

Anton smiled as he grabbed Colbey’s hand and they went back to the party.

Epilogue

The gray-haired doctor continued to look down, writing in his pad as the plainly dressed woman was led into his office and sat down in the chair across from him.

He looked up at her and smiled when she lifted her eyes to his.

“Good morning, Dazzy’Mia.”

      “Good morning, doctor.”

She smiled.

He looked down at the open folder on his desk.

I must say you have made some amazing progress since you’ve arrived here.”

      “Why thank you, doctor.”

“I actually think we can start to lower your meds.”

He wrote some notes down in the folder.

      “Oh, that would be wonderful.”

She tried to reach across the table to shake his hand, but was restricted by the chains around her waist and wrists.

“Well, you should be proud of yourself.”

He closed the folder.

“Maybe if you keep this up, eventually we’ll have you down to almost no meds at all.”

He smiled.

      “That would be great.

After all, I have a fiancé and a baby girl to get home to.”

She smiled big.

“Did I tell you today is her birthday?”
