INFECTED

INTRODUCTION

After
a long time in the Keltal laboratories belonging to the US military, you get
access to one of the secret government projects. The new job means earning five
times more money, but must live within the area that you have designated. You
can only communicate with the outside via messages to first pass through a
filter.

Upon
receiving the relevant accreditations and teach you what will be your bedroom
for a long time, you go to the lab E-7 where you expect Dr. Mathouse.

Dr.
teaches you laboratory equipment and biological safety cabinets. Once you show
it all ends provides a folder and tells you if you have any questions and is
not in the laboratory E-7, will be in the B-12, C-1 or J-3.

I
go to my bedroom and I start to read the documents.

I
go to cafeteria.

I
walk in all hallways.

REEDING

My
room is quite small. I have a 90 bed, a desk with two drawers, an office chair
and a wastebasket.

In
the drawers there are pages and pens.

There
is a closet hidden in the wall. There are sheets and little else. They said
they already give me new clothes. This looks like a prison.

I
open and read documents.

MMM
interesting. A biological weapon maybe fourth or fifth generation. A fungus
that parasitize the nervous system of the infected person and begins to secrete
this molecule and as these documents say when the nervous system completely
infected host is the concentration of the molecule becomes, so to speak,
aggressive fungus is reached destroying the nervous system.

It
seems that they have already made good progress in that regard. Now they want
the body to infect everyone who approaches him. Desired is that the host exhale
fungus spores before dying to maximize infection.

The
last phase is to create a quencher of the fungus. Apparently another team
collaborate with ours to keep a cure at all times.

I
have fear about these and I don’t want to work at this.

I
want to start.

HORROR

I
have not come here for this.

I
am seeking to inform the doctor Mathouse not wish to participate in the
project.

-Do
you have any doubt? -asks me.

No,
I want to abandon the project.

He
gives me a strange look.

-Insurance?
Many would like to have an opportunity like you have earned.

-If
I'm sure. I do not want to take part of this.

-Very
good. Tomorrow you will be sent to another department.

I
wake up in the middle of the night. I hit, I'm losing consciousness.

I
wake. I hurt all over, especially the head. I see nothing. Smells fatal.

I
do not know how long I've been here, but I hear footsteps of someone.

Ho
... hello. Where I am?

Ah,
says one new one. You are in a cell decision.

-¿De
Decision? What decision?

I
hardly think.

You've
been sent here as they decide to do with you. The usual options are to send you
to another cell depending on the appreciation they have for you or kill you.

How
long will it take to know that they are going to do with me?

Well,
you never know. Sometimes a week, a month other and sometimes one year.
Normally if you take too long it is very controversial or do not care about you
a lot. In the latter case you always run. Although there are a couple who have
spent many years here and I think they have forgotten them.

Put
the food in the cell and leaves.

STARTING

I
put my hands to work. A weapon is allowing our army deal with terrorists in
other countries without causing casualties on our troops.

My
colleagues informed me that genes are manipulated right now and tell me what my
part you're working weeks.

It
has been a lot of time but now we have the fungus ready.

Accident.

ACHIEVE

It has been hard work, but at last we
have the weapon. The fungus infects everyone who inhale or consume orally.
You
can also break through wounds and eyes.

Once the guest has settled can take
control of the host's nervous system in five days. During the last three hours
of life of the host, it releases spores. Once he dies, the fungus grows
exponentially in the body driving him in a biological bomb.

We also have a safe way to remove the
fungus once it has completed its work. It has inserted a certain radio
frequency responsive and forces him to die gene. For security reasons we
removed all the mutability of the fungus.

Everything is ready for use when the
government deems appropriate.

ERROR

There
have been two unexpected. The first was a failure in the incorporation of
apoptosis gene in the fungus.
30% of fungi have not incorporated.

The
second mistake was that I dropped one of the vials of defective fungi. A
colleague has gone to help and stumbled falling on the remains of the vial.
Some crystals have crossed the suit biosafety and now in quarantine while the
team working on a cure tries to save his life.

Saved.

Die.

Die,
but…

SAVED

The
cure is effective; they will remain life-long consequences and will have to do
rehabilitation.

I
hear there is a complex lab working on some drugs that may be able to help
mitigate the consequences.

We
return to the experiment and we obtain de desired fungus.

DIE

We
mourn in the laboratory. Our superiors sent us his condolences and a lack of
considerable tact tell us 'his death has served to test the effectiveness of
the weapon'.

We
continue working and a long time after achive our objective.

COMPLICATION

Our
colleague Ernest has not survived. The efforts of the team to develop a cure in
each of our steps have not resulted.

The
fungus is extremely virulent in humans.

They
sound alarms. They have containment protocol enabled. I'll see what happened.

The
quarantine room is completely sealed. Clean makers are coming up with their
costumes and are sealing the hallways.

It
does not look very well through the plastic, but it seems they are opening the
room where Ernest was.

They shout. One runs.

Someone
comes up behind him and pounces on him.

I
stay for see what happenso.

I
hide in the WC.

I
run to my bedroom.

I
look for military.

GOSHIP

I
approach the plastic to try to see better what happens.

Half
of the people who had come here is gone.

Someone has broken
plastic.

¿Ernest?
What a bad face has. One moment, he was dead that means ...

It
pounces on me.

-Ernest
For.
It
hurts me.

I
bite me in the neck and everything becomes dark.

WC

I
heart beating very fast. Something is wrong. It is best to hide me wherever.

Around
the corner there is a bathroom. Better hide there I meet the guy behind the
plastic. In addition to nerves I could use a toilet nearby.

I
hear cries, but I stay in silence.

I’m
nervous and I try to stay in silen but I make noise
.

NOISE

The cap start to fall and I try to stop the
cap’s fall, at the end I make more noise. I fall with strong nerves and knocked
on the door and I try to stand up and I make another loud thump on the wall.

Someone entered.

Club door.

For.

My God, is Ernest. You are trying to
enter through the gap under the door. He has a bloody face.

I step into the toilet and grab the
walls.

Ernest retried down the door.

The latch is broken.

Is within.

It pulls for me.
