She understood Blake’s dilemma all too well. Her thoughts turned to her own situation. How did things get so complicated with Duncan? It started in Dublin with what she’d thought was a one-night stand. However, that night wasn’t just that. She’d felt something for Duncan that shouldn’t have been in her heart. It shook her to the core. So much so that she began to push him away. Brooklyn had hoped he would take the hint and go away, but he hadn’t.

She heard her office door open and close. When she turned around, her heart leaped into her throat. Duncan was moving toward her. His brown hair was loose around the shoulders of his olive green T-shirt. Jeans covered his legs and she knew from experience that he wasn’t wearing anything underneath them. There was a blaze of anger in his green eyes that caused her to tremble. Not from fear, but from something else entirely.

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

“Claiming what’s mine.”

Suddenly she was in his arms, being pulled tightly against his solid chest. He crushed his lips against hers to take her mouth in an intense kiss. Brooklyn couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe. She momentarily gave in to his hard yet tender lips that caused her knees to buckle. His silky hair brushed against her cheeks. Her body willed her lungs to inhale and when she did, his sun-kissed scent filled her. Her phone rang, bringing her back to her senses, and she was able to lift her hands to push him away.

“What’s wrong with you?” she chastised as she went to her desk to answer it.

She was too late. The call was going to her voice mail. The number on her LED screen told her that it was Blake returning her call. Brooklyn exhaled and set her phone on her desk, then, turned to look at Duncan.

“We are at work,” she said. “This is highly inappropriate.”

“You haven’t returned any of my calls. What was I supposed to do?”

“Take the hint.”

“So you don’t want me?”

She swallowed. “Yes.”

“That’s bullshit and you know it,” he said.

“Duncan. This can’t happen.”

“It already has.”

Shoving his hand into his pockets, he moved toward her. Brooklyn tried to take a step back but was blocked by the edge of her glass desk. When he stopped in front of her, he lifted his hand to gently touch her cheek.

“Tell me I’m wrong,” he said.

Brooklyn stared at him. He wasn’t wrong, but she wasn’t about to admit it. She raised her hand to curl her palm around his wrist. Her aim was to move his hand. Instead, her hand lingered there. The heat of his body bore into hers. So did his steely gaze. Duncan wasn’t about to take no for an answer. However, that was the only one she had.

“Please,” she whispered.

“Please, what? Make love to you?”

“No.”

It came out weak but then so was her resolve to keep him at bay. Brooklyn decided she was tired of fighting him. The walls she had constructed around her heart were weighing her down. Would it be a bad thing to let them crumble and give in to Duncan?

Testing the waters, she leaned forward and touched her lips to his. He seemed to accept the terms of her tentative kiss, allowing her to cautiously explore his mouth. His hand moved down her back and settled on her lower back. She moaned. Wrapped her arms around his neck.

There was a knock at her door. As she and Duncan sprang apart, the door opened. Her boss’s assistant, Nikki Diaz, stood in the doorway. She seemed startled to see them in such proximity.

“Mr. Aldridge would like to see you, Brooklyn,” she announced.

“I’ll be right there.”

Nikki nodded and closed the door behind her when she left. Brooklyn’s heart raced. Would Nikki tell him what she’d witnessed? If so, Aldridge would probably fire her on the spot. Her hand shook as she smoothed down her black dress, then finger combed her hair. She walked to the door and felt Duncan at her back.

“I have to go,” she said.

“Come by my house after your meeting.”

With her hand on the knob, she turned to look at him. “I can’t.”

“It wasn’t a request. We have to talk about this.”

Brooklyn pressed her lips together while she thought about it. Her head was screaming that it was a bad idea. But her heart and body wanted a few more moments alone with him.

“Fine,” she said.

Brooklyn yanked open the door. She stepped into the hallway to make her way to Aldridge’s office. Damn Duncan for putting her in this position. Now she couldn’t help but think of all the positions he could put her in later.

* * * * *

In the morning, Analeigh awoke first. Through the open bedroom curtain, she could see streaks of light breaking up the dark sky. She turned to look at the clock. It was six a.m. on a Friday, her day off. With a yawn, she twisted on to her left side to look at Blake. He lay on his back, one arm flung across his eyes. The other was still partially curled around her waist. Watching him sleep, she noted that he looked nothing like the trained killer he actually was.

She snuggled against his side and placed her hand over his heart. Silently, she said a short prayer that wherever he went on his next assignment, that the universe would bring him back to her and for anyone who was listening to keep him safe. By the time she finished, her eyes were wet with tears. She’d never prayed over someone like this before. But then, she’d never loved anyone the way she loved Blake. A wicked thought crossed her mind as she reached out her hand to toy with his nipple. What better way to start the day than with the man she loved?

Slowly, she slid her hand down his taut torso to seize his cock. Blake’s shaft was already in a state of readiness. What was it about him that made it impossible for her to keep her hands off him? She released him to pull back the white sheet that covered them. As gently as she could, she straddled his hips and sank over his hard cock. He stirred but didn’t seem to wake while she glided her pussy up, down, and around his rigid shaft. Analeigh bit her tongue to swallow a moan. Even in his semiconscious state, he was better than any lover she’d ever had.

However, she didn’t just consider Blake her lover. He was also her soul mate and she hoped one day he’d be the father of her children. Her heart swelled with pride at the possibility.

“What are you doing?” Blake asked.

“What does it look like I’m doing?”

He covered his eyes to peer at her. “Were you going to invite me to this party?”

“You were already up and ready to go.”

He reached down to stroke her thighs. When she felt him lift his hips in time to her movements, she stopped and grabbed his wrists. With strength she didn’t know she possessed, she bent his arms and pinned them over his head.

“Oh, no you don’t,” she said. “You’re
my
bitch this morning.”

Blake chuckled. “Is that so?”

“That,” she said, pausing to brush her lips against his, “is so.”

Analeigh leaned back and resumed riding him. More sunlight flooded the room and she could clearly see the smirk on his face. The amusement in his eyes. Whatever. He was hers and she was going to treat him as such. Her even breathing gave way to panting as she rode him with unbridled passion. Her goal was to make him come so hard his eyes rolled back into his head. The expression on his face morphed from merriment into something darker. She almost smiled because she knew she had him.

“Whose dick is this?” she asked.

“Yours.”

“Louder.”

“Yours!” He grunted and squirmed beneath her. “Stop.”

“Nope.”

He groaned. “Please. Stop.”

“I can’t.”

It was the truth. His cock had slipped so deep inside her that his tip was stroking her spot. She felt her wetness flow down her walls as her muscles clamped around him. Even if she wanted to stop, she couldn’t. The sensation spurred her on. Caused her to buck wildly against him as her climax built. Blake grumbled something she couldn’t understand. His body tensed, then she felt him thrust hard into her as he tumbled over the edge. Her orgasm faded, but that was okay since her goal was to take care of him.

Analeigh released her hold on his wrists. When she moved to get off him, Blake sat up and caught her around the waist. He twisted her around to position her on her hands and knees, then entered her from behind.

“Oh God,” Analeigh sighed. “Why?”

“Revenge,” he said. His hot breath engulfed her ear. “Never trust an assassin.”

Analeigh shivered. “But…Blake…”

“Shh. Just come.”

Blake reached between her thighs. His fingers teased her clit. Clutching the sheets, she moved her hips in concert with his rhythm. The only thing she could do was surrender to his demands. She didn’t want to do anything else. She ground her bud against his stiff fingers while he continued to fuck her from the back. His cock again found her spot and stroked it with precision. Analeigh felt her nipples pucker as the climax that had faded now returned to consume, then rush out of her.

It took a moment for Blake to untwine his body from hers. Once he did, he rolled onto his back and pulled her to his chest.

“I like how you enact revenge,” she said.

“And I like how you wake me up.” He paused, then said, “Maybe, you should move in with me.”

Startled, she looked up at him. “Really?”

“Aye. I love you, Analeigh. And I’m in too deep to turn back.”

“Me too.”

Excitement at the prospect of starting a new chapter with Blake warmed her heart. For now, she could live with his job as long as he kept up his promise to get a new one. His arms tightened around her. She closed her eyes. Moments later, she caught herself drifting off to sleep with dreams of their future playing in her head.
