Launching forward Jason made a go for the knife. Tackling him, we collided into a pile of twisted metal. The tower began to shake. Fuck! I cursed mentally. Ignoring the fact that we were about to be crushed to death I coiled my fingers around Jason's throat and squeezed.

He fought trying to get me loose. No training, no
practice, or planning was going to save him from me. I was done being civilized and trying not to sink to his level. He'd messed with me one to many times.

"You think this is over," Jason choked. "She’s dead."

Jason started laughing showing his blood stained teeth while I squeezed harder.

"No, she's not. You are," I hissed.

"STOP!" someone yelled. "LET HIM GO OR I WILL SHOOT!"

Looking back I saw police swarming the junk yard. Looking back at Jason he was laughing like a maniac. Releasing his throat I slung him to the ground toward the police.

"Get down on the ground now!" the same cop yelled. Jason grinned at me in a challenging way. He wanted me to go back after him. He wanted me to give the police a reason to shoot me.

Glaring at him with hatred and anger I didn't think I could possess I suddenly felt like my father. Disgusted with myself I dropped to my knees.

"Get on your stomach NOW!"

Lying flat on the ground I looked around the mayhem. The ground everywhere was stained with blood. Men I had known for years lay dead on the ground from both mine and Jason's side. Scotty lay only a few yards away face up his dead eyes looking straight at the sky.

How could I have allowed this to happen? If I had dealt with Jason sooner. Long before Ever came into the picture or dealt with Eien right when the betrayal happened.

Jake was making a fuss on the other side of the yard.

"Arrest them! They're the ones who started this shit!" He yelled as he was hauled off my three cops. A knee slammed into my back holding my down. My arms twisted behind my back I hissed as the cop grabbed my wound. Cuffing me and jerking me from the ground I looked over at Jason who was in cuffs as well.

"I'll be out before you," he promised. "And, I'll find her."

Ripping away from the cop I started for Jason. A fist collided with my stomach and I glared at the cop who had punched me.

Myers, one of Jason's paid cops. Jason was right though. He would get out before me; he's got judges under his belt. But, we'll see. I'll make sure he meets his death before that ever happens.

I was dragged out to a waiting police truck and placed in the back with Jake, Tyler, Logan, Matt, and Grayson. Grayson looked ragged. He was eighteen and getting pretty good at fighting. He tried so hard to get in my tighter circle though. You could say the kid idolized me. I was not someone anybody should idolize though.

"How you doin?" Jake grinned.

"How can you be happy right now?" I grumbled.

"Well I got to bust up brotherhood losers," he grinned blood dripping off the end of his nose from a cut on his forehead.

"Where's Ever?"

Jake's face fell instantly.

"What?" I growled gritting my teeth.

"She's lost a lot of blood from her side I could see that but..." Jake looked across to Tyler who had a few bruises nothing major.

"Jet got shot..."

Tyler just stared at Jake wordlessly, it was an unnerving look.

"Jet was still alive when Marcus, Leon, and Tom took them both out of here."

"He'll be fine Tyler," I told him. I wasn't sure but I didn't need Tyler acting rash and getting shot by the cops. Ever would never forgive me for Tyler getting hurt. I just know she wouldn't.

"We'll be out of jail in no time," I reassured not knowing that either. I had a few strings to pull. I had plenty enough money to buy my way out but I had to be careful who I bribed. I know once we got to the jail I was calling to find out about Ever and Jet, and to find out who got away and who was killed. From the amount of bodies I seen I knew I'd have quite a many funerals.

Cursing I kicked the other side of the van.

"What's wrong with you now?" Jake muttered glaring at the floor. I shook my head at his mood change. I should be used to it by now, it's been seven years.

"Scotty's dead," I told them.

"Yeah," Logan spoke finally. "I saw Sam gut him."

"You really think you can get us outta this boss?" Grayson asked.

"I told you to call me, Oliver, Grayson. And, yes, I'll get us outta this."

Chapter Twenty-Four

A hand landed on my head patting it gently. Jerking my head up I cringed and looked around. Leon was kneeling next to me. Sitting up from where my head had been laying on Jet's hospital bed I rubbed my eyes. Looking over to Jet he was still heavily sedated but breathing softly.

"What's wrong?" I asked scratching at the case I had on my wrist. It was annoying as heck and I wanted it off but thanks to Eien I had to wear it for two weeks.

"Oliver's on the phone. They got him in a private cell now so he can talk to you," Leon smiled handing me his cell phone. Taking it quickly I pressed it to my ear.

"Oliver?"

He sighed. "Hey Bun," he said softly.

"When are you getting out?" I demanded.

He chuckled. "Well, baby girl it's a work in progress but things seem to be going well."

"Oliver, it's been three days. Can't they like slap you on the hand and release you? I mean it's not like you actually killed Jason. His vocal cords will heal," I huffed.

Three days away from Oliver was torture. I had gotten to talk to him for a brief moment yesterday before he had to go. A lot of the boys were in jail. It was all over the news about the all-out gang war. People were having a field day with it.

Thankfully Jet and I had stayed out of the spot light of the media. One way or another Leon, Marcus and Tom had kept Jet and I out of the public eye. Whether with money or not I wasn't sure.

It was a different story with the police though. An hour after Jet and I arrived at the hospital cops showed up to question us. Jet had been unconscious but I told them about Jason kidnapping me and beating Jet. Leon who seemed in charge at the moment told me what to say then him and the other two made themselves scarce.

Kimmy and Alex had gone off to the big city to hide out for a while. The police were on to Alex being in the gang, how no one was sure but I had a feeling Eien or Jason could be blamed for that. But, he was sure to be arrested and Kimmy went with him only because I demanded it. I told her I would watch over her brother, she seemed satisfied with that but still called twice a day to check in.

"Ever, I'll be out soon. These things take time. Just be happy I cut a deal to get Jason extra time. He's going to Ashford prison in less than two weeks once you testify about him kidnapping you. Speaking of that, are you okay? How's Jet?"

"I'm fine," I told him touching Jet's hand tracing my fingers over his knuckles. "Jet's still out of it though," I muttered.

"He'll be fine. He's stable right? The bullet missed his heart."

"Yeah but the doctors said he's mostly likely paralyzed from the waist down. He might not ever walk again, Oliver."

My eyes watered and I looked away from Jet to where my three protectors sat in the corner playing cards. They were listening but pretended not to. Leon looked up and smiled. He had been a big help since Friday.

"Jet's tough. You know that. You'll see he'll be walking and kicking people's teeth out in no time," Oliver laughed softly.

Smiling I pushed my hair behind my ear and sighed into the phone.

"I miss you."

"I miss you too baby girl," he whispered. "I promised you I wouldn't let anything take me away from you. I guess I lied," he said sadly.

"No you didn't. We're still together, maybe not physically but I know you'll always be with me. This isn't the end. I love you too much to give up on you just because Jason went and screwed everything up."

He sighed in relief. "I love you so much. Did you know that?"

I laughed. "You better. Don't make me come down there."

He laughed this time. "You should actually. I kind of need your help," his voice taking a sadder tone.

"With what? And, I'm allowed to come see you?"

"Yeah. I need you to bring Leon with you too. He's going to be acting leader alongside you while the rest of us are stuck in this hell hole."

"Wait...what? Me leader?" I questioned shocked.

"Yeah."

I could hear in his voice he was grinning.

"I still remember how you yelled at the boys when Jet slung us through the window at the warehouse. A few of the boys were talking about how scary you looked. They even said they actually felt sorry for Eien for a second."

I started laughing so hard I held my stomach and side in pain. Me scary? Now that was funny.

"So is there anything you need me to bring you? If I'm allowed to."

"You are. But, I'm going to need Leon to tell me how many of the boys got killed in the fight and we're going to need to talk about funerals."

It suddenly felt like I had boulders in my stomach. I licked my lips as my mouth went dry. I think guilt is going to eat me alive, or stress, or the brotherhood gang members who aren't in jail with Jason. Either way it was overwhelming. Now I had to help with funerals that would have not happened in the first place if it wasn't for me.

"I'm like the plague..." I muttered.

"Ever, don't you dare blame yourself for anything that has happened. I'm the one to be blamed for everything sweetheart. But, we'll talk about it later. I got to go now. Can you be here at about one tomorrow?"

"What? Why do you have to go?" I pouted.

He chuckled. "It's the rules."

I scoffed. "Fuck the rules! When have you ever, in your entire life, followed the damn rules?"

There was muffled laughter in the corner of the room. Marcus, Leon and Matt were covering their mouth to keep quiet.

"When did you start cursing like a sailor?" Oliver laughed loudly.

"You taught me," I grumbled.

"I taught you well. We'll talk tomorrow. Bring Leon."

"Ok..." I muttered angrily. I didn't want to get off the phone.

"I love you, baby girl," he told me sincerely.

"I love you too, sweetheart."

Oliver hung up the phone. I sat there glaring at Leon's cell. Things were so screwed up. I didn't even know where to begin to pick up the pieces of our life.

I mean our relationship has never been normal. I accepted the fact that Oliver was in a gang long ago, it's not like I really gave it much thought. I guess my attraction to him blinded me from everything, especially the danger
involved.
