CHANEL

After Kior left to meet Ahmir, I decided I might as well go and find out what Jeremiah had to tell me. I sent him a text message letting him know that I was on my way to his dorm so that he could meet me downstairs. I told him that we could talk later but I’m already a nervous wreck and I was not about to walk around any longer not knowing what was going on. When I got to his dorm, he was outside waiting on me. He walked up to me and gave me a hug. Even though I was upset, I hugged him back. When we got to his room, he walked to his bed and sat down letting out a long sigh.

“Jeremiah what the hell is going on? Who was that person calling me saying you were her baby’s daddy?” I asked as soon as I closed his room door.

“Baby listen, what I’m about to tell you, I hope you believe every word I’m telling you because it is the honest truth. The thing I want you to know is that I care about you very, very much and the last thing I want to do is cause you any hurt or pain,” he said.

I sat there not saying anything because I knew whatever it was he was about to tell me was not good at all, so he continued. “Right before summer break ended, I started dealing with this girl named Ericka that I’ve known for a while. Not only is she from my city, she also goes here. We had sex from time to time but right before we came back, she told me that her and her ex decided to get back together. I hadn’t talked to her up until the other day when she called my phone saying she was pregnant and it was mine. Personally, I think she’s lying and just trying to put it on me because her nigga probably dipped out on her ass. But because I know that I been there a few times, I know that it is a possibility. I’m definitely getting a test done as soon as she drops the baby. One thing you don’t have to worry about though is me going anywhere because I’m exactly where I want to be.”

My emotions were spinning out of control. I didn’t know if I wanted to be angry or if I wanted to break down and cry. I knew that what we had was too good to be true and it had to be some kind of drama coming behind it. Ever since I met Jeremiah, it had been nothing but drama and I was starting to question our relationship.

“Say something babe,” Jeremiah said looking at me.

“What am I supposed to say Jeremiah? I’m not even surprised this is going on. Ever since I met you I have been in nothing but drama and it’s all because of you! I’m starting to question our relationship. We haven’t been together long at all but in this short time I had to almost beat Brianna’s ass half to death for her to leave me alone and now this! If this baby is yours, she will make sure that your life is a living hell if you’re not with her! Maybe this was a bad idea,” I told him on the verge of tears.

“No baby, don’t do this to me, to us. I know there has been a lot going on but you have to believe me when I tell you I don’t want anyone else but you. This is what those other girls want. They want to see us break up and see you upset don’t give them the satisfaction baby. They are just hating ass hoes that will do anything to see us miserable!” he pleaded.

Some of the things that he was saying were making a lot of sense but I was just so upset. “I don’t know Jeremiah, just give me some time to clear my head and think. I will give you a call later on.”

I got up and walked out of his room not sure what my next move was going to be. All I knew was that I needed to get away from him as fast as I could before I snapped. I don’t know if I was mad at him or at the situation. Maybe it was the situation because it happened before I met him so I had no right to be mad at him, right?

As I headed towards my dorm, I pulled out my phone to call Kior to see where she was.

“Hello,” she answered.

“Hey Kior are you still with Ahmir?” I asked.

“I’m on my way back to my room, is everything okay Chanel?”

“I’m good but I need to talk to you. I’m on my way there now,” I told her.

“Okay well, I’ll be waiting on you girl.”

I hung up the phone. Man I needed a fat ass blunt right now to ease my mind. I wonder what Malorie was doing later. I knew Kior had plans to hang out with that guy DJ Spin so I sent a quick text to Malorie to see if we could go back to her homeboy’s house.

Me: Hey Malorie, do you have any plans tonight?

Malorie: What’s up chick? No, I don’t have anything planned... did you have something in mind?

Me: I wanted to see if we could hang out with your homeboys tonight. I need to smoke. I have a lot going on right now that I need to take my mind off of.

Malorie: Actually, I talked to Malcolm earlier and he asked if we all wanted to come over later because they were having a cards party tonight. I will give him a call to let him know we are coming and see what time it starts. I’ll hit you up after I talk to him.

Me: Okay cool!

By the time I sent my last message off, I was getting off the elevator headed to Ki’s room. When I got there, Kior had her door wide-open waiting for me to come. She was sitting on the bed watching TV with a big bag of Doritos sitting next to her.

“What the hell are you watching Ki?” I asked.

“Some movie on Lifetime I just turned to and it is good as hell so far,” she replied.

“Oh okay, well let me talk to you for a minute because I know you going to be gone later with that DJ.”

“Okay I’m all ears babe! Oh before you start, let me tell you, Ahmir and I made it official! I’m going to take it one day at a time though because I’m not trying to get hurt,” she said.

“What? I knew it! I’m so happy for y’all!” I screamed. I was happy for my girl and I didn’t want to bring her happiness down with my personal drama but I needed someone to talk to before I exploded. “Well, I wanted to tell you what Jeremiah and I talked about.”

“What is it girl?” Ki said with concern written all over her face.

“Well, after I left the Pit Stop I went to visit Jeremiah to see what he had to say about the phone call I got. He basically told me there was a girl he messed with over the summer, named Erika and she recently told him that she is pregnant but he does not think it’s his. Kior I don’t know what to do. I just want to say fuck the whole thing but a big part of me is telling me to stay. I’m just sooooo confused.”

“Wow! I’m sorry you are going through that boo but one thing I do know is that Jeremiah really does care about you. I can tell by the way that he is with you. If I were you, I would stick it out and see how it goes. Give it a try and don’t let those bitches win because all they want to do is see y’all break up,” she told me.

“That’s the same thing he said. Well, I guess I will call and talk to him more about it because I let my emotions get the best of me and stormed out.”

“Yeah go ahead and call your man honey!”

My phone started to ring and it was Malorie calling me.

“Hey girl what’s up?”

“I just talked to Malcolm and he said that the card party starts at 8 o’clock so I’ll be leaving around that time,” she said.

“Okay cool, I’ll be ready.”

KIOR

It was about time for me to go hang out with DJ Spin and I was excited to see him. I know that I probably should’ve cancelled because Ahmir and I were now officially a couple but let’s be real, I don’t know exactly what Ahmir is doing. Until I know he is serious about this relationship, I will always keep a “spare tire” just in case the other one goes flat.

Spin: Hey love I’m on my way, I’ll be there in ten mins.

Me: Okay see you soon

When he called to let me know he was outside, I double checked myself in the mirror and sprayed my body with my favorite perfume, Flower Bomb by Viktor & Rolf. I went downstairs and got into his car. He was driving a nice black BMW with matching rims. When I closed his door and put on my seatbelt, he leaned over and gave me a hug. Not only did he look good in his all-white Polo outfit but he also smelled good with the Issey Miyake on him.

“You looking good as always,” he said.

Blushing I said, “Thank you! You’re looking good as well.”

“I was thinking that we could go to a park not too far from here and talk to get to know each other a little better.”

“Sounds good to me.”

He drove about ten minutes down the road and pulled up in a parking space. We got out and walked around for a while talking about all types of things. He told me how he got into the DJing thing and how it was always a passion for him. I told him a little about where I was from and what I wanted to do after I graduated from college. Our conversation was so good, I did not want it to be over. He suggested that we go to the mall because he had to look for an outfit to wear to the club. The mall was pretty big, bigger than the malls I went to back at home. We went into so many stores that I was exhausted. He told me that there was one last store that he wanted to go in. Even though I was tired, I said okay. We walked into Bebe’s and I looked at him trying to figure out what could he possibly be getting out of this store.

“Pick out whatever you want in here, I gotcha,” he said.

I looked at him like he was crazy. “No, I can’t let you spend money like that on me.”

“Baby this is nothing for me; this is just a gift from me to you. Now pick out anything you want.”

I didn’t say anything else I just started browsing and looking to see what I liked. After about thirty minutes of looking around, I settled on an all-black bandage and lace dress, pair of Gisellaa mesh peeptoe pumps, a black sequin clutch, and a fringe collar necklace. He paid for everything and asked did I want to get a bite to eat from the food court before we left. I had a taste for some Japanese food so I agreed. I ordered a chicken and shrimp stir-fry with white rice and he ordered the same. We talked and laughed while eating.

“Listen ma, I really enjoyed myself with you and I would like to take you out again soon. You are different from any other girl I have talked to,” he said.

“Thank you! I really enjoyed myself and I never had anyone to spend so much money on me like this, especially not wanting anything in return. Thank you again!” I said.

“You’re more than welcome love and there’s more where that came from.”

After we finished eating, we headed back to campus because he had to get ready for the club. When he pulled up to my dorm, I reached over and gave him a hug. He hugged me back but then kissed me softly on the lips. I pulled back real quick and turned my head a little. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy it but I knew that I was now in a relationship and it just didn’t feel right.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable Ma,” he said.

“It’s alright but let me get going, thank you so much again I had a wonderful time.” I said.

“No problem, I will try to give you a call later, okay?”

“Alright, talk to you later.”

I got to my room and Asha was in the room listening to music while cleaning up.

“Somebody has been shopping! And at Bebe’s! Let me find out you ballin,” she teased.

“I wish, a friend of mine bought this for me,” I told her.

“Well damn, do he have a friend?” she asked.

“I don’t know but I will find out.”

“Girl, I’m just playing! Show me what you got.”

I pulled out everything I had and showed it to her. She absolutely loved it all especially my pumps. I decided to stay inside for the rest of the night so Asha and I had a girl’s night in. We found a movie to watch, popped popcorn and gossiped about things that were going on around campus. Right before I went to bed, I sent Ahmir a quick message letting him know that I was going to bed and I hoped he had a goodnight.

AHMIR

I don’t know what made me want to make things official with Kior but I felt like it was something I needed to do. I had to have her and I didn’t want another nigga scooping her up, so I did what I had to do. The thing is, I still had Zaria in the picture but as bad as it was for me to do it, I had to let her know what was up so I decided to shoot her a quick text.

Me: What’s up beautiful? I’m just sending you a message because I wanted to let you know that we will not be able to fuck around anymore. Kior and I are now together and I don’t want to lead you on. I hope you can understand.

Zaria: Can we meet somewhere? I’d rather have this conversation face to face.

Me: I understand... meet me downstairs, I’m on my way now.

Zaria: You coming over here?

Me: Yeah

I got up and headed to her dorm, I hope she understands. When I got there, she was sitting on the steps with her head down. I walked up to her and sat down beside her. When she lifted her head I saw a tear roll down from one of her eyes.

“Look don’t cry baby girl, I’m not telling you that to hurt your feelings but I want you to know what it is,” I told her.

“As bad as it hurts me, I appreciate you telling me the truth instead of leading me on. I have one question though. Why her and not me?” she asked.

“The thing is before I met you, Kior and I had been chilling a lot and I was really feeling her. When you came along, I really became confused because I started feeling you as well. I’m not trying to be an ass when I say this but Kior and I just have a stronger connection,” I bluntly stated.

“Okay, well can we at least remain friends?” she asked.

“I don’t see any harm in that.”

I got up to leave so I could hit Kior up to see what she had planned for the day.

                                                   *******

After I let Zaria know that Kior and I were together, I went to my homie’s room to see what he was up to. I talked to Kior but she was chillin’ with her girls and I know how that is. When they get together, it was an all day or night thing. When I got there some of the guys from the football team were in there playing Madden on the Xbox.

“I got next,” I said walking into the room.

“Oh you ready to get that ass whooped?” My homeboy Tori asked without looking away from the game.

“Nigga whatever, just get ready to get up out that seat so you can watch a pro,” I said jokingly.

I sat down and waited for my turn when I got a text message from Jasmine telling me to call her as soon as possible. I haven’t really talked to Jasmine since the day she came down here. She kept her word when she said she was coming to visit me so that I could give her some of this pipe. The two days that she stayed here, we were stuck in her hotel room sexing only taking breaks when it was necessary, I even missed some of my classes.

Me: I’ll give you a call in just a minute... is everything okay?

Jasmine: Yes just call me please

Even though she said she was okay, I knew it was something wrong so I told the guys I would be back and stepped out in the hallway to call her.

“Jasmine what’s up?” I said before she could even say hello.

“I’m in here about to eat, are you busy? I need to tell you something,” she said.

By the sound of her voice, I know it’s something I don’t want to hear but whatever it is, I want her to go ahead and spill it out.

“What is it Jasmine?”

“Well I’ve been feeling kind of funny lately and my period is a few days late. I decided to go get a test to make sure I was good but when I took it, it came out positive,” she told me in a low tone.

“It what?” I sighed. “How though? We used condoms and you said you were on birth control. Damn Jasmine, I can’t have any kids right now!”

“Ahmir! You knew the condom burst and I never told you I was on birth control. What do you mean you can’t have kids right now? I know you’re not saying what I think you are saying. I’m not killing my baby Ahmir!” she yelled.

“You can and you will! I get my refund check soon so I will send you the money for it and that’s all I’m going to say.”

“No, I’m not getting an abortion and I don’t care what you say. You can send me whatever you want to send me but it’s going towards baby clothes and diapers.”

“You know what Jasmine? I’m not about to have this conversation with you right now, I’ll holla at you when I send the money,” I told her and hung up.

I went back into the room with everyone and sat there trying to pay attention to what was going on in front of me but my mind was on the conversation I just had with Jasmine.
