The only one walking around in a happy mood the following day was Dyno, who said he couldn’t wait to blow them fuckers to smithereens.

Striker got a call from Rags, who reported that four cars pulled out of Carlo’s warehouse lot and was heading north up Route Six-Seventy-Six, which would take them across the New Jersey State line into Pennsylvania. From there, it would be another hour until they got near Fulton.

Drifter pulled up in the van and waited till Digger and some of Gunner’s men crammed themselves into the back of it. They were heading to the mines early, to get themselves set up in points of advantage.

Striker, not taking any chances with his son and the women was leaving Bubba’s members behind to guard the clubhouse. The rest of the brothers’ were gathered around…waiting, cleaning their guns and checking their ammo supply.

JD was upstairs spending this time with Jasmine. Their loving was fierce and savage, each clinging to each other desperately. Jasmine was insatiable, showering little kisses all over JD’s body. He lifted Jasmine up till the essence of her femininity was poised above his mouth. “Hold onto the headboard, baby.” Then he slowly lowered her down until his heated tongue slid between her warm, moist folds. JD’s tongue licked and swirled driving Jasmine wild, her hips rocking back and forth till she shouted out, in frenzied pleasure. JD flipped her onto her back and lifted her legs up high over his shoulders before he plunged his throbbing erection into her heated core. It wasn’t long until he was growling out his own powerful orgasm.

Later, when JD came back downstairs, his expression was fierce and when he spoke, his voice was cold and hard. “Okay my brothers, let’s go get those mother-fuckers!”

The men let out a battle yell that reverberated off the walls. Upstairs, Jasmine and Holly were clinging to each other, trying to gain some comfort in their shared worry.

JD, Striker, Mick and Roach were the only men visible standing in a clearing near the mine. They were anxiously waiting until they saw the first three of the four cars pull in. JD swallowed hard, his instincts ready to kill.

Carlo and three men got out of the first car and waited until the other men got out of the second and third cars and spread out. “You got my money?” Carlo yelled.

Mick stepped forward and dropped the money bag near the mine opening and stepped away. “There’s your money, all of it. You got it back, no need for any more revenge. The girl is innocent in all of this. She didn’t know what her father was doing.”

“Ah, Mick, you disappointed me. You double-crossed me, now you will pay, too. No one lives who double-crosses me. Now, I want the girl. Where is she?”

Digger walked over to stand next to JD. “Over here, but she’s not going with you. Take the money and leave while you can,” JD yelled back to Carlo having no intention of letting him leave alive.

Carlo nodded to one of his men, who let out a loud whistle. The fourth car pulled up and two men got out dragging a man and a woman with them. The man had a gun pressed to the back of his head.

“Fuck!” JD cursed out loud. “You don’t need to do this.”

Carlo nodded his head again and one shot was fired. The man’s skull blew apart and brain matter splattered through the air, before he slumped to the ground. The woman was screaming hysterically, struggling to get free.

“Unless you want to see another one die, hand over the girl, right now.”

JD started walking forward with Digger at his side, at this point in a mad rage and thinking fast. He knew he had to do something quick or the woman was dead. When he got a little closer, he drew his gun as he was dropping to the ground. Carlo was caught off guard and took a bullet to his chest just as he was aiming his gun to fire at JD. All hell broke loose; bullets were flying all around while JD and Digger were scrambling to find some kind of cover.

Mick was trying to work his way over to save the woman who was running around in circles, screaming. As he got closer, he was yelling for her to drop to the ground. She looked at Mick with surprise on her face, then looked down at her chest. Mick watched her collapse to the ground with a bright, red spot spreading on her chest. “Damn fucking, cold-hearted prick.” Mick cursed Carlo out loud.

The battle ended quickly, being as Carlo’s gang were out-numbered. When two of his men came out of hiding with their hands raised in surrender, JD aimed and fired, showing no mercy. He then spit on their dead bodies. He walked over to where the dead woman was lying and yelled for someone to get a tarp out of the van. JD carefully wrapped her body up and carried her into the mine and laid her down gently.

He watched as the dead and half-dead bodies were dragged into the mine and dumped into an open shaft. The dying men could be heard begging for help, from below in the pit, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Dyno waited until the area was cleared out before he hit the button on the detonator. When the dynamite blew, tons of rock and dirt came tumbling down filling in the shaft and sealing off the entrance into the mine. When the last of the rocks settled, they could hear the fireworks finale, one big boom after another in the distance. The brothers cheered and clapped each other on the back.

“Rebel,” Striker called out and he came running over. “Get some men and drive their cars over to Harry’s crusher. Tell him to put those cars into the baling press. He’ll know what to do and by the time he’s done, those cars will be nothing but unidentifiable cubes.” While the cars were being driven away, a clean-up crew was busy shoveling dirt over the blood on the ground. Striker looked around, satisfied with what he saw. He walked over to where JD stood and saw the grim look on his face.

“Not your fault, bro. No one could’ve known what that sick fucker had planned. Come on. Let’s go the fuck home.”

JD had no words. Nothing could be said that would undo two innocent people getting killed. He followed Striker over to their bikes and rode out.

Jasmine and Holly jumped up when they heard motorcycles roaring onto the club’s lot. They ran downstairs and flew out the door to look for their men. JD was just getting off his bike when Jasmine flung herself into his arms. She was afraid to ask, but she had to know, “Is everyone okay? Is it over?”

JD looked down at Jasmine with a tormented look on his face. Jasmine would never know any of the details. That would be his burden to carry and his alone.

“Yeah baby, everyone is okay. It’s done.” JD said no more and Jasmine really didn’t want to know.

JD was enjoying his morning cup of coffee, relaxing on the back deck of the new house he and Jasmine had recently moved into. Jasmine had a dreamy smile on her face when she walked out to join him on the deck.

“I will never tire of looking at this view. The lake is so tranquil and just look at that fall foliage—all the red, yellow and orange colored leaves just takes my breath away.”

JD pulled her down onto his lap and kissed her tenderly. “I’ll never get tired of looking at you,” he whispered in her ear before finding her lips for a kiss. “Kissing you, Jazzie-girl, takes my breath away. I love you, Jasmine.” JD thought he could never be content staying in one place for so long, but Jasmine changed all that. He loved having his own place to come home to every night with his lovable old lady waiting for him.

Jasmine wrapped her arms around JD and hugged him tight. She’d never been happier in her entire life. She loved JD with all her heart and she had finally found the security and inner contentment she’d craved while growing up.

They both fell in love with their house the very first time they saw it. The huge parlor had wooden beams running across the ceiling with a massive fieldstone fireplace—but her favorite room was their bedroom. It had a little balcony where she and JD would sit together in the evening and watch the sun set over the mountains.

On one side of the house, there were steps leading off the deck to a large stone patio. Then more steps, leading down to an in-ground swimming pool. It was the perfect place for having cook-outs and partying with friends.

Jasmine reminded JD, “Don’t forget—we’re having that little get together this afternoon. It will be so good to see our friends again. I feel like it’s been ages since I’ve seen Renee and Susanna. Lori has been so busy managing the motel now that I’m not around much to help out and talking on the phone just isn’t the same thing.”

Later that afternoon, Jaz was standing on the patio looking over all the food she had prepared. She was getting much better at cooking and loved trying new recipes.

Holly and Striker were the first guests to arrive. Holly hugged Jaz and was marveling over the house. Striker was his usual crass self when he commented, “Where’s the old man? I thought you two lovebirds would be too busy fucking your brains out to have time for company.” Holly frowned and poked Striker, telling him to behave.

Striker handed Jaz a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne and ordered her to “go get the old man and some glasses,” so they could toast the new house. Now it was Jaz that glared at him which amused Striker and he burst out laughing. “Oh, Hell. I guess I’m gonna have to be nice, since you gave that ten grand to the club. Thanks, by the way. It came in real handy. Made some nice changes to the clubhouse.”

JD came walking down the hall in time to hear Jasmine mumbling under her breath, something about pompous, arrogant asses, as she was walking toward the kitchen. He knew Striker had arrived. By the time Jaz had returned with enough glasses, she saw everyone she had invited was there—except for Mick, who had the worst habit of always being late.

Renee drove over by herself telling Jaz, she wasn’t feeling too well and might have to leave early. Roach brought Susanna on the back of his bike and Jaz wasn’t surprised. For as much as Susanna denied any feeling for Roach, she never believed her. Jaz didn’t miss that little sparkle in Susanna’s eyes whenever she looked at him.

Drifter and Spokes were arguing over how to cook the burgers on the new barbeque pit that the club built for them as a housewarming gift. JD walked over and took the spatula away. He handed them each a beer and told them to go sit down somewhere.

Mick finally arrived. He wasn’t alone—some blonde with big boobs was hanging all over him. Jaz wasn’t surprised, Mick was quite the chick magnet. Jasmine happened to glance over at Renee who had her eyes glued on Mick and the blonde. Renee had a sad look on her face as she watched the blonde cuddle close to Mick. Jaz had hoped that Renee and Mick would’ve hooked up, but it didn’t seem likely that it would ever happen. When Jaz tried to give Mick a share of the money, he wouldn’t accept it. He told Jaz to keep it for bail money—just in case—and then he laughed. Jaz wouldn’t talk to Mick for several days after his little joke.

Later, they all sat down to eat hamburgers, hot dogs and potato salad. When Renee got up to get a bottle of water out of the cooler, a gentle breeze molded her blouse to her stomach. As she straightened up, Jaz gasped in surprise. Susanna couldn’t stop the words that flew out of her mouth.

“Oh my goodness, Renee. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were pregnant!” Susanna burst out laughing and didn’t notice Renee’s face had turned pale.

Mick was walking down the patio steps carrying a tray of wine-filled glasses for the girls when he caught the last part of Susanna’s words and stopped dead. He looked over at Renee’s ashen face, then down to the noticeable bulge under her blouse and...

“SMASH!”
