“Hey, darlin’.”

“Sorry to bother you.” She sounded hesitant.

“Impossible. In fact, I’d planned to call you as soon as my brain cells recovered from this morning’s hits.”

“Dozing on the beach?”

“Tanning. Then I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time if I pass out.”

“A multi-tasker, huh?”

He grinned. “Yeah, kinda like sex with a massage.”

“How about dinner? I’ll give you a massage and work in some sex afterward,” she purred.

“So, game on.” He’d stop on the way and pick up more condoms.

“Uh huh. Mom and Dad are out for the evening, and I’d like to cook for you. You up for it?” A giggle followed.

He dug his toes in the sand, ready for any new challenge she might offer. “Absolutely, but find out what time they’ll return, so we can be dressed.”

“Sure. What’s your favorite meat, Mr. Tight End? Are you a steak man or do you like ribs?”

“Surprise me, darlin’. Actually, I’m hungrier for some feline protein, if you get my drift.” His cock twitched with approval.

Down boy.

Jordan greeted him at the door, wearing a dress that left her tanned shoulders bare. Vibrant tropical flowers against the black fabric reminded him of Miami at night. “Beautiful.”

“Thanks, I bought it today.” She encircled his neck and drew him close for a kiss. She tasted like malt, and her cool fingers outlined his jaw as her tongue teased him. Little tremors wracked her body.

“You okay?” He followed her to the kitchen. The aroma of Italian spices and garlic bread made his stomach growl.

She pulled two beers from the fridge, handed him one and frowned. “I promised to be your cheerleader at your first game and now I can’t. I’m sorry.”

“So our play clock has run out, then.” He clutched the bottle tight as his stomach sank.

Her eyes widened. She set her brew on the kitchen island. “What? No. Not unless you’re calling it.”

He shook his head at her mixed signals. “What’s going on, Jordan?”

“Remember me saying Dad always books a cruise for the family?”

“And you’d rather visit the Outer Banks.” He clasped her cold fingers and rubbed them between his.

“Yeah, well the ship leaves day after tomorrow. I forgot all about the trip until GiGi called me this morning. It’s for ten days, so I’ll miss your first home game.” Her soft lips formed a pout.

“It’s okay.” He wouldn’t spoil her trip. Wasn’t the first time he’d had no one in the stands cheering for him. ”

“I promise I’ll come to all the rest.” She clutched his bicep. “We can take a trip to the Outer Banks, too.”

“Sure.” Out of sight, he’d be out of her mind as well. Judging from her parents’ house and the beamer in the garage, the fancy cruise would probably include wealthy shipmates. Ten days was more than long enough to meet a new type of player and forget a lowly semi-pro tight end.

“She tipped her bottle and clanged it against his. “Ready to eat?”

“You haven’t heard my stomach growling?”

Jordan drank in his compliments on her mother’s lasagna recipe. He polished off two large helpings as though he’d missed breakfast and lunch. Why she cared about him enjoying her cooking she didn’t understand. Sex with him rang all her bells and, yes, she wanted more, but he had more to him than physical attraction. It scared her.

“So, I’ll be at an away game when you get back from your cruise.” He set down his fork and placed his napkin on the table looking indifferent with his wandering gaze.

“Your home games are every other weekend then?” A brief separation might excise her growing affection. He’d looked a little remiss when she first mentioned the vacation, but now seemed okay with her going. Returning to their game only plan would be for the best.

He nodded and pressed his lips together. “I’ll miss you.”

Her heart squeezed. She grabbed their plates then loaded them in the dishwasher. After returning to the table, she took his hand. “I’m going to miss you, too.”

A fleeting shadow darkened Heath’s gaze. “Are you really?”

“I wouldn’t have invited you here.” Damn, did he think she’d be looking for a fling while away? She’d need to prove otherwise. Squeezing his hand, she pulled him to his feet and led him to her room. “I’ll prove it.”

He closed the door and stepped close behind her. Soft nuzzling kisses along her neck made her shiver. Slowly, he unzipped her dress. The fabric puddled at her feet leaving her bare to him.

His slight gasp stirred her desire. She faced him.

His pale blue gaze wandered. “Darlin’, you must be trying to give me a heart attack.”

Wearing a naughty smile, she unbuttoned his shirt. “No, just keeping the game interesting.”

He propped his hands on his hips. “That you are.”

With a feathering stroke to his abs, she unzipped his shorts.

He answered with a groan.

Commando and sporting thick wood. “See, I’m not the only one. Yum.”

“Call the play.” He winked.

She shoved his pants to the floor. Well defined thighs without an ounce of fat, the man probably squatted five-hundred pounds.

“Just a second.” She stepped to her desk and returned with a box of condoms.

With a seductive glint he teased, “Marathon?”

She pushed him toward her bed then nodded for him to sit. “Now scoot back.”

He smiled and did as told.

Jordan ripped open a packet and handed him the condom.

He rolled it on and stroked his shaft, meeting her stare.

So fucking hot. She could watch him all night. Her mouth watered. “You ready?”

He arched a brow.

“Lie down.”

“Ahh, shit.” He grinned as though he’d been given a present and flopped on the mattress.

She crawled onto the bed, straddled his thighs and leaned over him giving him an eyeful of her breasts. “Something for your spank bank while I’m gone.”

With a chuckle, he latched on to a nipple.

The slight tug raced current to her needy clit. He’d unleashed a flood of desire she’d kept pent for months. How would she last for ten days without his hedonistic play?

“Let me give you something for yours, darlin’.” He lifted her butt. Pressed his tip pressed past her labia and slowly impaled her. Inch by inch, his thick cock stretched and filled her.

She throbbed with an ache he’d proven he could satisfy.

Squeezing her ass, he brought her forward and nipped her neck. “Use me, baby. Take what you need.”

No need to tell her twice. She’d always wondered what sex would be like with an athlete. Being taken against the wall of the shower was a first she’d never forget. Now, riding a fit stallion who seemed to have infinite stamina only fuel her fantasies. Plus he wasn’t against toys in the bedroom. Who knows, he might be up for more kinky play, too.

She rode him wanting to scream from the pure pleasure racing through her veins. “God yes.”

His hypnotic gaze added to the sensual ride. Sweet tension coiled in her lower belly as his hot length stroked sensitive nerves. The high before the fall.

He rocked his hips meeting her pumps.

So close. Her thighs burned with exertion.

A warm fingertip slipped into her anus and gently massaged. So naughty, but so good. The dual sensations sucked her into a mind-blowing vortex.

Heath wanted to give her the best orgasm of her life. Her beautiful breasts bounced with pointed nipples. So sexy with her hair flowing free.

Their bodies merged as she rode him hard and fast. Her tight pussy pulsed around his shaft as he teased her ass with his finger. Then she slackened in his arms.

Holding onto her, he followed. On and on his release throbbed inside her. He lay still until she stirred against his chest.

“Wow.” She ran her foot along the inside of his calf.

“Had to give you something to remember while you’re cruising the Atlantic.” He chuckled hoping it would be enough.

She sat up and removed the spent condom. “More than enough.”

“Do I get points for good sportsmanship?” He pulled on his shorts.

“For that and the little thing you did with your finger.” She winked.

It’d been a long time since a woman made him blush, but damn if his cheeks didn’t feel sunburned. He cleared his throat. “How about we tidy the kitchen and then watch a movie?”

“Worried my parents will catch you up here, defiling their daughter?”

“Yep.” He had his shirt on started helping her with her dress.

They’d just settled on to the sofa and she’d cuddled next to him when the front door rattled.

“I can’t believe they’re back from dinner already.” Jordan tossed the TV remote on the hassock in front of them. “No time for round two. Damn.”

Rubbing a hand across her back, he said, “I promise to make up for it when you get back.”

Her parents rounded into the room a second later.

Heath rose and shook her father’s hand. “Mr. Walker.”

“Call me Paul.”

“Heath Lancaster.”

The tall, lean gentleman surveyed him head to toe. “So you’re a tight end for the Tritons.

“Yes, sir.”

“Expecting a good season?”

“We’re practicing hard.” Heath glanced at Jordan.

“I’m looking forward to going to some of the games.”

“Let Jordan know when you want to come. I’ll have some tickets waiting for you.”

Jordan smiled and gave him a subtle wink.

He seemed to have passed the initial father test.

An endlessly blue ocean lay beyond the window as a pianist tickled the keys to a relaxing jazz tune. Jordan sat at a bar on the cruise ship missing Heath. The romantic setting made her ache worse.

Her father had never invited any of her dates to call him by his first name. Even the successful Richard, who’d had the balls to play single. The weasel hadn’t looked his forty years old. He claimed to be the junior Branscome, not the owner of Bodies. Asshat.

Her cell phone alarmed reminding her of the start of Heath’s game. She said a silent prayer for a safe game and hoped he played well.

A man in a preppy blue-striped shirt sat next to her. “Hey, you look lost in thought.”

He had the proper hair, jaw and cultured mannerisms. Jordan squirmed, at his soft physique. She used to be attracted to his type. Heath had turned her into a hard body woman. It wasn’t only his body. He’d never left any of her desires unanswered and he seemed to care about her heart as well. “It’s kick-off time for my man who’s playing on a summer pro league while the big teams settle the strike.”

“The thugs just want more money for throwing a ball around.” He sipped his Martini with an annoying grace.

Jordan itched to use her lacrosse stick on him. With the barest effort, she’d have had him begging for mercy. Guess she was a thug herself. So be it. “What about the white-collar criminals taking pensions and making backdoor deals with politicians?”

With an indignant jerk of his head, he seemed stunned by her comeback. “There are some bad apples as with all groups.”

“Same as in football. Most players have families to support. Plus intellectuals only wrack their brains for their profession. Football players wrack their brains and bodies. Have you ever seen the size of a play book?” She smirked and stirred her Margarita.

Thankfully, her eldest brother, Nick, arrived and sat on her other side. Mr. Prep quickly found another seat at the far end of the bar.

“Were you just chewing on him?” He playfully punched her shoulder.

“Yeah, but he was all fatty. I’ve suddenly developed a taste for prime rib.”

“So Dad said.” He ordered a drink from the bartender.

“What exactly did our father share?” She nibbled some of the pretzel mix.

“Only that the new dude you’re seeing has manners, guns and a brain.”

Excited and nervous, Heath ran through the inflated Triton figurine along with his team. Huge fans circulated a cooling mist along the sidelines, offering a brief respite from the stifling heat. Raised in South Carolina, and having been in Texas, he embraced his conditioning in the heat and humidity.

The crowd roared. GiGi yelled from the stands.

Was he on Jordan’s mind while she cruised on the Atlantic?

Probably not.

After kickoff, offense took the field and the QB called Double Diamonds. Heath pushed past linemen and charged up the field. A glance behind, the spiraling ball shot for him. Diving forward, he snatched it and maintained his footing. Side-stepping, he twisted and weaved through the pack. Nothing but green lay ahead.

Adrenaline kicking, he pumped his legs like pistons, closing the distance to the end zone. Behind him, a stampede of players sounding like buffalo gained on him.

Close to being gassed, he dug deep for the last of his reserves. Almost there. A tug on his heel plowed him into the turf. Another player landed on him like a slab of concrete. Tight in his palm, the ball lay past the orange pylon.

The referee blew his whistle and shot his hands overhead. Cheers erupted from the crowd. His first career touchdown. He clung to the ball, but wished Jordan had witnessed his milestone. Only a touchdown and an extra point ahead of the Boston Muskets, he kept his enthusiasm restrained. Two turnovers later they led.

After the game, he followed Dugan and GiGi to the Green Dolphin. He’d sucked down his first beer when his phone flashed with an instant message.

Thinking about you. How was your game?

He smiled at the text bubble and replied.
Scored a TD! How’s the Caribbean?

Awesome! The TD, I mean. Wish I could have been there. The ocean is beautiful but lonely without you!

He’d love to take her on a cruise one day. Better yet, an isolated getaway. A place like Bora Bora, where they’d sleep in a little hut on a clear lagoon. He needed to make more time for fun. After each game and practice, his sore body reminded him of his age. At twenty-nine, how much more pounding could he take?

* * * *

Lovely beaches and crystal waters were all nice, but Jordan would rather get back to her game with Heath. On the flight change for home, a TSA agent groped her while her parents and brothers walked through without a glance. Guess she looked like a terrorist after last night’s end-of-cruise party. Her head pounded against her temples like the drummer’s bass drum.
