I ascended the laboratory stairs one at a time. As I reached for the doorknob, the rise and fall of Elizabeth’s raspy breath took me by surprise. The sound assured me of my duties, of the promise I had made to the Baron. I slipped through the door, pulled it shut tight, and passed into the study.

Before I knew it, I was standing in the grand foyer. The tick of a clock gave the rumbling heavens a rhythm of life. Lightning flashed a brilliant glow across the marble floor. Somewhere, within the walls of Castle Frankenstein, Victor’s mother slept soundly. She had no idea what lay beneath the floors of her home…of the monsters her son had created, or that his one-time assistant, the same deformed man who had aided her husband, would continue the work of a brilliant madman.

The Frankenstein Theory.
