“Hope and Rod Campbell are here as well. You remember the
m, don’t you? She’s still as bossy as ever, and he’s just as calm. I suppose he’d have to be to put up with her all these years.” Another breeze blew over him. This one cool. “I know you put up with a great deal from me too. I didn’t mean I wasn’t happy they were here. Just letting you know.”

He was happy they were here. Hope had always been one to have fun teasing and pissing off
, and Rod was a great man simply to talk about books with. He told Kelley about the book and giving it to Hope.

“I’ll think about the other book. I’ve had it so long now that…well, I’m not ready to give it up yet. Maybe that other boy, Randy
, can help me with it. He’s a lawyer, you know. Or he’s going to be. Maybe he can be the one to help lay out the laws in it before I give it to him.” He looked at the swaying trees. “He’s a good boy. Sharp too. The few times I’ve talked to him, he’s impressed me as a man who wants to go far. Mayhap I can horde in on a couple more grandchildren for us to look down on.”

He’d have to spend more time with Randy
, he decided. Get to know the boy before things in the book started to show themselves. He supposed he could have gone to Phil with them, but what fun would that be? New blood was what they needed now.

“Yes
, my dear, I think I’ll hang around here for a little while longer. Just to see how all this turns out. You never know, maybe I can convince someone to name a baby after me and you.”
