The KKK on the other hand quickly picked up the anti-alien banner and tried to run with it. They had less progress now since security forces had far better tools to use than ever before. Any mischief the group tried to instigate was discovered and either prevented, or the perpetrators captured and tried. Everyone was welcome to their own opinions, when they tried to force those opinions on unwilling people, well, that they weren't allowed to do.

All too familiar with the fate that the United States had found itself in, Russia decided to look into the matter closer. Which, in soviet terms, meant they would accept, but they would do so in their own time and on their own schedule.

That left the newly formed Chinese Alliance. In the month it took for the fall of the American government, the Chinese military had not moved from their staging points. They had continued to build up forces though, and when sensors on the ships detected the deployment of nuclear and several different chemical weapons, it was decided that time was up. They could not be allowed to use those weapons.

Several strikes were planned and executed. The convoys that carried those weapons were destroyed after the soldiers were stunned. Lord Admiral Vance ordered his forces to seek out and destroy the remaining weapons of this type in all three countries.

It took almost two days of near continuous assaults and air strikes before the entire Chinese arsenal of Mass Destructive Weapons was destroyed. Six chemical weapons factories were also destroyed after the workers were removed. These attacks marked the destruction of the last large stockpile of WMD's still on the planet. One of the first orders of business for the Alliance had been the destruction of those weapons. There were still 'lose' warheads in terrorist hands on the planet, but those were being hunted down and destroyed as well.

The Chinese central committee, infuriated at the attacks on its 'sovereign soil' ordered their forces to attack, claiming a state of war existed between the people of the Chinese alliance and the Alliance.

The war was a short one. It lasted a week. The first target was the Central Committee, which were stunned and captured. Then the Alliance had to do the same with every high ranking official in the military heavy regime. There were a few casualties, a plane carrying Chinese soldiers exploded when it tried to make an emergency landing. It was later discovered that the Colonel commanding the unit had detonated a grenade near a fuel tank.

The transition was very difficult on the people of those nations. They had been oppressed for so long, they did not immediately understand the concept of the freedoms they now had.

The U.N. was altered in structure and a planetary Governor was elected in a full and free planetary election. Several ships were sent to Earth carrying supplies and equipment to begin setting up everything the people would need. As promised, the seated Councilors put their seats up for election by all the people of the planet. However, they were re-elected based on the fact that they actually knew what the job entailed.

Earth was now a Core World and a full member of the Alliance.

About the Author

B
en Winston (1965 - ?) was born in Iowa and grew up in Minnesota on the family dairy farm. Upon reaching adulthood, he joined the United States Army as a communications technician. Before getting out of the military, he decided to go to school for computer electronics.

Shortly after getting out of the military, and after getting a new job with an over-seas company, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. A month after beginning the new job, he was laid off due to budget over-runs on the project he was hired for. Upon returning to the United States, he had difficulty maintaining employment because of the chronic illness.

He began writing as a form of stress release, from being home bound and not being able to work, and found he liked writing erotica. Ben wrote a trilogy called the Talosian Chronicles (Currently in rewrite to remove the graphic sex and finalized his vision of the story). The first book, Star Dancer, won awards and was nominated for many others by the online communities where it was posted.

Ben Winston returned to school for literature, after completion, he began writing professionally. Being an avid fan of science fiction he focused on this genre. He was, and still is, influenced and inspired by Gene Roddenberry, Anne McCaffery, David Weber, Isaac Asimov, and Ray Bradbury. Some of his favorite movies and TV shows are; Battlestar Galactica (both versions), Andromeda, Star Trek, Firefly, Star Wars, and many of the B-rated movies that were actually box-office bombs.
