“Oh please,” Alex teased playfully, making Miya grin, and Jacquelyn snicker. Haydrien wasn’t as familiar with their family as Alex was and looked slightly unsure if the two would truly break out in a fight. But Miya knew they were only teasing. Eventually Haydrien would realize that too and probably jump into the fun with them.

“Violence may be all you have left since it’s obvious your mind is going. Wasn’t it just yesterday you forgot where you parked your ship?” Alex asked.

Miya had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. He had forgotten, but it wasn’t because his mind was going. It was because he, Chris, Alex, and Jonah were all arguing about some security measure for the upcoming senate function. It still bothered him, though, and Alex enjoyed ribbing him over it.

Sidious scowled. “I knew I should’ve let Hayden beat the hell out of you that day.”

Miya giggled as Alex pulled her tighter and kissed her temple. “Daddy, you don’t mean that.”

“The hell I don’t,” he countered, then grinned.

Jacquelyn smiled at Alex. “Looks like you fit right in, Chancellor.”

That he did, Miya thought with a smile.
