“I tell you this now, Jane. You are my slave. You belong to me. You will not seek or receive pleasure from anyone but me.

a man.” She pulled Jane to her feet, then bent her face to kiss her almost tenderly on Jane’s puffy lips.

Zenovia released her and turned away. Moments later, she returned to the trembling, confused, and terrified Jane, holding the metal contraption that had been cupping her quim.

Jane shuddered as her mistress spread her legs and licked the juices from her pussy. She nearly collapsed as that tongue swiped and slathered over her, both soothing and teasing.

And then Zenovia shackled her up once more, fitting the golden cup back over her, tightening the chains, and then re-attaching the leash to her collar.

“Now,” said the chieftain, “we shall continue with our day. Perhaps I shall even allow you a bit of nourishment. For we shall have a long evening ahead of us, my dear pet.”

Jane’s thoughts swam, and she was distantly aware of courtiers returning to the chamber, Zenovia giving orders, and, at last, a small plate of food and drink brought to her.

But instead of allowing Jane to eat, Zenovia insisted upon feeding her like a trick dog. She offered only one morsel at a time, though Jane was starving and hadn’t eaten since the fateful dinner last evening.

She’d nearly finished the small plate of food, and Zenovia allowed her to drink some watered-down wine, when one of the guards approached. She appeared somewhat distressed.

“Your Highness,” said the woman. “Lord Akenov has arrived.”

Zenovia frowned. “Damn him. It’s not time for his quarterly visit.” She looked down at Jane, who, understandably, showed curiosity at this development. The chieftain smiled tightly. “You need not be jealous, darling slave. Akenov is my official concubine—for breeding purposes only. You need not fear he will take my attentions from you. No one could do that.”

Jane had no idea how to respond to this, and so she merely nodded.

“Bring him in. Let us see what he gives for this unexpected visit.” Zenovia was clearly irritated and put out by the situation, and it surprised Jane that she was so compliant.

Moments later, Lord Akenov strode in. He was accompanied by several men—presumably his personal guard.

Jane looked at him with curiosity. He was very tall—taller than Zenovia—and extremely handsome. Well built. Muscular. His hair was short and curly, cut straight across his forehead in the manner of the ancient Romans.

If one had to have a man for a concubine, she reflected, it seemed one could do much worse than Lord Akenov. Even his teeth were straight and white, and they gleamed when he gave Zenovia a sardonic smile.

“What brings you here, Akenov? I was not expecting you for another month.”

“I cannot imagine a less hospitable welcome for your lover, my darling Zenovia,” he said, bowing at the dais.

The chieftain made a disgusted sound, but remained silent.

“Very well, then, I shall get to the point. But first,” he added, shifting closer so as to speak for her ears only, “I must say I have even less desire for our conjugal visits than you, my dear elephant.” Then his eyes widened, for he had seen Jane, who knelt upright next to the throne. “By the gods,” he murmured, his attention lingering heavy and hot. “She is lovely. No wonder you are displeased with my arrival.”

“You were getting to the point, Akenov.”

“Yes, of course.” Akenov stepped back, but his gaze slipped down over Jane’s breasts and tumbled hair. “I have with me a diplomatic retinue lately come from London.” He turned and gestured.

Jane watched as three men near the back of the contingent separated themselves from the rest and walked forward. As they moved closer, her heart nearly stopped beating, and her body began to shake.

“May I present Lord Hampstead and his companions,” said Akenov, but Jane heard nothing more.

Zaren.

Zaren was here.
