In January and February, normal nighttime temperatures in Alberta, Canada range from -15 to -25 °C (5 to -13 °F)
Winter temperatures can drop as low as -30 to -40 °C (-22 to -40 °F) for days at a time.
Although cold, these temperatures are manageable in modern civilization.
The odds of survival at these temperatures decrease when all modern conveniences such as furnaces and electricity are taken out of the equation. Such is the life many would face after an EMP.
Mrs. Moore’s students had faced seeming insurmountable odds in getting home when they split up and traveled through a collapsing nation by Land and by Sea. Some of them didn’t make it. Those that did found the sanctuary of Home overrun by gang members that had captured their friends and families and forced them into slave labour.
The students then did the unimaginable. They fought to free their town.
They won.
Teenagers forced to act well beyond their years to survive and tempered by the experience.
Parents - grateful to have them back but struggling to accept the changes in their children, attempt to force them back into the young roles they had before the end of civilization. What they don’t realize is that it’s not possible to erase those changes.
When the town is hit with a devastating virus, the teens once again take it upon themselves to rescue the town and find the medicine their loved ones so desperately need. Stonewalled at every turn they make the hard decision to embark on an epic journey to a faraway city to search the ruins for help they need.
Traveling through a Frozen wasteland, they not only have to battle the elements and other survivors but also the inner struggles of growing up too fast and coming to terms with the things they do.
