“Sorry,” Meg tried desperately to school her features into an innocent look, but then he growled deep in his throat and she collapsed in laughter again. “Sorry,” she repeated.

“Uh-huh,” he nuzzled her ear amorously. “If I were a caveman, I’d make sure you never got out from under my skins long enough to get into any trouble.” His tongue licked a slow line up her neck, making Meg shiver in his arms.

“You barely let me out of bed in the twentieth century, either!”

“Complaining?”

“No.”

“Then shut up and kiss me.”

For once, she did exactly as she was told.
