“It feels great. Amazing. Happier then I can ever remember being,” she answered Beth.
“Good. You deserve that and more.” Beth hugged her again, and Mia squeezed her tight.
“Thank you again for all your help in this.” Mia kissed Beth’s cheek.
“It was nothing really. I would do anything for you, Mia. You’re my best friend.”
Pulling Beth to her again for another hug, Mia kissed both her cheeks and resisted the urge to cry. She was the luckiest woman on earth to have all these amazing people in her life.
Arms wrapped around her waist and brought her against a hard body she knew very well. She shivered as heat raced through her when his husky voice reached her ears. “It’s time for us to leave, wife.” His breath heated her neck before she felt his lips brush over her tingling skin.
Biting her lip to contain her moan, she leaned back against her husband. “Let’s go, husband.” She grinned in pleasure at his new title, spun in his embrace, and kissed him. Easing away, she smiled up at him. “I love you, husband.”
“I love you too, wife.” He reached down and scooped her up, cradling her in his arms, and her husband whisked her away.
Epilogue
Alex rubbed her stomach. She was humongous. Bedrest sucked, but the attention she received from Alex was awesome. He was so proud of himself. Mia was surprised he didn’t tattoo on his forehead
I got my wife pregnant with triplets
. He was so damn full of himself, like he’d performed a feat no one had ever done. It didn’t matter that she was the one who incubated the babies or gave birth to them, in Alex’s eyes he was the god.
“This time it looks like an alien is about to rip its way out of you.”
Slapping the back of his head, Mia wiggled her way to a sitting position and glared at the idiot that was her husband. “That is not something you say to your seven and a half month pregnant wife, who is on bedrest because she is incubating your daughters.”
“And a great job you’re doing too.” He sat up and did his best to look innocent and sorry.
Mia wasn’t buying it. “Snip, snip,” she snapped at him. “No more. This is the last time you get to look at my stomach and watch a baby, or in this case babies, look like they’re trying to rip me open to get out. You’re getting the snip.”
She’d been threatening that since she found out she was pregnant again. It was something she reminded him daily since finding out this pregnancy she was having triplets.
In the almost six years they’d been married this was the third time she’d been pregnant. Apparently, she was that one percent that the pill didn’t work on. When she fell pregnant seven months after giving birth to their son Jason, she argued with the doctor that she couldn’t be pregnant because she was on the pill. That was when she learned she was the lucky one percent who the pill didn’t work for. Mia was highly fertile. After Rowen was born Mia made damn sure they used a condom any time Alex came near her.
Seven and a half months ago, on their anniversary, Alex had gone above and beyond and they forgot to use a condom. Now,
voilà
she was pregnant again, and not with just one baby but three.
Peace and quiet in their house was rare with three boys. Alex’s parents were amazing, and Mia was sure without them she would have gone insane. They’d helped her get her accounting degree, because without them she never would have left her babies to go to university.
Alex was everything a girl could dream of and more, and Mia knew how lucky she was to have him. Sure, she’d learned he wasn’t perfect. They fought, but they never went to bed angry with each other. They ended every day by saying ‘I love you’ to each other. Mia loved Alex more every day. He might drive her crazy, like telling her an alien looked like it would burst out of her, but she wouldn’t change him or the time she spent with him for anything.
If someone had told Mia seven years ago that she would meet a guy and fall head over heels in love with him, marry him, and give him five children, she would have laughed her arse off. But meeting Alex was one of the best things that ever happen to her.
Hearing fighting coming from down the hall, Mia groaned and attempted to get off the bed, forgetting for a moment she was on bedrest. Alex’s hand gently pushed her back on the bed, and he kissed both her cheeks before brushing his lips over hers.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’ll sort them out.” He kissed her forehead before easing away. “I love you.”
“Thank you.”
He paused at the doorway and raised his eyebrow. “For?”
“Everything.” She hugged her stomach. “For all you’ve given me. I love you.”
The grin that came over his face was so sexy. His gaze traveled up and down her body, and she heated, loving that even in this stage he found her attractive. When his gaze caught hers again his smile vanished, and he nodded in the direction of her stomach. “I’ll book in for the snip. I love you.”
Damn, she loved this man. Before she could reply Rowen screamed, “I’m telling. I only punched you a little.”
Closing her eyes, she took a deep, calming breath in and slowly let it out. Opening her eyes, she growled when she saw Alex chuckling. “Thank God these are girls.”
Alex’s smile vanished, and Mia relaxed back on the bed as he left to deal with the boys. Life was good.
