Liv and Regan had spent the afternoon watching a movie and engaging in just fun girl time. When the movie was over, Regan picked up the half-eaten bowl of popcorn and held her stomach. “I wish we would have eaten something more substantial first, Liv.”
“Yeah, I’m with you. I feel a little queasy, too. I put too much butter on it.” Liv laughed and picked up the remnants off the carpet.
“Why don’t we just go to dinner. We need to eat something really good…hey, why don’t we go to that little steakhouse we used to go to?” Regan smiled. She could trick Liv into about anything, and the woman would never catch on.
“Oh, that sounds great.” Liv threw the popcorn in the trash and leaned back against the counter.
“I was wondering about something if you don’t mind me asking,” Regan started and searched Liv’s face.
“Shoot,” Liv replied and waited.
“Well, remember how you told me about you and Brock, you know, after y’all started dating?” Regan treaded lightly.
“I remember, why?” Liv pulled her eyebrows together.
“I know what you said about how he helped you…anyway, I was wondering if you thought that might work for Drew?” Regan asked and tried to act nonchalant while pouring a glass of tea.
Liv sighed. “I wondered that myself…I actually planned that, but I guess I got so carried away with allowing him to dominate and control. You know I like that, and there are so many men that just can’t get it right.” She laughed.
“Oh, I know exactly what you like. That was why I really felt you’d make an impact on Drew. Did he say anything about seeing you again or—”
Liv waved a hand quickly. “No, he didn’t say he’d like to see me again. It was sex, Regan, a week of really great sex.” She sighed and smiled, thinking about their time together. It was sex, but it was incredible.
Regan nodded and frowned. “I’m really sorry, Liv. I thought and actually prayed that you two would hit it off.”
Liv smiled. “It’s not the end of the world, Regan. We still have each other, and who knows, maybe one day he’ll combat all his demons and give me a call,” she said, apparently trying to make her feel better.
“There you go lying again. I know that you don’t want to wait for someday, and I also know that you’re crazy about him. I also think that it would be more enjoyable for the both of you if you put him through the course you went through.” Regan smiled and winked.
“Yes, no doubt that would be a lot of fun, the course that is, but he really made it clear that he didn’t want anything else, so…I just have to let it be.” Liv turned and began to rinse their dishes and put them into the dishwasher.
Regan ceded the battle. “Okay, I won’t speak any more about it. So, what do you think. It’s after four now. Should we try to beat the dinner rush?”
Liv nodded. “Give me a few minutes, and I’ll go get ready.”

Drew rode with Damon and glanced out the window with third-wheel syndrome setting in. “Tell me why I’m going on a date with you and Regan.”
“It’s not a date. It’s dinner, and we wanted a night out away from everything, and we wanted you to come along and get away also.” Damon shrugged.
“Don’t keep me out too late, I have stuff to do at the house,” Drew mumbled.
“Yeah, I know there’s a six-pack in the refrigerator and a stack of porn that needs to be viewed.” Damon chuckled.
“Well, porn doesn’t talk back, it doesn’t set you up in a blackmail scheme, and it doesn’t require the words ‘I love you.’” Drew rolled his eyes. God, he was pathetic.
“Tell me something. Why haven’t you bothered to call Liv? I mean, it seems like both of you are attracted to one another…yesterday you wouldn’t take your eyes off her and seemed jealous about Drake being too close.”
Drew ignored Damon. Attraction and sex don’t always make for good relationships. All he had to do was to think of Shay and how that played out to know.
“You’re scared.” Damon laughed. “I didn’t think you were scared of anything, man.”
Drew turned and glared. “I’m not scared.”
“Whatever, bro. It can be our little secret,” Damon teased.
“I’m not scared, asshole.” Drew turned back and looked at the window. It was almost like being in the third grade again with Damon at times.
“Well, what’s the problem then? And don’t even tell me you weren’t all that into her. I know what I saw,” Damon said, prodding for information.
What was the problem? Drew asked himself that a couple of times today. For one, it seemed that Liv didn’t care one way or another when she left. He didn’t know what he expected her to say or what she expected from him, but no words seemed right at the time. “Of course I like her. What’s not to like?”
“So if there is some chemistry there, why aren’t you pursuing it?” Damon asked.
“Liv didn’t have to leave yesterday. There was no hurry for the layout, and she didn’t give me any indication that there was anything more between us than sex. Are you happy now?” Drew asked sarcastically.
“You’re brain-dead, I swear.” Damon shook his head. “Even I could tell there was more going on than just sex. I saw the way she looked at you and noticed how her face lit up when you were around…the woman has fallen for you, but you’re as dense as a post, bro.”
“Yeah, well you’re a dick.” Drew gave Damon his famous middle-finger salute. The same salute that graced the front page of the
Dallas Observer
.
“Life’s too short, bro,” Damon said and left it at that.

Liv and Regan entered the restaurant and were seated. “We haven’t been here in years, Liv. I’m so glad we decided to come here.”
Liv smiled. “Me, too.” It was difficult to put on a happy face. She wanted a do-over of the week so she could relive her time with Drew. Looking back, it was one of the most erotic and fun weeks she had ever had.
The waitress came over and placed drink napkins down with a greeting. “Can I get you something from the bar while you look over the menu?”
Liv was staring out across the restaurant in another world, so Regan ordered.
“Thanks,” Regan said to the waitress, who walked toward the bar.
“So, I was thinking. It’s been a couple of years since I changed up my ad campaign, and since I’ll be opening my second location I need the best person for the job I can find.” Regan smiled.
“A second location? That’s fantastic, Regan!” Liv beamed. “Oh, and I know exactly who you should hire.”
“I thought you might have an idea!” Regan laughed, “Ooh, there’s our drink order.”
The waitress set down the frilly drinks. “Are you ready to order?”
Regan tried not to panic. “Oh, I need a couple of minutes. Sorry sweetie, I got to talking.”
“What’s this?” Liv raised a questioning brow. “I don’t remember ordering a drink.”
Regan giggled. “I ordered because you were zoning off. It’s sex on the beach. Try it, you’ll like it!” Damon had told her that once. It seemed appropriate now and kind of humorous because it was an inside joke that only she and Damon shared.
Liv picked up the drink and nodded when the concoction hit her tongue. She supposed she should look over the menu before the waitress returned, and besides, her stomach growled, reminding her that she was hungry. She picked up the menu and went about making a decision while she weighed the pros and cons of each with Regan. They began to giggle while they reminisced about the last time they had eaten here so many years ago. It was the time Regan tripped over a potted cactus on her way to the bathroom and had the entire restaurant as an audience.
Good times.
When Liv made her decision, she put her menu down only to look up and see Damon and Drew standing looking at her and Regan. She momentarily lost her breath. Drew looked hotter than hell in his starched jeans and button-up blue shirt that made his eyes seem more intense, and heavens, he was wearing a black Stetson. She was speechless, her blood pressure had risen considerably, and lust filled her brain while she remembered what was concealed underneath those jeans.
Damon grinned while Drew looked as overcome with desire as Liv. Regan got up and motioned for Drew to sit down. Drew complied and looked confused but happy. Damon and Regan made no attempt to sit down and just smiled.
“Well, you two have a nice evening. Drew, here are the keys to my truck,” Damon said.
“Wait, y’all aren’t having dinner with us?” Liv asked.
Regan laughed. “You’re very perceptive, sweetie!”
“But what about your drink you ordered?” Liv was confused.
“Is that sex on the beach, baby?” Damon laughed when Regan nodded. He looked at Drew. “Try it. You’ll like it,” he said, wrapping his arm around Regan and leading her to the door.
“That must be a private joke.” Drew turned to look at Liv. “So, I guess it’s just me and you…I’m glad it worked out this way,” he admitted.
“Same here.” Liv smiled.
After Drew and Liv ordered, the conversation was minimal. Neither knew what to say. Liv struggled with her trembling fingers which she found odd since they had already had sex multiple times. Being around Drew seemed to electrify every nerve ending in her body. Just looking at him made her shiver with excitement. He could command and take control of her body in the most primal way, the way she liked to be taken. Liv felt that men needed to be in control in the bedroom. Outside was a different story. Outside a relationship to her was a partnership, give and take.
Each subtle move Drew made had Liv tensing. She watched his strong arms and the way his chest flexed with his movements. She recalled how fantastic he looked without clothing. Her fingers tingled, wanting to explore the planes of his body and feel the muscles contract at her touch, and they also wanted to wrap tightly around his dick, her ears wanting to hear him groan with pleasure.
Drew flashed Liv a wicked and playful smile. “If your mind is as far gone as mine, let’s get our dinner to go and get the hell out of here. I have to touch you.” His finger lightly glided down her bare arm.
Liv closed her eyes and clenched her thighs tight to keep them from trembling. Drew’s lips kissed her neck. Yes, she knew how he felt. She wanted to touch him, too. It was wild to know he had that power over her. When his fingers trailed along her breast down to her thigh, she caught herself lightly moaning. Her mind snapped to attention.
Oh, hell, we’re still at the restaurant!
She went rigid and looked into his eyes. They were wild and wanting. “Let’s get out of here before we make a scene,” she whispered and took a deep breath.

Drew opened the truck door for Liv and was grateful to Damon and Regan for this night. He should have called Liv, but couldn’t muster up the nerve. This part was easy, the coaxing and teasing. Liv loved it, and so did he. Liv was addictive, plain and simple.
Liv gave him her address and Drew entered it into his GPS. As long as Roy told him where to turn, he’d be just fine. Roy was what Damon named his GPS. It had a male voice, too. He had been in such a funk over women the last year that Damon had eliminated any and all reminders around him. Seeing Regan and Damon every day was enough of a reminder. Drew didn’t need more. But now with Liv away from the ranch, he was miserable. Funny, he cursed her for showing up and for having a nice body, breasts, smile, and eyes. His plan was to resist and stay on his course, but, damn it, the woman was hard to ignore, and actually, he didn’t want to anymore. Drew looked over at Liv, and she smiled. She looked nervous. Her hands were clasped in her lap. Her back was erect and her eyes darted wildly as she looked for anything to focus her attention on.
Maybe it was just the excitement of seeing him again. God, he hoped so. He was so wrapped up immediately when he saw her at the restaurant, he sported his usual erection that he got when he was around her. All he wanted to do was sink his dick home, inside her, and stay there for hours.
Liv’s cell beeped. She looked at Drew to see if he minded. As long as it wasn’t a man vying for her attention, he didn’t care. “I don’t mind if you need to get that,” he said. Roy told him to turn right at the next street. Drew turned on his signal and tried to keep his curiosity at bay. It was killing him to not know who was in Liv’s life. She smiled when she read the message and then shut the phone off completely. Who was it? He wanted to know but wasn’t about to ask. He was being immature.
Apparently Liv sensed his worry. “It was Regan. She’s quite the funny matchmaker, isn’t she?” Liv said and pointed to the parking lot of her apartment complex. “That’s it over there. I’m in building 3A.” Drew felt a rush of relief. Regan, he could handle that. A man, no way. After tonight he decided to really get to know who was a part of Liv’s life.
Drew parked and felt his world shift. Relief. He was here with Liv, and nothing else really mattered. He leaned over and tipped her chin up with his hand. “It hasn’t been the same around the ranch without you.” His lips met hers, and she opened for him to enter. A soft moan tickled his lips, and he pulled her close to his body, Liv’s hands braced on his chest to keep him at bay. “Let’s get inside.”
