“There’s no magic here, just a drug in your drink. Gilroy, it’s me.”

“Enough,” he barked and pulled her up by her shoulders. “I don’t need

conversation from the likes of you.” He shook her mercilessly and she closed her eyes,

fighting back tears. “Now, clean me off so I don’t have to smell you when I leave here.”

She obeyed but no longer enjoyed being in his company. He wrapped long fingers

around her masked head as she did what he’d asked. A cold breeze violated her nude

body and she tried to pull away but Gilroy held her head in place.

“You got a live one there?” Andru’s slurred speech brought panic to her and she

stiffened.

“Oh yeah, my lord, she wants more.” Gilroy’s voice swam above her head.

“Let me help you out then.” She heard Andru and then felt him as he collapsed on

the pillows behind her.

It was a feeble attempt trying to get away from Gilroy’s iron grip as strong, cold

hands grabbed her bottom. She felt Andru’s fingers probe her and spread her apart, and

she gasped.

“Please. Gilroy, Andru,” she managed to say before Gilroy forced her back to her

task.

“How do you know our names, she-witch?” Andru’s voice was unusually cruel-

sounding and he literally lifted her back end and then placed her so his erection pushed

against her. She gagged as she realized what was about to happen and that she could do

nothing about it.

Ana tried to pull back and answer. She scooted her bottom away from him but

Andru’s strong hands literally lifted and forcibly placed her right where he wanted her.

She could feel him probing against her, spreading her open for him, exposing her.

Andru entered her with a vengeance. He slammed into her with such fury that she

almost swallowed Gilroy. Both men groaned loudly and Andru slammed into her

again. She closed her eyes tightly, which caused tears to flow down her cheeks. This

couldn’t be happening. This was Andru—her brother! How could he not know it was

her? How could Gilroy not recognize her? Both men pummeled into her repeatedly,

matching each other’s rhythm. To her disgust and complete revulsion, her body met

their demands and she arched her back as Andru kneaded her rear end. She could feel

Gilroy
begin to fill and a salty taste entered her mouth. She licked savagely until she

drained him and then he collapsed.

Andru continued to drive into her but she was beyond trying to make him stop. She

accepted the fact that her own brother could send her to places she thought only Gilroy

could take her. She rested her head on Gilroy’s stomach and gazed up at his face. He

propped his head against several pillows and wrapped his hands behind his head. His

eyes were closed and there was a small smile of satisfaction on his face. She relished his

handsome features and steady breathing underneath her cheek and relaxed her body

until Andru exploded inside her.

“An-nea…An-nea?” A voice whispered from far away.

Ana stirred and woke up slowly, aware of the incredible warmth that surrounded

her body. Strong bodies covered her front and back like blankets and she felt very

protected and safe. Her cheek rested against a firm, hairy chest and her hand rested on

a muscular hip. She leaned against a strong chest and long legs intertwined with hers. A

large hand gently rested on her hip and steady breathing both in front and behind her

enveloped her with security and well-being.

“An-nea!” She opened her eyes when someone tugged her foot. “You look very

comfortable, sister, but we need to go.”

Ana opened her eyes and saw Lara standing over her holding Ana’s pants in her

hand. She stood fully dressed at the end of the bed and allowed her eyes to travel

slowly over the three naked bodies. Her smile was lustful and it was apparent she

realized the perversions that happened there just hours before. If only she knew how

perverted the actions had been!

Reality crept into Ana’s foggy brain as she remembered the acts she’d committed

and the actions taken on her body. She was sleeping in between her brother and Gilroy.

They were all naked and intertwined. A most compromising position. Bile rose in her

throat and she worked herself free from the sleeping men. As she started to sit up,

Gilroy’s arm came up and pulled her back down.

“That one’s a little possessive,” Lara said and chuckled softly.

Ana cringed. You don’t know the half of it.

“Meet me outside when you’re ready.” Lara strolled out of the tent after fully

consuming the two naked men with her eyes.

Ana worked her way free from Gilroy and sat on the edge of the bed. She couldn’t

face either one of them right now and prayed neither of them woke up. What they’d

done to her! Was this the way the two of them treated the whores they slept with? Then

a worse thought entered her mind—if she hadn’t been here, would they have done

what they did to her to some other woman? Had they shared a woman before? Neither

one of them seemed uncomfortable about their actions last night. Her stomach turned.

It was repulsive—repulsive and disgusting.

Ana stood up and allowed her legs to gain strength from their jelly form before

moving. Her brain was foggy and she blamed that on the drug Lara had given her. But

her body tingled everywhere. She was sore, raw beyond belief, and grossly satisfied. Oh

Crator, certainly she didn’t enjoy herself. What she’d done was wrong, wasn’t it?

She untangled her clothes from Gilroy’s and Andru’s and then pulled her cape and

mask off. She turned around and began pulling on her pants. She looked up and saw

Andru’s eyes flutter and froze.

Don’t wake up…please don’t wake up. Just let me get out of here and as far away from you

as possible.

His eyes opened and dark gray eyes fell upon dark gray eyes. His eyes were glassy

and quite fogged over and she wasn’t sure if he acknowledged where he was or not.

More than likely he was still drunk…and drugged.

She buttoned up her shirt, all the while staring at him, then pulled her mask over

her head and pulled the cape around her body.

“You lousy-ass son of a bitch,” she hissed at him, then walked out of the tent.

Chapter Three

Snow was falling when the small group of she-witches broke camp and pulled

away from the fools’ festival. Ana and Lara helped each other strap their gliders to the

backs of the trailers and then drove slowly across a barren field as snow accumulated

on the ground.

It took several days to reach their destination—the Red Horn Clan—a clan of about

seven hundred Runners. Ana’s stomach tied into knots when the trailers and gliders,

lodged in among the hills, came into view. Why were they here? What were they going

to do?

She needed to leave Lara and do something else.

No, she needed to discover exactly what Lara was doing and then stop her.

Lara and Ana had parted ways with Pul-rah, She-rah, and Shara the day before.

Lara told Ana she usually did this part herself but she thought Ana would be an asset.

Ana was scared as hell.

“They probably already know we’re here,” Ana said, in form of a greeting when

Lara entered her trailer. They’d parked alongside each other right on the edge of the

tree line bordering one side of the clan site.

“That’s okay. We’re not trying to hide.” Lara smiled and handed Ana a black

bundle. “Here, put these on and then come outside.”

“These are Runner clothes.” Ana held up the headscarf that Lara had tossed on her

table. “What are you planning on doing?”

“I’ll tell you the plan after you change clothes. Hurry up.” And Lara left her alone

in the trailer staring at the Runner clothing.

“We’ll wait until dark unless they approach us first.” Lara sat on a fallen tree they’d

dragged over to their fire and leaned her elbows on her knees.

“And if they approach us first?” Ana studied Lara in her Runner outfit. Her body

was slim and well-toned. Ana would never have doubted her validity as a Runner.

Scary thought. She watched Lara’s eyes over the rim of her coffee mug. They’d changed

clothes and still hadn’t seen each other’s faces. Ana realized Lara didn’t want her to see

what she looked like any more than Ana wanted her features revealed. “What clan are

we from? Who are we?”

“We’re from the Blood Circle Clan.” Lara looked up as if she knew her words

would affect Ana. “It’s the most powerful clan of all the Runner clans and known for

having the best warriors. We’re both on the age of searching and, I don’t know…be

whoever you want to be. But I’d definitely change my name if I were you. Lara is a

Runner name.”

“You know an awful lot about Runners.” Ana studied Lara for a moment and the

two women met each other’s gaze and held them. “Lara, where are you from?” she

dared to ask.

Lara studied her a moment longer before reaching for the coffeepot and refilling her

cup. Ana didn’t dare break the silence. She’d dared to ask the question and now she

would wait to see if she would get an answer.

“I don’t know if you’d believe me if I told you.”

“Try me.”

“I’m a Runner.” Ana choked on her coffee and looked up at Lara as if for the first

time. She no longer looked foreboding—there was something about the she-witch cape

that offered that aura. She looked obsessed. Obsessed with a cause that Ana had yet to

discover.

“What clan are you from?” She figured she’d go for broke until Lara refused to

answer.

“I’m not from a clan. I wasn’t raised a Runner.” Lara kicked at the fire and

suddenly looked very bitter. “How about you? Where are you from?”

Ana was ready with her answer. “I’m from the Tree People nation.”

“From the other side of the mountains?”

“You’ve heard of us?”

“Not really. I just heard of the name of the race.”

Ana nodded, relieved she didn’t have to test her memory and provide more

information.

“What do we want with this clan?” She tried to sound indifferent as she now

reached to refill her mug.

“Merchandise.” Lara’s sultry tone returned and the glow in her eyes came back.

“We’ve got a large order to fill.”
