“There are cameras.” I say flatly as my gaze shifts to the now closed door and once more back to him.

“There is also a thing called money. It buys silence, especially in this country.” He says, his voice strained.

“You really do think of everything.” I whisper as he steps closer, our noses brushing against each other’s, “Are you angry with me?”

“No.” He growls as his hands grip my ass. I’m yanked to him as his lips crash into mine. He swiftly lifts me as I wrap my legs around his hips. My breath hitches as he slams my back against the wall. He pulls my panties to the side before releasing his erection. I cry out as he slams himself into my swollen, wet pussy, I almost immediately orgasm as he fucks me hard against the wall. My eyes travel to Max, looking at his swollen face as an orgasm racks through my body.

Chapter Twenty-Nine: Gabe

I
HAVE EXPECTATIONS. You’re all to be paid well… very, very well – as long as you remember two key factors; what occurs in my home is my business. You may see some things, but I recommend that you turn around and go on about your day. I’m sure that you are intelligent enough to understand that I am a man who expects and appreciates privacy. That is the first thing to remember. My business is my own. If you choose to go against my wishes, then your life will end. It’s really that simple. Now, the second factor…” I pause as I allow the dark melody flowing from my grand piano in the music room to consume the silent foyer, “My beautiful wife. There will be times that she will stay here while I travel. She is not to leave. If she needs anything, it is your job to ensure that she gets it in a timely manner. She is to be respected. She’s the lady of the house.” I look towards the two men that I have hired as security, “We’ve discussed the proper protocol should she decide to act up, with Amelia, you never know what to expect.”

They nod in response.

“Amelia!” I holler as my eyes travel down my uniformly lined up staff. The music ceases and I hear her heals tapping against the marble flooring in the distance. She appears by my side and I nod towards the staff, “Amelia my love, as we’ve discussed, I have hired a staff to ensure your needs are met while I’m away on business.” She nods curtly as she first approaches the maid and reaches out a hand, “Hello. My name’s Amelia Thibault.” The elderly, Hispanic woman nods, “Si, senora, you are beautiful, very. Mi nombre es Esmerelda.” Amelia moves to the tall, balding butler. “Mrs. Thibault, it is an absolute pleasure. My name is Benedict.”

She stops and looks up at the first guard. Neither one of the guards has moved their eyes from the space in front of them. Theo is standing in front of her, he’s a retired military vet. His hair is brunette and cut military style, he’s a huge bastard, bigger than myself.  He’s practically made of steal. “Hello.” She says, but he doesn’t respond. She looks over her shoulder towards me, “Meaty here doesn’t talk?”

I smile as I step beside her, “Not to you. They’re here to make sure you stay put while I’m gone.”

Chapter Thirty: Amelia

I
GLARE AT GABE. The amusement on his face is mocking… mocking of my predicament. He can go fuck himself. I move on from “Meaty” and on to the slightly shorter, leaner gentleman beside him – though he is still much larger than myself.

He’s very handsome. His face is clean-shaven and he has hazy blue eyes are gentle with a gleam of potential mischievousness. His brown hair is cut into a short Mohawk and he has gauges in his ears. He’s wearing a tight, black shirt, which displays his hard muscles underneath. His arms are covered in tribal tattoos. I realize that I’m holding my breath as my eyes graze over his hard body.

My eyes snap back to his empty, unmoving stare, “Are you like Meaty over there? Can’t talk?”

He stays entirely still, but the corners of his lips curl slightly, showing a shadow of an amused grin.

I smile slightly as I turn to face Gabe.

“That is Theo,” He says, nodding to Meaty, “And that is Able.” He continues.

“Able.”
I think to myself, consciously playing with his name in my mind. Watching the curves of the letters, which spell it. Wondering if this name is fitting for him… if so, I think I’ll like him.

“Now, I’ve got work to attend to. I’ve got two days until I leave for the first trip.” Gabe says, before turning and disappearing into one of the doors lined along the foyer.

My eyes move back to the staff, all look at me, as if waiting for me to say or do something.

“Mrs. Thibault, we’re waiting to be excused.” Benedict says, offering a smile.

“Oh,” I respond, “Yes, of course.”

They all go scattering through the foyer doors. Meaty goes through the front. I’m left facing Able as he stands in his statuesque stance. His eyes are locked in front of him, still.

“Um…” I say softly as I take a few steps towards him, “Able, you can go now.”

He stands completely still. I’m beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with him. Did he simply freeze in time?

I hesitantly lift my arm and wave my hand in front of his eyes. I jump when his large hand grips my wrist in a flash, and his stormy blue eyes snap to mine. My eyes grow wide as my bottom lip trembles. He shakes his head sternly before abruptly releasing his hold. My breath hitches as his eyes remain locked onto mine, a smile playing at his lips.

I take a step back and look at him defiantly, “I’m leaving now. I-I’m going to go play… the piano.” I begin to turn as I whisper, “Goodbye.”

My footsteps have an echo, and I look over my shoulder to see that his are following my own as he trails behind me. I raise an eyebrow and continue on my way. Maybe he is going the same direction as me. That would make sense.

Step for step, he continues to match my own as I enter the music room. It’s decorated in sleek white fabrics. The shiny, black piano contrasts against it magnificently as it sits on a shaggy, round red rug. A tall black vase sits in the corner with an arrangement of red roses flooding from it. I look towards the black, double doors, and see Able standing with his hands folded in front of him.

I glare at him as I take a seat at the smooth, black bench, “You can go now, do as you please – I don’t care, just shut the door.”

I shake my head in frustration as I turn towards the task at hand and ready my fingers above the keys. I hear the door shut and let out a sigh. The room is still feeling restricted and I feel the burn of a gaze as I shift on the bench. I turn to see that he’s still there.

I look at him incredulously as I stand and approach him, “Go. I’d like to play alone.”

He does no such thing. He just… stands there, looking incredibly handsome, might I add.

I roll my eyes, “As you wish.”

I turn and begin walking towards the piano as I say, “You know… I wouldn’t think that a man like you would be scared into silence by my husband.”

“I’m not afraid.” He says immediately. His voice is stern. Hardened, void of emotion.

I whip around to face him. “He speaks.”

Finally, his face breaks into the smile that he’d been suppressing. My face flushes as I look over his handsome face, only made more so by his beautiful smile. Wow. A legitimate smile. It’s been so long since I’ve seen that, a real smile, coming from a handsome man. Gabe smiles, but the only things that make him smile are the misfortunes of others. Able’s smile, though… It melts me. It’s breathtaking.

“He said that you wouldn’t speak to me.” I whisper.

His smile doesn’t falter, “He’s not here.”

I feel the corners of my mouth lift at his response. Something in me shifts. My heart beats quickly as admiration for Able’s ability to make such a sad girl smile pumps through my veins. I feel like an invisible wave crashes over me as goose bumps spread over my skin, causing the hairs at the back of my neck to stand at attention. Who is this man? An angel? Sent to me? Sent to this life that has become my own personal hell?

“Why are you here?” I ask.

He shrugs, “To work for your husband.”

I shake my head, “No, you followed me. Why?”

He tilts his head as he contemplates his answer before finally responding.

“I’ve been told to stay by your side. In case you try and run.”

I scoff, “I can’t run.”

His deep eyes implore mine, “Anyone can run.”

Chapter Thirty-One: Able

T
HE SOUND FLOWING FROM THE INSTRUMENT as a result of her talented, beautiful fingers is mesmerizing. She’s absolutely stunning. Perfection. Something tells me that she’s not supposed to be here. It’s almost like she’s wearing a mask; hidden behind a façade. My curiosity is certainly peaked.

She’s playful. I can see it in the flecks of gold throughout her chestnut colored eyes. Those eyes are closed now as she sways slightly from side to side, allowing the music to claim her. Her fingers move as if they are detached from her slow moving body. They are eager and fast, making the task look impossibly simple. Her lips are slightly parted, reminding me of when I would watch my mother put on her eye makeup when I was a kid; a sign of concentration.

I knew there would be a woman and a man involved when I was cleared for employment. The man, I knew to be incredibly wealthy – yet he wasn’t an active figure amongst the rich that dwell in the area. No. He’s extremely secretive. I’ve worked for many men and women. Protecting their discretion. Protecting them from danger. Generally, I would deal with celebrities, sometimes the mob. Those were always shorter jobs. I’ve been looking for something more permanent, and this seems to be it – so long as I protect Gabe’s privacy. It’s never been an issue before – I don’t see it being one now. However, I’ve never been given the duty of following a man’s wife because she may run.
Run
. From him, I suppose. Why would she do that? He’s her husband.

Seemingly, if I were to base this on looks alone – they
look
to be a perfect couple. They’re both good looking. However, something is boiling away under the surface. He looks at her, not with love, but with obsession. She, on the other hand, looks towards him with defiance. Perhaps it’s a loveless marriage. Maybe it was arranged.

I’ll find out eventually, people’s secrets tend to expose themselves over time when they think you’re not watching.
