“I’d like your arms bound, or you can hold them motionless,” he whispered into her ear. “Your choice.”

Kendra knew how much he loved the binding, and guessed that he needed to feel in control. “Tie them, please, Reid. I want to be more bound.”

He kissed her cheek, and positioned her so her hips were against the back of the chair. She guessed she was facing the mirror. He moved her legs apart, then stood behind her again. “Don’t move,” he whispered and she nodded once.

She heard the door open, then close again. She hoped he wouldn’t take long, but no matter how long it took was too long. Her entire puss was throbbing, her clitoris aching and her labia thick with need. She was wetter than wet, her entire being focused on her need for release.

He rang the bell before he entered again and she licked her lips and straightened at the sound, wanting him to like what he saw. He shut the door hard, ensuring she heard it, and she felt his heat behind her again. “This will make it easier,” he said and locked one of the leather shackles around her wrist. He put the other one on her other wrist, then untied the knots in the rope that surrounded her body. He worked slowly and steadily, letting the smooth rope slide over her skin. When the rope was only knotted around her waist and her arms were free, he folded her arms behind her back. Her right hand cupped her left elbow and her left hand the right elbow. He crossed the rope in front of her again, then fed it through the d-rings on the manacles.

He tugged it once hard, trapping her arms in place, then knotted it again. To Kendra’s surprise, he wrapped the rest of the rope around her quickly and roughly, binding her upper arms to her body all over again. She was caught in a net of smooth rope, knotted tightly in place.

“Too much?” he whispered in her ear, his voice particularly husky.

Kendra shook her head.

He fingered her nipple. “You look like you’re bound helpless.”

She struggled then, knowing he needed to see her try to free herself. “I am,” she whispered, thrilled at his open-mouthed kiss of need. He almost ate her whole, his cock pressing against her hip, his hands roving over her, his ropes trussing her in the pose he wanted. He did something with that wicked little butterfly because it vibrated faster and harder, nearly driving Kendra over the edge.

“Now,” Reid muttered as he ended the kiss. He bent Kendra over the back of the chair, spreading her cheeks wide with his hands. She felt him move the rope aside and made an involuntary sound of need. Kendra tipped up her hips, wanting him inside her, then caught her breath when he filled her with one smooth stroke. He was thick and hard and he moaned when he was buried inside her.

“Gorgeous Kendra,” he muttered. “Just look at you.”

Kendra smiled and arched her back, knowing he was watching her in the mirror. He caught her hips in his hands and moved inside her. She knew the moment he lost the battle to go slowly. His pace increased and she rolled her hips, trying to drive him as wild as he was driving her.

“And who’s the sex slave?” Reid said as he drilled her steadily. “Who’s the captive and who’s the master?”

Kendra didn’t know and she didn’t care. She only knew that sex with Reid was the best she’d ever had, and no matter what he did to her, or for how long, it was never enough. She heard his breathing accelerate, she felt him moving more quickly inside her, she felt him thicken even more and stretch her wider. His hands were roving over her, his lips were on the back of her neck, his breath feathered across her skin. “Kendra!” he whispered, then speared his fingers through her pubic hair and pressed on the butterfly. His touch drove its fluttering hard against her clitoris and Kendra knew she wouldn’t be able to stop her release. “Come now,” he commanded and Kendra was powerless to do anything else.

She roared in her release, not caring who heard her, loving only that Reid shouted immediately afterward. He thrust deep and hard, then she felt the heat of his semen spilling inside her. They sagged against the chair together, his forehead on her shoulder.

“It’s those damn shoes,” he whispered and Kendra smiled.

“I’ll have to get a few more pairs,” she teased and he laughed under his breath. Then he straightened and tipped her over his shoulder, flinging open the door and carrying her out of their mock safe room. Wherever he was taking her, Kendra was only too happy to be carried along.

He’d never get enough of Kendra. Reid took her once more in the shower, kissing her endlessly as he had her against the slick wet tiles. He was tempted again by her rosy skin when she toweled herself off, and had her again on the bathroom floor. He might have been able to resist her in the bedroom, but she feel to her knees and took him in her mouth, just as she had that first time. Just like the first time, her impulsive move shorted his circuits. She welcomed his touch with an honesty that thrilled him, and there was no way her passion could be feigned.

He wanted desperately to spank her so hard she fidgeted on her seat at lunch, but wasn’t sure she was ready for that kind of punishment yet. He supposed such pleasures could wait. She’d done wonderfully on this day, better than he’d expected, but he didn’t want to push too far.

He didn’t want to lose one bit of what they’d gained.

They were late to the lunch he’d ordered to be prepared, but his staff were too well-trained to comment on it. They walked into the dining room hand-in-hand, showered and sated and casually dressed. Reid was pretty sure everyone in his household knew what was going on between himself and Kendra.

She smiled at him, her hair spilling loose over her shoulders, her expression so contented that he was filled with pride.

And an unfamiliar kind of joy.

The view from the wide span of windows in the dining room was spectacular. The snow was falling with greater speed now, gathering on the trees in the ravine. It looked like a winter wonderland. In the dining room, the long stone table was set with two places, and a fire blazed in the fireplace. “It’s beautiful,” Kendra said when they entered the room. “But there should be more color.”

“You think?”

“Fresh flowers,” she said with a nod. “It would be the finishing touch.”

“I’m not home enough for them to be enjoyed,” Reid said as he held her chair. “But maybe that will change.”

She cast him a radiant smile, one that sent a different kind of pleasure surging through him. It would be easy to become accustomed to living with Kendra. The meal was delicious although Reid couldn’t have said later what it was. He was too busy watching Kendra.

Savoring her presence in his house.

She put down her fork at the end of lunch and gave him a look that warned him. “Just because I found the cameras doesn’t mean that’s the end of it,” she said, giving voice to his own fear. “We still don’t know who set them up or who sent them to you.”

“But you have an idea.” Reid sipped his coffee, trying to quell his concern. Kendra was safe in his house. He wasn’t going to leave her alone until this was resolved, and maybe not after that. Everything would work out just fine.

“You know she wasn’t really blonde, right?”

Reid smiled. “I knew that right away. She didn’t fool me on that.”

Kendra propped her chin on her hands as she watched him, her expression pensive. “Do you think the guy who killed her is targeting me?”

Reid felt as if a cold hand had closed around his heart. “I hope not,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady.

“But you think so, too,” she concluded, watching him. Reid didn’t deny it, because he didn’t want there to be any deception between them. “That’s why you wanted me to stay here, not because of Ethan.”

“Ethan isn’t going to trouble you again.”

Kendra smiled briefly. “I know. But what do you think Alana’s killer will do?” She drummed her fingers. “He has to know where I live, which means he probably knows a lot of other stuff about me.”

Reid hated thinking about it. “You’ll drive to work with me in the morning.”

Kendra shook her head. “No. I think we should try to draw him out.”

“What?” Reid spun to face her. “No. Absolutely not.”

“I don’t see any other way to find out who he is,” Kendra replied reasonably. She appeared to be untroubled by his fear. “If I can draw him out, it might change his plan somehow and give us an advantage...”

“No! Let the police do their job. You are not going to try to solve this on your own.”

She folded her arms across her chest and gave him a cool glance. “This is about my safety.”

“It certainly is.”

“You can’t be with me all the time, Reid. I won’t live like a prisoner. I won’t be filled with fear every time I take a step outside or get in my car or answer the door.” Her eyes flashed. “I won’t tolerate it.”

“You won’t put yourself in danger either. I won’t tolerate that.”

“Maybe it’s just a calculated risk.”

“You don’t know enough about this person to calculate a risk. It’s a long shot, and one that could have dire repercussions.”

She smiled at him. “I appreciate your concern, but you’re not thinking about this logically...”

“You’re the one who isn’t thinking logically, Kendra.” Reid spoke with authority. “I forbid you to do this and that’s that.” He sat down beside her, not really surprised when she shook her head.

“Nope.”

He glared at her.

“Unless you have an alternative plan.”

“I don’t and you know it,” Reid admitted. He shook a finger at her, not even wanting to consider her being hurt. “Don’t tempt me to tie you down for your own safety.”

Kendra grinned at him, clearly unafraid. “Too bad the safe room’s not done. You could lock me up to make sure I did as I was told.”

“This isn’t a joke, Kendra.” Reid didn’t know what he could say to convince her. She looked determined, and given how vehemently he disagreed with her, that wasn’t a good sign. He got to his feet and strode to the window, then back again. “There has to be another solution,” he said. “Something we can both agree on.”

“Or you could see sense and agree with me.”

“Kendra!”

Their gazes locked and held, his determination doing nothing to shake hers. Kendra folded her arms across her chest and stared back at him, every bit as resolved as Reid.

The doorbell rang, seeming overly loud. Jackson answered the door and there was a murmur of voices before he came to the dining room.

“Detective Moynihan, sir,” Jackson said and Reid turned in surprise.

The detective looked solemn. “I have a warrant for your arrest, Mr. Stirling, for the murder of Alana Stirling. You have the right to remain silent...”

“No!” Kendra cried, leaping to her feet, but Reid shook his head.

She stayed where she was with obvious reluctance as the detective read Reid his rights. Reid looked at Jackson, and the older man nodded understanding. They would take care of Kendra for him, however long this took.

Jackson would ensure she didn’t leave the house.

“Call in to Esperanza tomorrow and run it as if you own the place,” he told Kendra as the police detective went through his rights. “I’ll back every choice you make and will be back as soon as I can.”

“I shall call your lawyers, sir,” Jackson said and Reid nodded.

“It’s not true,” Kendra protested, seemingly unable to remain silent. “You’ve arrested the wrong person.”

“If you have any additional information, I’d be happy to meet with you in the morning at the police station,” Moynihan said.

“You will not leave this house,” Reid said.

Kendra cast him a mutinous glance. She sat down hard at the table, her features pale, and Reid feared she’d act on her instincts while he wasn’t around to dissuade her or protect her.

“No. I’m coming with you now,” she said to Moynihan.

“Kendra!”

Kendra lifted her chin. “You’re innocent, Reid. I can’t just let them lock you away.”

“Another officer will take Miss Jones to the station and return her to the house after our discussion,” Moynihan said smoothly.

It was a compromise, and better than nothing, but Reid wasn’t happy. “You could talk to her here.”

Moynihan smiled and shook his head. His expression indicated that he enjoyed denying Reid’s request.

Because he didn’t think Kendra was in danger.

Reid would have preferred to have argued with Kendra about it, but he suspected he’d lose. She went to get her coat and packed up her laptop, so she was ready to go. So long as he was in jail, there was very little he could do to protect her. The officer led him from the house in handcuffs and Reid hoped with all his might that Kendra wouldn’t take any risks.

Even though he knew she would.

He had to get out on bail as soon as possible.

For Kendra’s sake.

* * *

Kendra couldn’t believe it.

She couldn’t believe that the police thought Reid killed Alana. She knew he hadn’t done it, but she supposed they must have proof.

It couldn’t be very good proof.

She clutched her laptop, hoping the police could identify the man in those images. Maybe he had a police record. Maybe they could search their database with face recognition software. Kendra had to hope.
