“Oh, Gods, I‟m not sure I can wait much longer. I need to.. the moon, where is it?”

He rinsed his hands and then poised his crown at her slick center.

She cried out when he pushed inside. This first joining would be quick and raw and pagan, but they had the rest of the night. He commenced fucking and she met him thrust for thrust, her tissues already milking at him.

“Damn, Eva. You‟re so tight. So hot. Close to coming already.”

Overhead the clouds shifted and gently rumbled, and the moon‟s first light found them. Together, they shouted their joy as his second cock erupted from him, nudging along her rear crease and spearing high.

Pulling back slightly from her quim, he grasped this new shaft with fingers that shook. Then in a smooth motion, he positioned it at her rear opening and pushed inside in long, oil-slickened, dual glides until she held him more deeply and fully than he recalled any woman having done.

She screamed and arched up, her arms pulling at the ropes, pushing against him, trying to make their joining harder, rougher, more primal.

And he was right there with her, bucking into her in hard slams. The sound of their moans and gasps and the wet slaps of heated flesh echoed in the temple and more gently through the grove to disappear among the trees and mist.

Dane‟s chin lifted, his throat tight as he gazed at the heavens, seeking the moon‟s beneficence. “With my seed, let us bring life this night,” he murmured. Through the gnarled branches grown heavy with olives overhead, he saw the clouds shift and part for the luminous light he and his mate craved. With the strengthening of this drenching glow, he came in her with a great roar, both his cocks pumping hot spurts of syrupy semen into her simultaneously. She came almost immediately, her thighs shaking and her tissues fisting him as her cry rode the cool, rain-soaked air.

Eva fainted briefly, and when she came to, a haze of ecstatic sparks danced in her vision. His pelvic cock had already receded into his flesh, not to return until another Moonful. Yet still she felt so full of him, so full of his seed that it dribbled from her.

The sparks in her vision had dwindled to an iridescent glow. She lifted her head slightly. An iridescent hand worked at the ropes tethering her, untying them. She gasped. Shimmerskins! Two. Both male. Muscled male. Her gaze went lower. Very muscled.

Her ropes released and she pushed up with one cock still inside her.

“Dane?”

“Think of them as a belated wedding gift,”he said from behind her, his prick beginning to rock in her again.

“But—“

“It excites me to share you, when and how we both want it. I‟ll direct them and sometimes direct you to please them for my enjoyment.

Will you like that?”

Luminescent hands swept over her breasts and downward as the first Shimmerskin knelt before her. A hot mouth covered her clit. A tongue pressed, stroked.

Passionate tears filled her eyes, blending with the soft, pattering mist. Resting back against him, she nodded and twisted slightly to draw his lips down to hers. “I love you.”Her words fell on him like rain on parched, cracked earth and he soaked them in.

“And I you,” he said solemnly in return, his gaze full of emotion as he wrapped strong arms around her.

Dane mated her there until dawn, on the altar where his ancestors had mated their women for centuries. Against the wall, on the steps.

They made love in the cleansing rain and among furs and pillows in the central room, reconsecrating this temple with their passion. Making this land pure and whole again. And whispering sweet words of love.

EPILOGUE

Lying in bed the next morning, Eva turned her head to smile at Dane, feeling love well up in her. He was asleep, and so beautiful. So strong and good, and so wonderfully hers. Carefully, so as not to wake him, she rolled toward the bedside table and pulled a small leather-bound book from it. Yet another gift from Dane, to help heal her loss of her mother‟s book, which lay buried in the labyrinth. This new journal was filled with crisp, blank pages only waiting for her to record the joys of her future days. She took up a pen, the urge filling her to start. For this felt like a new beginning—the morning after her first Moonful with Dane.

Her husband. What a delicious word it was when applied to him.

I shall begin with how things are.

I am married now to Lord Dane Satyr, and we have legally adopted Mimi and Lena as our own. Mimi dogs Dane‟s footsteps and is turning into a farmer before our eyes, fascinated with his olives and grapevines.

Lena dotes on Lucien like a little mother and misses him now that he has gone to ElseWorld.

Pinot and his lover exist in bliss in their small house on Viminal Hill, but we see him often as he does our household accounts and investments as part of the financial business he has begun. As for Odette, she is dead, and I can‟t bring myself to speak of her yet, so I shall move on to happier matters.

Bastian has recently made some new discovery in the Forum, a House of Vestals. He has an uncanny knack for locating such amazing things, almost as if he already knows where to look and only has to dig there to find them. I still hope to secure a wife for him, but I fear I may have to look to the museums, for marble statues seem to be the only females that hold his interest.

Sevin works overlong at his Salone di Passione, and I think he may be too successful at it, for he seems always to be there. I hope to see him wed as well, but first I shall work on his brother.

My dearest friend Alexa had been found innocent of wrongdoing in the Patrizzi affair. But she is devastated by her family‟s betrayal and is filled with guilt at the cruel devastation they caused. In a strange way, all that has happened has brought us closer. For I now know her secrets and she knows mine.

Dane and his brothers learned the identities of the others involved in Serafina‟s ring of evil and have bespelled each into forgetting the cult entirely. It wasn‟t possible to reveal the whole matter to the Roman courts, of course, so their punishments must come in time as surreptitious means are found to diminish their fortunes and positions in society and government. And surely, the continuing rise in fame and fortune of the Satyr lords here is a punishment of sorts to them already.

The Council continues to warn that any day now ElseWorld may be exposed. But we exist in a cocoon of happiness here in Rome, and the threat of that larger danger seems distant.

Daniel no longer comes, and Dante visits only when Dane occasionally calls upon him to join us in carnal engagements. This seems to feed some need in Dane, and I confess I enjoy the unexpectedness of it.

I am happy. Truly happy, for my beloved occupies my heart and mind and body in a way that is entirely fulfilling. I am no longer in danger of discovery, for it is assumed by all the ElseWorld creatures who visit us or who pass me on the streets that the scent clinging to me is due to the touch of my husband‟s flesh upon mine. And he does touch me often, as if to assure himself I am real and his.

I hope Fantine would be pleased to know that I have wed such a man as this. She would like that he is wealthy, and that he and his brothers are welcome in the highest circles of Roman society.

But I care only that he loves me. That I am safe. That I am—

Eva gasped and dropped her pen, feeling a strange sensation come over her. A fluttering. Her eyes widened and her hand went to her abdomen. There it was again under her palm! A flutter. Oh! Glory!

She felt the coverlet being tugged away. A hand smoothed down her back. She glanced over her shoulder.

“Yes, I‟m awake, my beloved,” Dane growled, smiling in that sexy way of his. “And wanting attention from my wife.” He turned her, pulling her across his body. The linen sheet was tented, his prick a pole beneath it, but he wasn‟t demanding anything of her and only kissed her in a slow, sweet mating of lips.

The fluttering came again, and he felt it where her belly met his and drew her back. Slow realization darkened his eyes. “Eva?” It was a question. A blaze of hope.

She moved his big hand to cover her abdomen and smiled into his eyes. “Yes, my love. It seems your seed was potent last night. I am enceinte. In a month we will see what sort of wonderful child we made together last night.”

Joy lit his face. “Yes, my sweet satyr wife, we shall indeed.”
