“Is that why spiritual enlightenment is necessary?”

“Yes, the mind of man is more powerful than nature. You are suffering from your state of mind, which is influencing the patterns of nature on your plane.”

Vassy sat watching. I gestured to him to ask a question. He indicated he preferred to wait.

“Okay,” I said. “With all the bad stuff that’s happening in the world today, would you say there is a negative force operating here that is equal to the God-force? I mean, is evil a part of God also?”

“You are speaking of satanic influences?” asked John.

“Yes.”

“The concept of Satan as interpreted in your Bible had its origin as follows: Adam and Eve stood symbolically for the creation of the souls. They were created originally as pure spiritual soul energy, as everyone was. When they became captivated by the material plane, or the earth plane as you know it,
they found themselves incarnated in the bodies of the lower primates because they were seduced by the attractions of physical existence. Because of their fall from grace, they activated the law of karma. Their spiritual and divine origins were only dimly remembered because of the confined restrictions of their physical bodies. The struggle back toward original divinity is what your Bible terms Satan. The Hebrew meaning of the word “Satan”, as the instrument Kevin has told you, is struggle, or that which is not
well
for you. What you term as Satan is merely the force of your lower consciousness as you engage in your struggle to return and know God, which was your origin. The feeling of what you term evil is the struggle with self.”

John stopped talking as though to engage our response. Vassy still didn’t want to talk.

“Well,” I said, “how could we have gone so far wrong about this subject?”

“The struggle for self-knowledge would not be a struggle if one loved God with all one’s heart and soul and one’s neighbor as oneself. For one’s neighbor is one’s self. But mankind set up the dualities of good and evil in order to judge others rather than to discover self. Therefore, it was even possible to make war on one another. Out of lack of knowledge of God came the concept of evil. But when mankind understands that it itself is a collective being representing the God-force, it is impossible to make war on the self. Is this to your understanding?”

“Yes,” I answered. “May I ask you a more specific modern question?”

“Indeed.”

“Is the Soviet Union aware of the need for spiritual enlightenment?”

“Not so much in the realm of the government, but very much so in the realms of psychic researchers. These individuals have spiritualized the intellect. They have come to realize that perhaps there is one universal mind.”

Vassy raised his hand.

“You want to ask something now, sweetheart?” I asked.

“Yes,” he said. “Should I represent myself?”

“If you wish,” said John.

Vassy cleared his throat. “I am Vassily Okhlop-khov-Medvedjatnikov. I am from the Soviet Union and I am now in United States and I would like to work here. My first question is, how can I be effective in my private and social life in the fight against evil or satanic forces?”

There was silence for a moment. Then John said, “Do you consider yourself a soul?”

“Yes.”

“Do you consider yourself born of God?”

“Yes.”

“You are all sons and daughters of God?”

“Yes.”

“Therefore you, in your personal life and personal adventures, acknowledge yourself as a son of God and as a soul. With this, you will educate others, through your own personal acknowledgment.”

“Yes, I will.”

“You must not resist what you call evil. If you seek to struggle against evil, you will find that it has engaged you. You will be lost within the battle. Allow yourself to be fully illumined. Seek to give love and knowledge so that others around you can progress. For if ignorance is destroyed by the example of your life, the satanic force, as you term it, will also be destroyed. For the light is always present, the darkness, which is ignorance, sees the light and does not comprehend. It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness. Darkness is that which you determine as the satanic force. Discover the love and the light within you as well as the love and the light within others. Nurture it. Be patient. Be long suffering. Then in turn you will serve others. Is this to your understanding?”

Vassy leaned forward. “So, you mean,” he said, “that suffering is necessary in this struggle?”

“The Hebrew definition of experience is the knowledge of suffering. Suffering is therefore only experience. Suffering is what you would term long experience. Because there is no time or space. There is only experience. For instance, if an individual comes to you and strikes at you and does you wrong, what would you do? Would you strike back at the individual or would you suffer-experience those things and deal with him with patience? I would hope you would speak peacefully with that individual, that you would bring him to a greater illumination. So great would be his shock, his surprise. For the expected reaction according to his own behavior would be that you would strike him back. Therefore, by experiencing his strike with gentleness, you would give him greater food for thought and overcome his personal ignorance. Then he will have learned, from I our personal suffering-experience, how to overcome is own ignorance. Then perhaps he also will come home to God. That is what we mean by suffering. Is this to your understanding?”

Vassy turned John’s words over in his mind. He made no further reference to the question of evil. Instead he said, “I would like to ask a more private question.”

“Please do.”

“Did Sheerlee and I meet by accident or was it somehow ordained and planned?”

There was a moment of silence. Then John said, “Pause please. There is another entity desiring to speak.”

There was another pause. Then Tom McPherson came through.

“Hello. Tip of the hat to you. How are you doing out there?” He spoke with his familiar, funny Scotch-Irish accent. Vassy and I laughed. Neither of us said anything.

“You are there, are you not?” said McPherson.

We laughed again.

“Yes, we are here,” I said. “You are just so startlingly funny, that’s all.”

“Quite right,” he said. “Now, I understand I have been brought in to answer a question about past lives?”

“Yes,” said Vassy.

“Yes, one moment. Allow me to collect myself.”

There was another pause. “Excuse me,” he said, “I wasn’t quite here. There was a question directed about two persons meeting. Could you redirect the question to myself?”

“Vassy wants to know if he and I met as an accident or part of a plan.”

“One moment please. Allow me to check into this.”

Vassy and I waited while looking at each other.

McPherson came through again.

“Hello, again. I was just in consultation with another entity over here who keeps track of past-life information. According to his records, your meeting
was
a bit planned, in the sense that both of you had a past-life incarnation during a time period in Greece. You were both studying to be oracles. Both of you developed psychic faculties as well as theatrical and drama talents. Therefore you had a full bag of studies. Of course, drama in those days was considered quite sacred, which is not the case these days. Actors and actresses in those days were considered demigods. Therefore both of you during that time period wished to spiritualize your art form even more and you began studying and practicing an esoteric form of the theatrical arts whereby you actually threw yourselves into an altered state of consciousness and channeled great actors from the past. In that lifetime, you were very close friends and stayed close during the entire lifetime. However, during that time your genders were reversed. In other words, the current female was a male and the
current male was a female, which might be reflecting in your personality struggle today.”

Vassy and I laughed. “You see?” he said. “I told you how I identified with the female, didn’t I?” I nodded.

“Then why does he get upset with my ballsy-ness?” I questioned.

“You are currently engaged,” Tom interrupted, “with understanding your yin and yang and passive and nonpassive tendencies. You are learning about male and female energies in one another, as are most of the human beings on the earth plane at this time. But anyway, in answer to your question about this particular lifetime, no, you did not meet by accident. It was definitely mapped out.”

“By whom was it mapped out?” I asked.

“By yourselves, as souls, before this incarnation. We all plan out our own lifetimes before we incarnate so that we can work through particular conflicts and experiences.”

Vassy and I nodded to each other.

“So what are we supposed to do together?” I asked.

“Well, right now we would say you are sort of enjoying each other’s company. In a very intimate sort of way, we would say.”

I laughed and Vassy blushed a bit and smiled.

“But both of you are creative in your art forms. And we believe you are a good polarity for each other. One is rough-and-ready. The other is more meticulous and is developing degrees of sensitivity. Therefore we feel the combination of both your intellects is going to produce similar forms of creativity, concerned with putting spiritual understanding into the art forms of drama, films, and theater, such as you are already manifesting in your technologies. Do you understand all that?”

I laughed and said, “Yes. Do you?”

McPherson hesitated and then laughed too. “Not
exactly, as this information is coming from other sources.”

Vassy spoke up again. “May I ask you another personal question?”

“Please do,” said McPherson. “But understand that you have had many incarnations together. I have addressed myself to only one. In time you will recognize others yourself.”

“I would like to ask a medical question,” said Vassy.

“Please do.”

“Sheerlee has hypoglycemia. How can we treat it?”

“You mean to throw it into complete remission?”

“Yes, please,” said Vassy, probably remembering that it would be easier to cure my blood sugar than his theatrics.

“Very well,” said McPherson, “describe your current diet.”

I thought a moment and outlined that I ate mostly raw vegetables, fruit, grains, some protein but no red meat.

“Do you seek a high-protein diet?”

“High protein?”

“Yes.”

“Well, I like nuts and things like that.”

“Have you ever tried fasting?”

“That’s correct,” said Vassy. “She must fast.”

“But Tom, I can’t fast or I’ll faint.”

“It doesn’t matter,” said Vassy.

“All right,” said Tom, interrupting the argument. “We have a fast that you might find successful.”

“Really?”

“Quite right. We will see. One moment. Allow me to check with another entity who specializes in these things.”

A moment passed.

“Yes, I have help on the question now.”

Tom proceeded to give me a detailed rundown on an overall apple fast, followed by high protein (in
the form of tofu) and raw vegetables to bring about, as he said, “a complete remission of the toxins in your system.”

Vassy then asked about his own health. He described what he ate, but left out the desserts, particularly his love of chocolate sauce. Tom called him on it. Vassy looked sheepish. We both laughed as Tom gave him specific and detailed advice. Tom told him what minerals and vitamins were missing in his body, while Vassy made notes.

Both of us had questions about arthritis for which Tom recommended peanut-oil and olive-oil massage, plus more calcium and copper…. The health session went on for about an hour until Tom and Kevin was tiring.

“Are there any other questions? Because we must be careful not to tire the body of the young man.”

“Oh, yes. We’re sorry.”

“One more question,” said Vassy. “Please.”

“Very well.”

“You told us that Sheerlee and I did not meet by accident, that we had had a life experience during the time of ancient Greece.”

“That’s correct.”

“Well, what shall we do together now?”

“Both of you have talents in coordination of certain art forms. You could be sponsors of certain metaphysical and spiritual art forms.”

“We came into this life to emphasize the metaphysical aspects of art?” I asked.

“We would say so, yes.”

“Well, how can we do that if the response to those sorts of things is ridicule?”

“We disagree. There have been successful milestones already. Your 2001:
A Space Odyssey
, your
Star Wars
with ‘the Force.’ And there will be much more.”

“Well, were people relating to the metaphysical aspects of
Star Wars
or were they mostly drawn to it because it was an adventurous space opera?”

“Let’s put it this way, the artists got the attention
of the people and then the public was ready for more subtle messages. Yes, much of the public reacted to ‘the Force’ as an activity of God.”

“So you mean,” I asked, “that buried somewhere in the public mind is an appreciation of this stuff we’re talking about?”

“Most definitely. For instance, the art form of 2001:
A Space Odyssey
is a magnificent expression of metaphysical potency. The symbolism is incredible. Stanley Kubrick is a master metaphysician.”

“What has that to do with us?” asked Vassy.

“You are now ready to begin such projects,” said McPherson, and paused. “Will there be any more questions then?”

“No,” I said. “Thank you, Tom. Thank you again.”

“Very well. We’ll be going now. Saints be lookin’ after you. And God bless you.”

Tom left the body, and John came in again to pronounce the benediction.

Vassy and I held hands as Kevin regained consciousness.

“Hello?” said Kevin with a question, as though he were lost in time and space. “Hello. Are you there?”

“Yes, Kevin. We’re here,” I said.

He blinked and stretched. “How long have I been gone?” he asked.

“About one and a half hours,” I said.
