Ginger squeezed her shoulder and Lucy looked up into her eyes. They held one another’s gaze as Lucy smiled and Ginger took an instant liking to her. Diego lead the way as if he had been here before which Ginger had to remind herself that he has. Inside there was a huge throne room was a long table that could set a dozen or more comfortably. A main chair for the king but the room was empty.
Ginger asks, “Where is the king”.
Lucy responds, “In meetings so on his way when he is done”.
There were three doors including the one that they came through and Ginger could sense bodyguards at the entrance. A few minutes later two men entered the main chambers or throne room one had to be the king. She felt his mind, it was a demon so the youngest of the pair was the ruler. The other man was in his late 40’s.
His thoughts weren’t masked and it was as if he
anticipated Ginger reading it. The older man was a tatted muscular black man that was intimidating were the young man in his early 30’s ruler was a red hair, beard nerd if she had to describe him. He wasn’t skinny but trim like a swimmer and about 5’9.
Ginger says, “So who is Victor Lancaster”?
Victor raised his hand as Lucy laughs. The man is over 500 years old vampire, the first that she was meeting. It was no secret that Lucy could read minds as easily as she could but she didn’t hint anything to Caleb.
Caleb says, “Caleb Creed, king of the demons. Welcome”.
Ging
er smiled to him, “And who are Lucy and Victor”?
Diego responds, “They are his royal advisors and the ones he trusted with his life”.
Caleb answers, “Victor is an old friend of the family”.
They all sat at the long table to speak.
Caleb asks, “What happened to you and your family”?
Ginger responds, “They are dead. What else is there to say”?
Diego replies, “We can discuss this later”.
There was an uncomfortable silence as Ginger got up and walked out the room which seemed natural even if she wasn’t quite ready to tell yet. Diego was there so together she managed to go back to the room. Once dinner was over he came and joined her. Ginger told him everything and it felt like a weigh had been taken off her shoulder.
Ginger was still hungry from her abrupt exit and ordered a meal. Within twenty minutes a tray was brought up and it would take some time for them to ease into kingdom life. True Diego had visited but wasn’t accustomed to living like royalty. A few minutes after eating she needed to talk to Lucy.
During dinner Victor was keeping everyone’s spirits high. He somehow managed to keep the attention drawn on him which Ginger was thankful for. She needed time to sort through everything and appreciated his company. She wanted to avenge her parent’s murder and talk to Lucy about her abilities. Before leaving for her room she pasted Diego a look that let him communicate through a psychic telepathic bond. She wondered if Victor knew something before she took off to find Lucy so they could talk in private. She was in the dinning hall waiting for her when she walked in.
Ginger asks, “We need to talk”.
Lucy responded, “Good. Been waiting a while wondering when you were going to show”.
This was the point Ginger guess that Victor showed Diego to their rooms while Lucy spoke to Caleb about meetings he had the next morning.
Lucy said, “Amazing. When you concentrate you can easily read my mind. We need to develop that but yes I had business I needed to consult the king about”.
For some reason Lucy seemed more than an advisor, like a secretary to the king. Ginger could image a fight against her and it wouldn’t end pleasantly for her opponent.
Lucy laughs before said, “No it wouldn’t! I would wipe the floor with you”.
Ginger didn’t back down as she glared at her sizing her up.
Ginger responded, “You sure about that”?
Lucy answers, “We can test who is
the better warrior another time perhaps tomorrow in the gym”.
Ginger says, “Looking forward to that”.
Lucy responds, “So eager to be beaten. Let’s go for a walk”.
Ginger tells her, “Why?”
Lucy says, “Let me show you around the castle”.
She did indeed show her the entire castle. It has everything. From a pool to kitchen, spa to a small mall. There was a movie room, she felt like this is how the rich lived and loved it all.
Ginger says, “That was fun. Thanks”.
Lucy responds,“ Such in a rush to get to your boy toy. Must be hormones that were flaring during dinner I sensed.
Ginger answers, “Funny. Bye”.
Ginger starts to walk off before Lucy calls her.
Lucy says, “Just teasing you. I feel like you’re my kid sister. You’ll get use to it”.
Ginger responds, “And if I don’t. Will you cut it out”?
Lucy answers, “Probably not”.
Lucy laughs as she walks off.
Chapter 17:
Never had Ginger considered having sex before talking to her mom that had always been the plan as she walked back to her room. Things had changed so much in a short time that she felt so alone. She was surrounded by a kingdom full of people ones she didn’t know and at that moment she missed her bestfriends desperately.
Ginger thought, “What was Frost doing and how did Hannah always managed to pop up when she needed her most. These were questions she needed answers to along with who would want to kill her parents“?
The whole night Ginger tossed and turned unable to become comfortable in this unfamiliar place. The next morning Diego was at her side with a cup of tea and a bagel. She accepted them sitting them aside to do her morning yoga and Pilates routine. Diego sat to read.
Ginger asked, “Aren’t you bored”?
Diego respond, “Never bored in your presence“.
He smiled as she couldn’t stop from grinning and sipped her tea.
Once she was done with her tea
, she grabbed some yoga pants and a tank top to get dressed. Things never seemed black and white with him but one thing was for certain she always felt better in his company. After chewing the last bite of her bagel and gulping down the rest of her tea and she was ready to go.
He was waiting for her and she smiled.
Ginger asks, “What are you staring at”.
Diego responds, “A gorgeous, amazing woman that takes my heart into overdrive”.
Ginger laughs and says, “Is that all”?
Ginger leaned in and kisses him. He follows her out the room they shared to the dinning hall. Where to begin kept coming through her mind but one thing was certain, these people were her allies and she needed their help. If someone had easily killed her parents, would they know who? Somehow she didn’t feel comfortable contacting Aaron Darkholme. He was nice enough but there had to be a legitimate reason her parents hadn’t involved him in all these years.
After voicing her concerns Diego had to see her logic and suggest she talk to Lucy again seeing as she had Intel. From one indigo to another who know knows what kind of leads she had. That was the only plan they had come up with so she agreed and they reached downstairs. In the light of day Ginger took in the dining room and it was the size of a football field with three long tables all filled with food like a buffet.
She had the bagel and usually didn’t have a huge appetite but the smells were overpowering her. Within five minutes she had a small feast infront of her of grits, fruit, pancakes, eggs, toast, bacon and some were bread she never heard of. She sat and ate the delicious smelling food never feeling so energized in her life once finished. Diego had a small plate of meats but his smile was enough to reassure her he was filled and happy.
Lucy was easy to find in the center of a group of uniform men all laughing at a joke she told. She was sipping coffee, laughing and seemed engaged in a story being told. Ginger sat eating taking in the sight. Lucy was definitely the center of attention. Blond and bubbly is how Ginger saw her. Once she finished talking to all the men who were asking her out Lucy came and sat down with them.
Not a bad way to start one’s day but sadly she turned them all down. A shame if Ginger wasn’t here with Diego she might have made a few new friends or had a lineup of dates for the next month. The men here was as handsome as the ones back home. Lucy smiled once again; Ginger forgot to put up her mental barriers. This was embarrassing well now she had first-hand experience what it was like for another to evade one’s privacy. Her powers didn’t always worked the way she wanted them to.
Lucy says, “It takes some getting use to”.
Ginger responds, “What if I don’t want to have my private thoughts invaded”?
Lucy smiles and asks, “Well you can learn to block them”.
Ginger answers, “Guess I know what I am doing today. Up for it”?
Lucy responds, “You betcha”.
Lucy excused herself gesturing for Ginger to join her. Ginger kissed Diego goodbye before the two walked out the large room to a private office that had pictures of Lucy on all the walls. This was her office; it was decorated in purple and gold and suited her personality. The door had been unlocked by a key from keys hanging from Lucy’s belt. She had a few keys, the bright and welcoming sofa allowed Ginger to sit across from here. Once face to face the obvious thing to do was to ask her questions but that seemed foolish in the presence in one wiser than herself.
Ginger asks, “What do you know”?
Lucy answers, “A lot. You have to be more specific kiddo”.
Ginger sighs. Lucy placed her hand palm up out to Ginger and once their hands connected Ginger fell into a deep meditation as the room faded to black.
Ginger says, “So this is what”?
Lucy responds, “Where I come to get my answers”.
Ginger felt surrounded by energy, thoughts and mental thought -waves. She couldn’t see anything but was empowered as if she could do anything and everything. This feeling of invincibility was intoxicating but somehow it was only an illusion.
Lucy smiled, “This is what joy is”.
She felt a joy deep within herself and could sense movement as if her mind was reading events past this place into the void of utopia. Pure freedom and bliss.
Chapter 18:
Meditating had never felt like this before but somehow they had reached a more spiritual or deeper level if at all possible. There was small brain activity far away possibly from others like themselves.
Ginger asks, “What is that”?
Lucy answers, “The others like us”.
She had never felt attached or connected to others like herself before Lucy.
Ginger asks, “How many like herself where out there”?
Lucy answers, “A dozen or so exist that I know of. That number was greater but a dark force is trying to eliminate goodness. Some of our kindred indigos have been turned, manipulated, lied to, used, forced and coercion to bring them into the darkness“.
One had already attacked her and many more were willing to if someone doesn’t stand up against these forces of evil they would become extinct. That sound like part of the prophecy but it was more than that. Her parents had believed in her and would try to help so she felt compelled to as well. She needed to help and knowing Lucy was the first step. She had a long way to go before she was ready.
Lucy tells her, “It is time to leave”.
Ginger didn’t want to lose this feeling but knew it was time to disconnect.
Ginger says, “I wanna come back”.
She had been seeking answers to questions and now had a direction to go toward. The separation wasn’t difficult; somehow in Lucy’s presence she felt a greater sense of purpose and meaning. Lucy answered the first question she had what was that place and how can she get there again?
