“Do you always get into so much trouble?”

“No, usually I get others into trouble.”  She grinned impishly.

“Good,
be
cause I don’t think my heart could take it if that kind of thing happened often.”  He laid her on the bed and leaned over her caging
Cindy
in his arms.

“You gonna have a heart attack tough guy?  Cause I know a really good…” he shut her up with a kiss, his lips searing into hers, claiming her.

“Marry me.”

“Why?”  Marriage meant commitment, love. 

“Because I love you.  Marry me Cindy.  What are you afraid of?” 

She knew t
he fear was in her eyes, but she’d be damned if she’d
admit to
it.
“Nothing.”

“Yes you are.  You’re safe with me, and you can kick some serious ass yourself, so what is it?  Is it the commitment?” 

She was shaking her head from side to side.
“I haven’t really let myself love anyone since my dad was killed.  I’m afraid that if I do, I’ll lose you too.”

ed her again tenderly this time, h
is lips telling a story all their own.

“I’ll never do that to you Cindy.  We’ll
work as a team.
I’ve got your back if you’ve got mine.”  His smile was danger
ous, and she sucked in a breath. “W
hat do you say?  Willing to give it a try?  Mar
ry me.”  Searching his deep
chocolate brown
eyes
, the same color as her favorite candy bar,
she found the sincerity deep within their depths.
How could she resist?

“’kay.” 

“Stay right there.” He grinned, rushed out into the hall and back.

“There is only one thing that could make this moment more perfect.” 

She smiled at him and couldn’t imagine what. 

He slowly pulled his hand out from behind his back and revealed a bouquet of Snicker bars.  She laughed and threw her arms around his neck.

“You really are the perfect man.  I love you Jack Wilde.”

“I know.”  Jack’s grin grew as Cindy set aside her Snicker’s bar.  Placing both her hands on either side of his face, she leaned into him and
molded
her lips
to
his. She melted into him, with the knowledge that no matter what happened, he would always be in her heart.

son in the Northwest.
 
Working full-time at
 
a day job, she plays hard and spends her free-time studying the Middle Ages in a re-creationist organization and creating books.
 
She juggles her life between work, being a Mom, training for heavy armored combat, learning about music in the
 
16th Century,
 
playing her violin, and writing.

Serena began her writing journey at an early age with short stories and poetry inspired by her mother
 
Darlene, a strong independent woman who loves to help others, and who writes her own stories and articles.
 

As Serena traveled the world, touring seventeen countries in three years, she picked up invaluable life experience. Coming home in 2001 she knew her newest passion — to become a writer.  In 2009, Serena became a member of Romance Writer’s of America, and has been working on her craft with the wonderful members of the Olympia Chapter.
 
 
In 2010, she participated in Nanowrimo completing a 50,000+ word manuscript in one month, and in 2011 Serena won the Lucy Monroe award in  the Romance Writer’s of America Olympia Chapter for her achievements as a writer.

Though she does love the Middle Ages, and has written a few short stories in the genre, she fell in love with the idea of writing a contemporary action/adventure romance while she was attending college to study Criminal Justice.

After months of working on homework assignments late at night that made her want to turn on every light in the house, Serena decided it would be a great idea to take some of the ideas running through her head and commit them to paper.
