my life openly with you, to speak the truth to you in love. I promise to honor and tenderly care for you, to cherish and encourage your fulfillment as an individual through all the changes of our lives."
Minister: "Now, may I have a token of your sincerity that you will keep these vows?"
(The best man gives the bride's ring to the minister who then holds it up and says:)
"From the beginning of time, the ring has symbolized many kinds of human relationships. Kings wore them to express their imperial authority; friends exchanged them as expressions of their good will; high school and college graduates wore them as expressions of their school loyalties. This simple band of gold, however, has come to its highest significance as a symbol of a marriage relationship. Wearing it bears witness to your marital fidelity."
(The minister hands the bride's ring to the groom and instructs him to place it on her finger.)
