Chapter 29

While
I was writing Darius a love letter, the guard came into my cell and said, “Moore, you have a visitor.”

When I walked to the glass window,
I was a little stunned to see Carl sitting there. I wanted to walk away but a part of me wanted to hear what he had to say, so I sat down. I picked the phone up with caution and stared at him. I wanted him to see it in my eyes how much I hated him. He smiled at me as if we were at a damn party or something. He didn’t even look disturbed at all.

“What are you doing here?” I asked with an attitude.

I wanted to reach through the glass and slap that smirk right off of his fucking face.

“Tiff, I just came down here to see how you’re doing although you tried to run my man over. You know he’s very upset with you about that.”

He sounded like a woman. The shit was crazy.

“You son of a bitch,
you will pay for what you’ve done.”

He laugh
ed and then said, “Tiff, what are you going to do about it you are in jail for murder. You’ll either get the death penalty or life without parole, thanks to me.”

I squint
my eyes and said, “What?”

His eyes turned cold and he said
, “Well since you or that bitch Melanie couldn’t keep your hands off of my men, I had to take matters into my own hands. Yea that’s right.”

I stared at him with my mouth open.

“Tiff don’t look at me like that. You’re the reason she’s dead. If you wouldn’t have told me that she was calling my man, then I wouldn’t be forced to kill her.”

He went on to tell me that he gave Michael the gun to give to me and how my prints ended up on the knife. It then hit me that my prints got on the knife that he gave me to cut my food when I was at his house during the time that I stayed over there when Michael and I
got into it. What Carl told me sent chills down my spine. My heart must’ve stopped because I couldn’t catch my breath. Carl just sat there with this big grin on his face as if he just told me some good news. I never knew evil until I looked into his eyes. It was like I was looking at satin himself. This man strategically set me up. He had been making my life a living hell for months now, when all he could’ve done was waited for Michael to leave me but I guess that was too long for him. Before I knew it I was standing on top of the chair and I was beating on the glass with the phone.

“You son of a bitch,
” I yelled. “You did this to me! I’m going to kill you!”

I started banging on the glass. I was trying so hard to break it so that I could get my hands
on him. I wanted to dig my nails into his eyeballs and pull them out. I was jumping up and down like a wild monkey. Carl laughed hysterically as if I was putting on some kind of show. The guards finally came and pulled me down from the chair.

“He’s the reason I’m in here! He killed Melanie Scott! He set me up!”

The guards ignored me and drug me back to my cell. It was crazy how my life unfolded in a fucked up way. The people that I thought I knew, I really didn’t know and the ones that I thought I could trust turned their backs on me. I went from being a successful lawyer with the perfect husband to being convicted of murder. It was amazing how fucked up people could really be. Well I knew that but I never thought that there would be so much shady shit going on in my circle. You only hear about this type of shit in movies or books, not real life. It was cool though because I knew that this shit wasn’t going to break me because I was going to beat my case and as soon as I was free, all hell was going to break loose and somebody was going to pay!
