“You have to trust your partnerships, Mr. Fellows,” I cautioned, keeping an eye on the grand staircase.

“You know more about business than me. I’ll take your word for it,” he chuckled.

“Did you attend the last NATO meeting, Mr. Kirkham?” another gentlemen asked. I couldn’t quite recall his name. Luckily, the vision that was Jade appeared and I excused myself to greet her at the bottom of the staircase. “Oh, I bought it with Claire when she visited a few weeks ago.” I loved that she got along so well with my aunt. It made me wonder if Jade ever thought about her own family. Well, her father anyway. She was free now, and I couldn’t help but wonder if she was ever going to seek him out. It was a decision only she could make, though. I would never bring it up. The past was still a difficult subject for her. Seeing her father again would bring everything back, and I didn’t want to witness the pain in her eyes when she thought about her sister, Mina.
