“Ok, I’m pulling up the
road a bit and pulling over,” I said as I took my foot off the
brake.

I pulled the car up about
20 feet and onto a turn around that lined the drop off. It wasn’t
much room but it was better than being in the cross hairs of other
cars.

I unbuckled my seat belt
and started opening the door.

Stop. What are you doing,
you have no idea who is in that car.

“I have to find out if
they’re ok, what if they weren’t trying to run us off the road and
it was all just an accident, we can’t just leave them here,” I said
as I knifed out of my car.

“Ok, we weren’t going to
object, but take Saska with you and don’t get too close until you
know what’s up,” Sully said as I called for Saska to come with
me.

As Saska jumped out of the
car, I wanted to stop him and find out what was going on with us
and how he knew about Logan and I swimming at the Lake, but other
things seemed a little more important.

Please keep your distance
from this car you need to listen to yourself and put your guard up
just in case.

“I will be careful, but I
have to make sure that no one's hurt, I couldn’t live with myself
if we left and someone needed help,” I said as I looked down at
Saska.

The car or should I say
SUV looked like a Chevy Tahoe but it was hard to tell in the dark.
I was trying to see the people in the SUV but the windows are
tinted. I was about three feet from the dark colored SUV and I
yelled out.

“Is everyone ok. Hello,
can anyone hear me,” I said as I was hesitant to go any
farther.

Just as I was about to the
passenger I felt my skin start to warm up, this seem to be
happening a lot lately. The truck started to back up and then it
floored it and hit both Saska and I. We both feel to the ground,
but before I could get up the truck drove away in the opposite
direction from where we were going.

Are you ok
Jayden?

“I’m ok, but that felt
really strange. I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to be
hit by a car and that is not what I imagined,” I said as I started
to get up.

Are you hurt

“No, and that’s the weird
part, I feel fine,” I said as I checked out myself to make sure I
wasn’t just in shock.

You must have put up a
force field around both of us

Laughing “I didn’t know
that you had such a sense of humor,” I said while I
laughed.

Jayden, things are going
to start happening to you that don’t seem explainable

“Yeah, like a talking dog”
I said as I started to walk back to the car.

Yes, like talking dogs,
but more than that you need to conserve your energy we have no idea
what lies ahead and until you’ve discovered all of your abilities
you're in danger

“I can’t believe that just
happened, and I just got it today,” I said as I started to round
the car to look at the damage from the accident.

Jayden listen to me, there
won’t be any damage…

I stood where there should
be damage to my car and there was none. How was this possible?
“Where’s the damage on the car, they hit me hard and I hit them. I
saw their vehicle, it had damage on it. I don’t understand,” I
said.

I told you that you have
the ability to put a force field around yourself and that’s what
you did when that truck attacked us. We need to get going, I don’t
want those people to come back, you won’t be able to stand another
attack so soon.

“Ok, what do I tell Sully
and Blake, they were in the car when it got hit,” I said looking at
a dog I was talking to. I have official lost my mind.

Try to say the least
amount possible, I don’t trust Blake and you can’t tell Sully when
he’s around.

“That reminds me, how did
you know about the Lake. I’m about to say something that sounds
absolutely absurd. Are you Logan?” I said as I squatted down to get
right in the dogs face.

Jayden, let’s talk about
this later, you're going to be getting tired soon and I don’t want
to bring more stress right now. I promise that we will talk about
this later, please let’s get going.

“Ok, but don’t forget you
owe me some answers,” I said as I opened the driver’s door and let
Saska in.

I sat in the driver’s seat
for a second before I started the car.

“Jayden, are you sure
you’re ok, we saw that truck back up and hit you too?” Sully asked
with concern.

“I don’t think the car
actually hit us, I think that the reaction made me fall down,” I
said as I put the car in drive and started back on our
voyage.

“Did you get a look at who
was in the car?” Blake asked as he sat back in his seat.

“No, the windows were
blacked out,” I said.

“So who do you think they
were, and what did they want?” Blake asked.

The car was moving but I
started to see black, why was all of this happening and why to me.
What did my mother mean in her letter….I couldn’t see the road
anymore. I feel so tired, I just want to sleep a little
bit.

“Jayden, Jayden are you
awake, stop the car.” I heard Blake say and felt a hand on my
shoulder.

Jayden, listen to my
voice, I need you to put your foot on the brake. I know you just
want to sleep but you need to stop the car.

Chapter 6

Grandmother

I opened my eyes but
couldn’t focus on anything. I smelled a musty odor and a I could
tell a light was on.

“Just take it easy, you
passed out on us and have been sleeping for awhile. How are you
feeling?” Sully asked me.

“I feel like someone hit
me in the head, what happened. I remember the accident and then
starting to drive again, but that’s all I remember,” I said as I
rubbed my eyes to try and get my focus again.

“Don’t sit up, you might
have a concussion from the accident. That car hit you. I think it
just took a minute for it to sink in.”

“Where are we?” I
asked.

“We are in Long Beach, we
arrived a few hours ago, we picked the closest motel we could find.
And by the way, carrying you is no easy chore,” Blake said as he
sat on the bed next to me.

“You carried me in, are
you crazy, you could have hurt yourself,” I said.

“Oh please, you only way,
what… a buck 30. That’s nothing,” Blake said as he brushed the hair
out of my face.

(Growling)

“That dog is very
protective of you, he watched every move I made with you and didn’t
leave your side,” Blake said.

I reached out with my right
hand and felt his soft fur. I started to feel warm again all
over.

Jayden, don’t pull on your
energy so much, only use it when your need to. Let your body wake
up on its own.

“It just feels so good,” I
said.

“Wow I didn’t know you felt
that way about him” Sully said.

“What…no I was talking to
someone else,” I said.

“Who were you talking to?”
Blake asked.

“I must still be a little
sleepy,” I said trying to wipe the sleep from my brain.

“I went and got you water,
do you need anything else?” Sully asked me as she hands me the
bottle of water. Not going to let me refuse, I took the bottle and
started to sip it.

“No thanks, I’ll be ok I
am still really tired,” I said.

“So I see two beds, are we
all sleeping in one room?” I asked.

“I got two rooms, I
thought you girls would like some time alone,” Blake said as he
stood up.

“Thanks Blake I really
appreciate it, did you two unload the car?” I asked.

“Yep, all done chicken
little, you just rest up so you’re fresh for tomorrows adventure,”
Sully said as she sat down on the other bed.

“Ok, well ladies if
there’s anything else you need, my room is right next door,” Blake
said as he left our room.

“Jayden, are you really
ok, it was like you were talking to someone else?” Sully asked me
as she popped up on the bed almost to see how bouncy it
was.

“I’m ok, I just feel
really weak, he told me that might happen but I didn’t believe him.
I guess I haven’t wanted to believe in anything that has been
happening, but I think it’s time I start to listen to him,” I said
as I rubbed the bottle of water on my forehead.

“Now I know you hit your
head hard, who are you talking about?” Sully asked me.

“I told you, the dog!” I
exclaimed.

“Is this what you were
trying to tell me at the restaurant?” Sully asked.

“Yes, the dog talks to me,
he told me that it would drain me to use my “new abilities” as he
calls them,” I said as I sat the edge of the bed so I could face
her.

“Abilities, ok now were
talking the twilight zone, maybe we need to call Stan Lee,” Sully
said while laughing.

“I’m being very serious
Sully, that car hit Saska and I, and there is no damage to my car,
how do you explain that?” I asked.

“Well old cars are a lot
tougher than newer ones and I think that car did hit you, hello,”
Sully said.

Jayden, if she doesn’t
believe you, quit trying to make her, she’ll figure it out in her
own time. You need your sleep, tomorrow is an unknown day and you
need to be prepared.

“Prepared for what?” I
asked him.

“What, who are you talking
to, oh wait….I forgot your talking to the dog,” Sully said as she
sat back on the bed and put her feet up, grabbed the remote and
turned on the TV.

I don’t know, but I do
know that I can feel bad things are coming, just get some sleep and
tell Sully that she shouldn’t snoop through Blake’s
things.

“Sully I need to get some
sleep, oh yeah, Saska says it’s not polite to snoop through Blake’s
things,” I said as I went to my bad and grabbed a pair of sweats
and a t-shirt to sleep in.

“I….well he was taking
care of you and he tried to be bossy and tell me to get the bags so
I thought I would just check out his stuff, make sure he’s not
hiding anything,” Sully said as she folded her arms like a little
girl.

“Right, I thought you’re
the one that told me to trust him,” I asked as I changed my clothes
and got into bed.

“Well I was just curious,
hey wait a minute, how did you know that I went through his stuff?”
Sully asked me as she sat forward so she could see my
face.

“Why don’t you ask
Saska….I’m tired now, goodnight Sully,” I said as I turned off the
light on the end table between our beds.

********

I was on a beach. It's
such a beautiful beach, I recognize this beach, like I’ve been here
before. The ocean lay in front of me, it waves crashing in with
dirty foam. The smell of the ocean burns my nose, but where am I. I
can feel the sand wet and cold between my toes. I turn around and
there’s a house on top of one of the sand dunes. It’s a beautiful
home, with three stories that look like they go the distance of the
beach. he house has a look of age, the siding is faded to a gray
color but the front doors are a beautiful cherry red like someone
just put a fresh coat of paint on them. I want to go up to the
house, but I can’t move, why can’t I move? I hear a voice calling
my name so I turned to the left and I see a woman walking towards
me. I can’t see that far but she looks like a goddess, she’s
dressed in a white gown that seems to be a part of her. The color
of her hair is almost the color of mine, but she’s too far to see.
Is that my Mom?

“Mom, I see you.” I say
aloud.

I try to move towards her
but I’m sinking in the sand.

“Jayden, wake up, your
having a bad dream, wake up!” Sully shakes me awake.

“Mom, I’m coming, wait for
me, I can’t move, Mom, Mom,” I yelled.

“Jayden, wake up right
now,” Sully said while still shaking me.

I flew into the sitting
position, breathing heavily.

“Sully, I had the worst
dream, it started out really nice and then…I saw my Mom,” I
breathed.

“You were screaming for
your Mom, I thought you were crying,” Sully said as she hugged
me.

“I’m ok, I have never had
a dream about my Mom before, at least not that I remember,” I said
as I tried to get my bearings.

“Were you at the beach?”
Sully asked me.

“Yes I was, in front of
this beautiful house on the sand dunes. How did you know that?” I
asked her.

“I had a dream about a
house with red doors, I didn’t see anybody but me, but I thought it
was a strange dream,” Sully said as she sat up and got me some
water.

“How is that possible that
we had the same dream?” I asked her.

“I have no clue, but I’m
not getting the best feeling being here that’s for sure,” Sully
said as she handed me the water.

“Well just take it easy
today and try not to find any more mysterious things, I’m not sure
if I can handle it,” I said as I set the water on the end
table.
