Drifter caught the noise and looked over at her. “Aw fuck,” he said.

“What?” Pres. asked.

Drifter nodded towards Jewel. “She can't be here. I don't want her seeing any of this shit.”

“Dean!” Pres. yelled, over the noise of the bikes. “Take Jewl back with you.”

Dean nodded, waving Jewl over, and handed her the extra helmet. She looked over at Drifter and blew him a kiss, as she climbed on behind Dean, and put her hands on his hips. Drifter reacted immediately, and was to them in seconds.

“You take good care of my girl,” he said to Dean, and then gave her a kiss that invaded her entirely. “Be back as soon as I can, Hun,” he said, giving her a smack on the thigh.

As they took off, he had to reel in his jealousy that sprouted up, seeing his bitch on the back of another man's bike. His brother that he trusted, whole heartedly, but the jealousy was still there, loud and clear. He had no idea what to do with these feelings, since it had never been like this for him, ever.

He walked over to Sam, letting out some of his pent up anger, kicking him hard, in the side. “Wake up, fuck face. It's time to face the music.”

Sam groaned and curled into a ball, for the second time in just a few hours.

Nate started circling. “What we gonna do to him?” He looked back and forth at Pres. and Drifter, wringing his hands. He came by his nickname rightly.

“Well, let's see. What do you do to a douche bag, piece of shit, that tries to rape my daughter and your bitch?” He looks at Drifter.

“You leave him alone with Crazy Nate for a while,” Drifter said. “We need to dig a hole. You got any shovels in this shed of yours, Sammy boy?”

“Please don't kill me. This won't happen again,” Sam begged, trying to sit up, grabbing his shoulder and wincing.

“Oh, believe me, when I tell you that when Nate here gets done with you, you are gonna wish somebody would kill you,” Scooter told him, as he pushed him back down on the ground. “Stay the fuck down and take what's comin' to you, you piece of fucking shit.”

He looked at Nate. “Have at em.” The two men walked off, with shovels in hand.

As they entered the forest to dig a few shallow graves for the pieces that Nate would be producing, they heard Sam scream, as Crazy Nate started in on him. “So, you like raping, huh? How does this feel?” They knew the handle of the rake that Nate had grabbed when they got the shovels, was being used to give Sam a taste of being raped. After a while, the screams stopped and they knew that either Sam had passed out, or had been, finally, put out of his misery.

Chapter 9

The whole time the guys were gone, Nikki was thinking hard about all of the drama that had been brought into her life, and his, since they met. She couldn't help but think that Meagan getting kidnapped was her fault. Sam would have never done this if she was still with him. And then, there were the girls. What they had been through, what Sam, their own father, had done to them. Their lives would never be the same.

Maybe it was time to step back from all of this, and take some time to sort things out. Sam would surely go back to jail, so she would be safe. Hopefully, George and Judy would stay away.

But would Scooter let her? Last time she got scared and backed off, he had reclaimed her after a few days. She would have to find another job. Maybe move, if she wanted to have some space. She was deep in thought, looking in the direction of the kids all sitting at a table, doing their best to play poker with the prospects, when the door opened.

In came John, followed by Meagan, Jewl, and Dean. The door closed behind them. No Scooter, and no Drifter. The other crazy one, was missing too.

Meagan ran over to Nikki, and gave her a hug. “I'm so glad that you are ok. I thought my dad was going to trade us and I didn't want you to go back to that asshole.”

Nikki put her finger to her lips, as she pointed over to the girls and Jim, playing cards. “I really don't want to bad mouth him in front of them, if I can help it,” she whispered.

Whispering back, “I can respect that, but Nikki, he tried to rape me.”

“Oh shit, I am so sorry. This is all my fault. I suppose your dad and Drifter are gonna mess him up good before they turn him in to the police, huh?” Nikki said, as she reconfirmed how fucked up this  was, and all because of her, and her involvement with Scooter.

Whispering again, Meagan replied, “Sam will never be seen again, Nikki. I almost guarantee that they are going to kill him. They sent Jewl and I back because they didn't want us seeing what they were going to do to him.” She turned around and started towards the hallway. “I have to take a shower, and get out of these clothes.

Nikki's heart felt like it stopped.

John walked over to her. “You need anything darlin'? Scooter said we needed to take care of you. I can go grab you some food, or whatever.”

“They are gonna kill him?” she asked, looking up at him, in total disbelief. She felt the room spinning as an anxiety attack set in. She stood up off the stool she was perched on, and grabbed the top of it to steady herself. “I want to go home. Please take the girls and I home,” she requested, as she tried to take a few steps and fell.

John was right there to catch her. “Easy there, darlin'. I can't take you home. Strict orders to keep you here, safe.”

She looked up at him as he helped her into a chair. “Are they gonna kill him?”

“I'm sure the deed has been done,” he said, not sure if that was the right thing to say to her, considering her look of shock, and not being able to stand up on her own.

Pulling her phone out of her purse that was slung over her shoulder, she dialed his number, and waited.

He picked up. “Hey, Sunshine, everything ok? Are my guys taking care of you?”

She just sat there, not sure what to say for a moment.

“Hello? Babe, are you there?” he said, bringing her back to the call.

“Did you kill him? Is he dead?” she asked, still trying to get the room to stop spinning.

The line went dead.

“Fuck!” Scooter said, as he put his phone back in his pocket, knowing that she must be freaking out. He hadn't taken that into account in all the drama of Meg getting nabbed, and trying to keep Nikki and the girls safe. Nikki was not used to any of this. Would she ever be?  She questioned him before about killing, and he assured her that was just in the show, and now this. Talk about mixed messages.

Scooter shook his head and pulled his burner phone out, dialing John’s prepaid line.

All the brothers had a personal phone, and a prepaid, that was a burner phone. The burner was constantly replaced when things went down in the club that didn't need to be traced.

John picked up, “Yeah?”

Scooter asked him how it was going. John told him about how Nikki was freaking out, and had almost fainted, and she wanted to take the girls and go home. That he had overheard a short conversation between Nikki and Meg, and Nikki had assumed you were going to turn Sam in. Scooter told him to take her home, but to stay there with her, until he got there.

John put his phone away, and told Nikki he would take her home, but that Scooter wanted him to stay there with her, until he got back. She packed up what little she had there, and told the girls it was time to go home.

Nelly piped up, “Is it safe Mom? I am afraid Dad is gonna come back.”

John noticed that Nikki was speechless. “Hey kiddo, I'm gonna hang out with you until Scooter gets there, to keep you safe.”

“Oh, ok,” she said, going back to the table to retrieve her backpack, and say goodbye to Jimmy.

Nikki smiled at John. “Thank you.” She took a few steps towards the door, and turned around.

“Jim should come with us,” she said to John. She knew he would keep the girls occupied while she figured out what the hell she was going to do, what she was going to say to Scooter. She walked out the door, to the club van, that would be her ride home. They all piled in, and headed to her house.

Scooter left Drifter and Nate to finish up the job, and headed back to Vancouver. He thought the time on the road would help him think of how to handle Nikki, but he came up with nothing. He had just been a part of killing her husband. Sam deserved it, but that was Jen and Nelly's dad. That was going to need to be handled very carefully. He was going to have to find a way to get Nikki to stay quiet about it, without getting forceful, because if he had to force her, that would ruin it all.

He pulled into her driveway. Before he could get a leg over his bike, John was out the door to talk to him.

“She is not doing well Pres., she’s really freaked out,” John said, as he poked his head in the door, and told Jim it was time to go.

“Yeah, this is gonna prove to be interesting.” He took off his helmet, and hung it on the handlebars. “I'll keep you posted on how this goes down. After you get Jim home, go get Meagan and bring her over here. I need her to be here too.”

John and Jim left in the van. The tension in the house was thick.

“Thanks for keeping us safe, Scooter,” Jen said. “We were scared that Dad was gonna come after us again. Is he back in jail now?”

“We couldn't find him. We just found Meagan, and brought her back,” he told her. “Can you and your sister go hang out in the bedroom, so your mom and I can discuss all the grown up stuff? I will stick around until they find your dad, and keep you safe.”

She nodded. “Thank you, Scooter.” She and Nelly headed for the bedroom, giggling about Jim, and Nelly's crush on him.

Scooter smiled at them, being so carefree in the midst of all this. They really didn't have a clue. He turned his attention to Nikki, realizing he hadn't even made eye contact with her since he had walked in the door. His smile faded quickly as he saw the utter shock in her face.

“What have you done?” she asked, tearing up.

He stepped towards her and she turned away from him. He realized right away that this wasn't just going to be a quick chat. This was his lifestyle, not hers. Taking care of people that threatened his family didn't happen all the time, but his daughter wasn't kidnapped all the time. She had to get that, didn't she?

He pulled out his phone, and sent a text to Meagan.

Meagan: I am sending John to get you and bring you to Nikki's. DON”T tell the girls what happened to their father. We are not going to tell them the truth. You and I are going to talk this shit out about Joe. Until we do you stay the fuck away from that little asshole. You get me. Love Dad.

Meagan felt her phone buzz, and read the text out loud to Joe.

“I told you we need to stay away from each other until I get this straight with your dad. Damn it Meg, you're gonna get me fucking killed.”

“Oh chill. Drifter is busy yelling at Jewl and the rest of the guys are drinking. They don't even miss you,” she told him, as she laid on her dad's bed, in his room with Joe sitting next to her, nervously.

“John is coming to get me to take me to Nik's, so I suppose you better sneak outta here.” She grabbed his cut, and pulled him down on top of her, kissing his neck. “Unless you want to fuck me first, in case it's gonna be a while.”
