Next row: *With yarn in front, slip 1 stitch purlwise, move yarn to back, K1; repeat from * across row.

Repeat steps 6 and 7 once more (a total of 4 rows worked).

Begin working K1, P1 ribbing. After a few rows, pull waste yarn out of the beginning row. You may have to snip it every couple of stitches and pick it out of the edge.

This tubular cast on begins with
a Chained Cast On (
page 39
) in half the number of stitches needed. The remaining stitches are then added with yarnovers, followed by tubular knitting and then ribbing. It is an excellent choice for working in the round and for K2, P2 as well as K1, P1 ribbing. Because of the yarnovers, using a needle two sizes smaller than the ribbing can keep the edge from flaring out. Swatch to see how it works for you.

Using waste yarn and needles in a size appropriate for ribbing, cast on half the number of stitches using a Chained Cast On (

). Cut yarn. With main color yarn and needles two sizes smaller than ribbing needle, work as follows.
