“As I said,” he growled and stepped in front of me as he knelt down. Staring into my eyes, he grasped my chin between his thumb and forefinger, pulling my face down so my eyes would meet his gaze as he finished his sentence, “
Don’t
— touch — me!”

I
released a breath of deep-seated arousal as I adjusted myself on my knees and placed my lips on the tip of his plump head. Kissing it tenderly, I licked across the front of it, and then pressed my tongue underneath. I drew his head into my mouth and massaged it with my tongue before going down on him. I took as much of him into my mouth as I could and he let out a slight moan.

G
laring up at him, I moved up and down, feeling him in my mouth. I encircled him with my tongue, wrapping it around one side of him and pulling my mouth up on him. I scraped my teeth gently across the tip of his head, then swallowed him back into my throat.

“Shit,” Gavin gasped as he grabbed the top of my head and balled my hair up in his fists. His body drew in slightly. “Fuck,” he groaned as I pulled completely away from him and rested on my heels.

I leaned against the boat and the rope cut into my wrists. I spread my legs open and stared at him, my eyes widening as I watched his chest heave. He climbed on top of me, pushing his dick down and grazing it across my wet opening; he stuck the tip in and then pulled back. “You can’t handle me,” he growled.

I thrust my hips down toward him and he slipped deep within me. One corner of my mouth drew up, forming a devious smile as I said, “Oh, but I think I can,
Dr. Hunter
.”

Gavin’s
tongue skimmed across his top teeth as he pulled back quickly, holding himself at my entrance. He thrust into me hard. The boat rocked from the force of his movement and I let out a loud cry as he pushed deep into me. My breath caught when he pulled out quickly and forcefully pushed himself back into me.

Gavin laid his head next to my face and whispered, “No one can hear you scream out here, you know that, right?”

My breath hitched and the rope cut deeper into my wrists. The rough texture burned against the small of my back as he pushed himself harder on top of me. I shifted my hips and Gavin pulled away.

“Stand up,” he demanded between deep breathes.

Before I had a chance to try and pull my feet underneath me, Gavin had placed his hands under me and pulled me up. He pressed my bare body against his warm, muscular frame and held me tightly. He leaned down and pressed his lips hard against mine, unforgivingly as his tongue lashed into me. His hands grabbed onto my flesh, pulling it into his palms and releasing it, growling with each thrust.

He reached down to my wrists and suddenly freed me.
“I need to feel you,” he said, slamming his mouth over mine again with uninhibited passion. His thick tongue tangled with mine and he pushed me back against the seat of the boat.

My stomach caught as the boat rode over another large swell. I glanced back in the direction of shore and could barely see
the glow of the lights as we drifted farther out in the large ocean.

Gavin climbed on top of me and the boat rocked violently
under his hard movements. Opening my eyes momentarily I saw the glint of the constellations against the black night sky. I closed them again and gave into the feeling of him fucking me madly with an amount of passion and desire I’d never felt before in my life. The entire world could have been damned at that very moment and I wouldn’t have cared. Gavin was all I needed. He was my breath.

I felt the cold aluminum of the boat under my back as he fucked me up onto the bow. His movements were hard, deliberate, and brutal.
The support of the boat disappeared from under my head as Gavin pushed me further up the bow. Desperately, I grabbed onto his shoulders and dug my nails deep into his flawless flesh.

“I’ve got you,” he panted into my ear before I felt my head move off of the boat.

My hair fell, weightless, into the water as my head was pushed further off the boat. Cold water splashed up onto my shoulders and my body clamped down tightly around him. The warmth quickly spread across my body in waves, and my breath became deep and heavy. I let out one long, helpless gasp as my nails embedded themselves into his back. I pushed them down harder as my back involuntarily arched from the feeling of searing heat that shot across my body.

Gavin growled a
nd pushed into me, forcing my tightening muscles to grant him access. He moaned loudly. I screamed out and he continued to move against my rhythmically contracting muscles; my nails sunk further into him as I came again. I’d never had such an intense orgasm in my life. It was like I’d been drugged.

I felt a wet seeping around my nails as he slowed his movements and
lay down on top of me.

Opening
my eyes, I saw the reflection of the moon dissipating across the water. I pulled my head up and the cold water trickled down my bare back as I drew my hair up from the ocean. Gavin had nearly fucked me off the bow of the boat.

Gavin
stood up, bending down to pick up his clothes. I saw something dark smeared across his back. I glanced down at my hands and saw blood underneath my nails.

“Oh, my God,” I gasped. “I drew blood!”

Gavin reached over his shoulder and wiped across his skin. He held his hand up in the moonlight, rubbing his fingers together.

“So you did.” As he turned and glared at me, a mischievous grin slowly fell across his lips. “Don’t worry. I enjoy a little pain.”

I looked at my hands; the blood that had collected beneath my nails startled me. I was shocked that I’d sunk my nails into him so hard and deep that I had broken his skin.

“You like it rough, don’t you?” Gavin asked as he pulled his jeans up to his waist and zipped them.

“I like it with you,” I said, dragging my shirt over my head. A sharp sting shot up my arm as the sleeves brushed against the tender marks the rope had left on my wrists.

“I see,” Gavin mumbled a
nd looked down to button his shirt.

He sat back down in the seat and stared at me, his face lacked expression, lacked emotion – it was completely blank and unreadable. I pulled my jeans up, wiggling my hips to make the material pull over them. I glanced back up and
found Gavin still staring at me, his eyes seemed slightly glazed over as though he were staring through me.

“What?” I asked him.

He blinked his eyes as if to snap himself back into the moment. “Hmmm?” He glanced at me. “Nothing, just thinking.”

W
alking over to him, I sat down, curling my legs up underneath me. I placed my hand on top of his and rubbed across his knuckles with my thumb.

Gavin grabbed my arm with his left hand and pulled my gray sleeve back from my wrist. He brought my hand to his face, raising it to inspect the burn left by the rope he’d bound me with. His thumb tenderly rubbed
against my broken skin and he inhaled slowly, releasing a long, almost painful breath. His eyes never left my wrist as he said, “There’s a lot of things you don’t know about me, Brooke.” He paused, bringing my arm up to his lips and gently kissing the tender wound. “I’ve a dark side to me yet.”

I laughed, waiting on him to glance up at me and smile; confirming that he was teasing me, but his eyes were still locked on my wrists. He moved his hand up to my palm and pulled my fingers down, running his forefinger across the tips of my fingers. He dug his nail underneath mine
, removing his dried blood from my nail.

I let out another laugh, but this one was nervous. “A dark side, huh?” I said as I jerked my hand free from his and laid it on the edge of the boat. “Are you in the Mexican drug cartel or something?” I jokingly smiled at him.

His head remained bowed but his eyes cut up at me sharply. His mouth lay straight across his face, no hint of a smile anywhere. “Don’t.”

The tone in his voice was almost threatening. It scared me.

Gavin stood up and walked back to the driver’s seat of the boat. He stood motionless, just staring down at the floor. Finally, he glanced up at me and shook his head. “I’m not ready to tell you. Don’t joke about it, Brooke. It’s a demon I’ve struggled with since I met you.”

My heart thumped ineptly in my chest and my throat knotted up. I stared at him through the blackness of the night. His eyes
were locked on mine in a cold stare as I walked toward him. A large swell lifted the boat, forcing me to grab onto the frame of the window to steady myself. Gavin’s eyes were still intently focused on mine in a riveting gaze.

“You tempt me in ways — ” he paused and raised his hand to his face, covering his eyes as his head bent forward. I watched his shoulders rise and then his head lift as he rubbed his hand slowly down his face stopping at his lips. His teeth sunk into the skin of his thumb, coaxing an agitated and primal grunt from him.

I hesitated. “So, you’re just going to allude to the fact that you have this dark side to you and not tell me what it is? I mean, Gavin, you’re freaking me out a little…”

It was almost as if his demeanor instantly changed. His stance relaxed and his face became soft again, less like stone.

“Don’t worry, It’s nothing for you to be afraid of.” He reached his hand down and felt for the keys. “Just a part of my life I’d hoped to keep buried.” He started the boat and sat down in the seat.

I stood with my hand still gripping the window, wishing I could force him to tell me what the hell kind of secret he was keeping from me.

“You need to sit down, love.” He looked around the horizon for the faint glow of lights from the shore and turned the wheel.

O
beying, I sat down quietly, watching him as we drove back toward shore. My thoughts were all over the place. I was terrified and irate at the same time. I’d given myself completely to this man, and now I realized there was some horrible part of him that I knew nothing of, something he felt he couldn’t tell me.

We pulled up to the pier and Gavin tied the boat to the post. I held onto the wooden pole as I pulled myself up out of the boat and headed
toward the house.

“You just going to leave me out here?” Gavin called out from the boat.

I continued to walk. “I’m sure you can find your way inside.”

I heard his feet hit the wooden boards of the pier and chase after me. He grabbed my right shoulder and spun me around.
Shaking his head furiously, he said, “You don’t understand. I never intended for it to go this way.” He removed his hand from my shoulder. “I never expected to
fall
for you!”

N
arrowing my gaze at him, I huffed out, “What? Gavin, what the hell does that have to do with anything?” I drew in a deep breath, afraid that I now knew what he was keeping from me. I could feel my nails dig into my palms. “There’s someone else, isn’t there?” My eyes filled with tears.

Gavin’s hands flew up to his head and he ran his fingers deep into his hair, pulling on it as he
brushed it back away from his face. Tossing his head back, he drew his elbows around his face. He let out a frustrated sigh. “No. God, no! There’s no one else! I’ve told you, there’s no one else for me. You’re it, Brooke. Why must you always go to that? This is much deeper than just you and I.” He dropped his arms to his sides. “You just have to trust me.”

I stared at him, looking him over carefully. With each breath my anger grew. He wasn’t making any sense and he was scaring me. “If you’re going to bring something like that up, you better be ready to tell me what the hell you’re talking about. Let’s not forget you still haven’t told me what girl came into your office.”

He stepped toward me. “Before you,” he grabbed the side of my face, tracing his thumb along my bottom lip, pulling down on it gently as he brought his face closer to mine. “Before you…” he paused again and pressed his lips to mine, covering me perfectly with his mouth.

I felt myself caving in, my anger wanting to vanish just from his touch.

He pulled away. “I was a different person, years ago – I was a different being,” he said.  He kissed me tenderly again, his tongue softly grazing the tip of mine.

I backed away from him and crossed my arms in front of my chest.

His hand rubbed across his shoulder and his eyes cut to the ground. “A different lifestyle, one I’m not sure you could understand, love,” he shamefully said.

“What kind of lifestyle, Gavin?” I glared at him. “You’re the one who brought this up, and I don’t see how something before me could have anything to do with your intentions of falling in love with me.”

“I shouldn’t have brought it up.” He walked past me toward the house. “As I said, you wouldn’t understand.” The condescending undertone of his voice flew all over me.

“What the fuck, Gavin?” I yelled at him.

“Not discussing it anymore,” he called back as he ascended the stairs.

I stomped up the stairs as he sat down in one of the patio chairs. I went past him into the house, closing the door behind me. I glanced out the window at him. He was sitting in the chair with one leg crossed over his knee, his eyes focused downward. He was hunched over, dragging the fingers of his right hand back and forth across the palm of his left. I could tell by his actions that whatever he was keeping from me was something that would most likely change the way I viewed him, and I hated him for that.
