To my disappointment, Harry does not slide the gelou inside of me. Instead, he rises and returns to toy to its spot in my dresser.

“What are you doing?” I ask, both surprised and irritated.

“This is a punishment,” he says simply.

Oh?

A punishment?

What am I?

A child?

I guess I pissed him off more than I meant to earlier, or maybe this is just what he meant when he said that I didn’t understand the power of the title Master.

“A punishment,” I repeat slowly, not quite grasping the entirety of what he’s saying.

“Aislin, if I was going to pleasure you and permit you to orgasm, that wouldn’t be much incentive to obey me in the future, now would it?” He frowns at me, letting the words sink in.

I shake my head, blushing in shame. I can’t believe I really thought that us having sex made up for my behavior. I should have known better than to assume my outburst would go without punishment. Now I find myself ashamed and embarrassed, clothed only in shreds of dignity that won’t last much longer.

I thought fooling around would make it all better.

I thought that getting to feel him inside of me would calm us both down.

“You are not to come, Aislin,” Harry tells me firmly, “until I tell you that you may. Do you understand me?”

I nod.

“Do you understand me?” He repeats, his voice harsher this time.

“Yes, Master.”

“Very well.” Harry turns and leaves the room. As soon as the door closes, I collapse on the bed in a fit of tears. It’s all too much to handle. As if losing Earth wasn’t bad enough. Now I can’t even have 30 seconds of something to help me forget.

What I wouldn’t give for some rum right now.

What I wouldn’t give for a vibrator of my own.

I glance toward the dresser, wondering for just a second whether or not I should sneak in there and grab the geolu. After all, Harry doesn’t have to know. It would be my little secret, right? I sigh with exasperation and frustration, knowing that it’s useless. I’m not going to disobey him. Even if he doesn’t catch me, I’ll know.

And I don’t really feel like living with myself, knowing that the only good thing going for me is tainted with lies.

Instead of trying to fight off the urge to masturbate, I close my eyes, wrap my arms around a pillow, and try to fall asleep. Somehow, despite my tossing and turning, I manage to drift off into a dreamless sleep where I’m free from all my worries.

Where I’m free from everything that holds me back.

Where I’m free from feeling awkward, shy, and out of my element.

Where all I feel is peace.

I wake when the ship stops.

“Peraoi,” I mumble as I sit up in bed. We’re here. We have to be here.

It’s been many days of trying to find the planet. Though Harry has been here many times, it doesn’t make finding the planet easier, apparently. There was a large storm that messed with some of the navigational equipment, so things took a little longer.

It doesn’t matter though.

All the time we spent searching, and now we’ve found it.

Peraoi.

I hurry out of my room and down the halls, quickly navigating my way to Harry. He’s smiling when I finally show up on the bridge. I’ll take it as a good sign. Though Harry has always been kind to me, most days he looks serious when I come find him. He’s been trained on locating this key to the point where I have to remind him to eat.

I just hope that once we find it, our world will slow down a little bit.

I actually want to
enjoy
my time in space: not spend every moment searching for things.

“Ready?” He grins.

I can only nod.

I’ve been stuck on this spaceship for far too long. While it sounds like a horrible complaint, especially coming from someone who, a few weeks ago, didn’t know about alien life forms
at all
, I’m more than ready to stretch my legs and expand my horizons.

In more ways than one.

Harry leads me to a small area in one corner of the room. He touches the wall in a series of patterns. It looks like he’s drawing invisible lines, but whatever he’s doing, it works.

A door slides open and we enter another small area. When the door closes behind us, Harry hits a button (a real, actual button) that opens the bottom of the ship.

There’s a ladder.

“Ladies first,” he smiles, but there’s no way in hell I’m getting off this thing before he does. I give him a look that screams, “You’ve got to be kidding,” and he goes first. I watch how he climbs and I try to imitate his step.

I may be an Earth girl, but I’m a clumsy one.

The last thing I want to do is fall and break a bone on an alien planet where
who knows
what kind of health care they have available. Then again, maybe breaking a bone in space is as simple as someone waving a geolu over me.

That might be nice.

Once my feet hit the ground, I’m ecstatic. I jump up and down a few times, just to be sure, but I’m quite thrilled to be on something solid. Then I turn and actually examine my surroundings.

“It’s beautiful,” I exclaim, looking around Peraoi. The island planet is, as promised, full of islands. The one we’re on seems to be one of the smaller ones. It’s round and just wide enough for the ship to land on. We’re standing in dirt, but the islands around us are filled with grass, flowers, and rocks. The water that separates them seems still, but it’s dark. I wonder how deep it is.

I realize, suddenly, that Harry must be an expert pilot to have carefully navigated his way to this particular landing spot so well. We aren’t close to Path, as far as I can tell, but maybe he planned it that way. After all, if we are being followed, it wouldn’t do us much good to have our pursuers find the exact rock we’ve been searching for.

At least, you know, not right away.

As if on cue, Harry smiles at me, glances up at his ship, and snaps his fingers.

The ship suddenly becomes camouflaged. Instead of looking like an alien aircraft, it now resembles a large rock. A long, single flower rests at the top of this boulder, distinguishing it from the other rocks I can see on.

At least if we get lost, we’ll be able to figure out which boulder happens to be our ship.

“Can’t be too careful,” he shrugs with a smile, and takes my hand. “Come on, Pet. Let’s go find Bleoi.”

“How are we going to get to the other islands?” I ask. Each island is separated by water. Unlike the waves of an ocean, this water is thick and syrupy and almost still. The idea of trying to swim through it seems impossible.

Maybe it’s just me being a wimp, but I feel worried as I peer over the edge of the island I’m on and look at it more closely. What if there are creatures lurking in it? What if there are dangers?

Harry points to a series of green lily pads.

“You must be joking,” I scowl. “What is this? A planet of islands or a planet of children’s stories?”

Sometimes, things here seem so fictitious and strange.

Part of me wonders if nightmares are really just things we remember from past visits to foreign planets because it sure feels like I’m reliving a lot of bad dreams these days.

“Swim if you like,” he comments, and begins walking quickly across the pads. I watch him for a moment. They look to be study enough. Harry hops from one to the next, never missing a step. When he reaches the other side, he turns to me, waiting.

“Well?” He asks. “What’ll it be?”

I peer over the edge of the island again. I can’t see anything beneath the water, but I imagine there’s movement. What if there’s a sea creature? What if there’s a shark?

With a sigh, I remind myself that Harry has never steered me wrong before. No, I haven’t known him for a long time. I have, however, never been hurt, injured, or left behind when he’s asked me to put my trust in him.

I close my eyes and jump to the first lily pad. It wobbles beneath my feet and a bit of water splashes up onto my foot.

“Open your eyes!” His shout frightens me.

I quickly open my eyes and meet his gaze. Then I look back down to the water, where there is
definite
movement.

“What is it?” I mouth to Harry.

He doesn’t respond. He just motions for me to hurry.

Five jumps and I’m across the pads and in his arms. He holds me tight, gently stroking my hair.

“What’s in the water, Harry?” I ask, not taking my eyes from the small ripples appearing around the tiny pads we just hopped across.

“It doesn’t matter,” he says. “You’re safe now. Let’s go.”

I shudder, thinking about how close I was to danger, but it doesn’t matter. Harry’s right. I’m safe. He’ll protect me. I know it.

Harry grabs my hand and pulls me through thick blades of grass. The ground feels steady beneath my feet, but I’m trying not to get used to it. I never know what to expect anymore. I never know what the world holds.

The grass is up to my waist. We’re practically wading through it. I can’t see anything but this open field. It looks like it goes on for miles in every direction. I turn back to peer at the place we parked the ship, but I can barely see it anymore. The boulder is just a speck in the distance.

And my legs are growing tired.

“How do you know where to go?” I ask.

“Peraoi is a fun place to come when you’re a rebellious teenager,” he chuckles. “I used to bring girls here.”

Oh.

I feel myself blush. Back on Earth, teenagers do all sorts of silly things when they’re in love or lust, when they want to be alone, when they need time to be away from adult supervision. The idea of Harry doing the same thing, millions of miles away, fascinates me.

And makes me feel an unusual surge of jealousy.

I wonder what, exactly, he did with these girls.

As if on cue, he turns to me and grins.

“Don’t worry. None of them were half as fun as you.” He pokes me in the side playfully, bringing me back to reality. A rush of excitement jolts through my body at his touch, and I grab his hand, pulling him close.

I’m not getting attached, I lie to myself as my lips move toward his. Harry’s hands are on my face now, kissing me tenderly as the wind blows around us, circling us in our own little world.

“We need to find the Key,” he whispers, and I nod.

“I know,” then I kiss him again.

There’s nothing wrong with taking a few minutes for ourselves, is there? We have, after all, been searching for the Key of Bleoi for a long time. Surely there’s time for a pit stop.

I wrap my arms around his waist.

The gesture is all that it takes.

He lays me down in the grass, pushing his green body against mine. Even here, Harry doesn’t wear a shirt, and his firm abs press against the pale, thin fabric of my dress. I run my hands down his chest to where his soft pants fit loosely around his hips.

And I push them down, freeing him.

A lot has changed since my days on Earth, and in a relatively fast time period. This place no longer feels like a dream. Now, it’s Earth that feels like a dream.

Now, it’s my days sipping drinks at bars that feel foreign.

It’s spending my time working at a thankless job that feels strange.

And when I’m wrapped up in Harry, somehow, I feel like this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.

If only I would learn to remember that nothing lasts forever.

His body thrusts into mine, entwining me in a perfectly synced dance. His skin melts into mine, burning me with the lust I’ve been feeling. His moans cover mine, giving me the protection I need and the satisfaction I’ve been craving.

Then, just as suddenly as it began, it ends.

“Shh,” he whispers, pulling away, yanking up his pants.

He cocks his head, then grabs my arm and pulls me to my feet.

“Run,” he whispers, and takes off.

I have no choice but to follow.

Harry races through the fields, pulling me close behind him. Within minutes, I’m out of breath and breathing heavily. Damn. I should have taken exercising more seriously in college, if only to build my endurance.

My large breasts bounce as we run through the grass. I regret not throwing a bigger tantrum about buying real clothes with a real bra, but there’s nothing I can do about that now. All I can do is follow Harry's lead.

Besides, I remind myself as we run, whining doesn’t get me much when it comes to Harry.

We run for at least 10 minutes, maybe more. Soon we see the edge of a forest up ahead. The trees are larger than any I ever saw on Earth. Each one has large, wide branches. I imagine what it must be like to be a kid here and climb up those trees. Too bad the planet seems to be primarily uninhabited. I wonder why that is and I make a mental note to ask Harry later.

You know, when we aren’t racing toward the trees.

“Come,” Harry beckons me, urging me to keep following.

But everything hurts, and I want to collapse.

His long legs take the trek in stride, not even breaking a sweat. Do aliens sweat? While his green body is camouflaged against the green blades of the field, my pale body stands out, making us an easy target for whatever we’re running from.

Finally, reaching the wood, we stop. There’s a long stream that runs between the field and the forest, but Harry clears it easily, pulling me with him. I jump quickly, barely making it across, barely making it into the darkness of the trees.

Then we stop.

“What the hell?” I pant, placing my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath.

Harry seems to be looking for something. He’s peering out, back into the field, watching.

“Mira,” he says slowly.

“What?”

“Mira,” he frowns, this time turning back to me. “She knows where I was going. She’s here.”

“How can you tell?”

He taps his nose.

“I know her scent,” he says.

I’m not sure whether to be relieved that he can smell his ex-lover or be upset that he still remembers her scent. Either way, his nose just saved us from a rather unpleasant run-in with someone that I still can’t see.

“I don’t see anything,” I whine, crossing my arms over my chest. I’m not questioning him. Really, I’m not. I’m
sure
she’s there if he said that she is. But where?

“Watch the ship,” he comments.

I peer out across the field and can barely make out the tiny boulder that is Harry’s ship. As the wind blows, though, my vision seems to change. I feel like I’m looking at a mirage. I feel like I’m trying to look at something through a thin stream of water.

“Her ship is invisible,” I realize. And it’s parked next to Harry’s. No wonder I didn’t see it.

He nods.

“It’s not hers. She doesn’t have a ship, but she may have hired someone from Liaue.”

“What’s Liaue?”

“A world of secrets, thieves, and mercenaries,” Harry grits his teeth. “And if that’s what she’s done, we need to go. We need to go
now
, Aislin.”

He grabs my hands and leads me deeper into the forest.

So much for enjoying Peraoi.
