“Christ, you’re good at that,” I growl.

“You’re really worked up,” she purrs. I feel her breath on me and look down to see her mouth hovering next to my erection. Her eyes connect with mine from behind my cock and she gives me a teasing little smile. I want her to take me in her mouth so bad that I can barely think of anything else.

“It’s been a very long day…” I explain.

“Just sit back and relax. I’ll help take your mind off of everything.”

That’s the best idea I’ve heard in a long time.

I close my eyes and let a smile spread across my face as I do exactly what I’m told.

Chapter 16

Sofie

I take Calvin in my mouth and begin working him, vigorously. He’s so wound up that I don’t expect him to last very long, so I’m surprised when I’m still going at it at least ten minutes later. Finally, he lets out a growl and pulls me away from his cock. It’s bright red and looks like it’s about to burst at any second, but apparently Calvin wants even more.

I let out a whimper as he flips me over onto the couch. He stands over me, his hard body on display. There’s a tug at the corner of his lips as he lets his eyes fall down to my breasts, and then even farther down to my legs. I squirm beneath the weight of his gaze. No matter how many times I’ve felt it before, the pressure of his stare is still powerful.

“What are you waiting for?” I ask, unable to take it any longer.

“Just admiring your beauty.”

His answer makes me squirm even more.

“You know you don’t have to say things like that—I’m already going to sleep with you.”

“I don’t say them so that you’ll sleep with me. I say them because they’re the truth.”

I chew my lip and stare down at his angry cock.

“You’ve made me wait long enough. I don’t want to wait any longer.”

He sinks to his knees, the smirk on his face spreading into a full smile.

“You’re one to talk about making people wait…”

Calvin spreads my legs wide, revealing the black lace panties I’m wearing beneath my dress. He grabs the panties with both hands and in one quick motion he tears apart the soft fabric near my hip. With one loop broken, he’s easily able to slide what’s left of my panties off of my other leg.

I give him a look.

“You know, those were expensive…”

He cocks an eyebrow even while lowering his lips closer to my soaked vagina.

“Does that mean I should stop?” he asks.

His warm breath washes over my exposed center, sending excited tingles throughout my body. I shake my head, quickly.

“No, no… I’ll just add it to your tab,” I say, giving him a playful smile.

“You do that,” he growls.

And then he buries his face into my sensitive folds.

My legs stretch as far apart as they can possibly go and I let out a whine of pleasure as Calvin’s tongue delves deeper and deeper inside of me. He shakes his head from side to side, his nose rubbing against my sensitive clit. I gasp for a breath as pleasure threatens to tear me apart. Distantly, I’m almost embarrassed by how fast an unexpected orgasm tightens and then explodes from within me.

Calvin’s mouth opens even wider and he buries his tongue as deep as it can go. He laps up the juices flowing through me. Most of his face is hidden, buried deep in my vagina, but his beautiful blue eyes still connect with mine, watching me, piercing right through me as though he’s looking directly into my soul.

In his eyes, I can still see everything I’ve ever wanted. I can still see all of the promises that I’d thought were broken all those years ago. I can still see all of the dreams that I’d thought were lost. In them, I can still see myself—the love of Calvin’s life.

How could I have ever doubted him? How could I have let anyone—especially someone like Wade Foster—convince me that Calvin is anything but true to me?

Never again.

Never again will I doubt this man’s affections for me. Never again will I believe the words of another over his. Never again will I have to be scared of the future or what is to come, because in those blue eyes I can see the man that is going to be with me through all of it. No matter what happens.

It’s only been moments since the first, but as all of these thoughts become a clear realization, another orgasm tears through me, turning my thoughts into a jumbled mess. Calvin groans in pleasure, sending little vibrating ripples into all of my sensitive parts. The beaming in his eyes makes me wonder if he can taste the very essence of what I’m feeling in this moment.

Maybe can taste exactly how I’m feeling. Maybe he knows the taste because it’s the exact same way he’s felt all along…

Chapter 17

Sofie

Calvin grunts loudly as he slams his cock deeper and deeper into my aching center. Sweat beads and glistens on his hard chest as his hands keep my legs high in the air. Calvin’s Egyptian cotton sheets are soft but quickly becoming soaked with the intensity of our sex.

After having sex a couple times at the club, we somehow managed to make it back to Calvin’s apartment. The trip gave us more than enough time to recover, and by the time we stumbled through his door we were once again pulling each other’s clothes off. The fact that Calvin’s shirt was already torn open in the front made it easier to take off for the second time.

The sex has been fantastic. I lost count of how many times Calvin has made me come. Finally allowing myself to really open up to him has changed everything. All of the inhibitions I’d once had were left somewhere in the dark hallways of
Club Addiction
, hopefully never to be found, again.

Calvin lets out another grunt and slams himself into me, one more time. There’s a subtle difference in the sound he makes, this time, and it sends a heightened thrill of anticipation through me. A few thrusts later, his cock tenses and jerks and he finally explodes. He’s wearing a condom like he always does, but every burst of his orgasm sends a pulse through his cock that I can feel. It’s such a small thing, but it creates an intensely intimate connection.

When it’s over, Calvin slumps next to me on the bed. I give him a wide, satisfied smile.

“That was a big one,” I say.

“They’re all big with you.”

“I’m surprised you have anything left down there… I’ve never seen you come that much in one night.”

He grins and wraps an arm around me, pulling me close to him on the bed.

“What can I say? You just know how to turn me on.”

There’s a narrow spot along Calvin’s hard chest that I love. I wriggle myself until I find it.

“I don’t think you need to say anything more than that,” I say, softly, after closing my eyes and taking a few slow breaths.

We lay there for a time, just holding each other. Calvin’s heartbeat thumps strongly in his chest, and a few minutes pass before it slows to its normal rhythm. I don’t think life can get any more peaceful than it is in this moment. There’s not a single thing that I want to change, other than knowing that the moment will have to end, eventually. However, despite the peace, a tiny seed of guilt creeps its way into my chest.

“I’m sorry for not trusting you,” I say.

Calvin looks down at me, his brow scrunching together.

“What are you talking about?”

Has he really already disregarded what happened earlier tonight? Is he really that quick to forgive and forget?

“I should have known better than to believe a single word that comes out of Wade’s mouth. I should have known that he was just trying to manipulate me. I’m starting to think that’s the only thing he’s actually any good at.”

Calvin nuzzles his cheek against the side of my head and gives me a soft kiss.

“Don’t be so hard on yourself. Besides, he wouldn’t be so convincing if I hadn’t given you a reason to doubt me in the first place.”

I shake my head.

“I don’t doubt you. Not anymore. And not ever again. I love you, and that’s really all that matters.”

Calvin kisses me on the head again and I find a way to nuzzle myself even deeper into his arms. I just want to lay here forever with him. I don’t ever want to have to leave. There’s so much peace here. Everything is so simple. Everything just works… When I let it.

“Let’s get out of here,” Calvin says, breaking the silence.

I bite my lip, nervous.

“Do you need to get back to the club?” I ask, trying to hide the disappointment I feel about him needing to go back to work. But it is a Friday night, and I kind of dragged him away from his responsibilities. I’m just lucky he was able to spend as much time with me as he has.

“No, that’s not what I mean. Let’s
really
get out of here. Let’s go some place far away. Some place where we can start making new memories and start filling up that blank board.”

Calvin’s tone is flat and honest. There’s not even the slightest hint of a joke in what he said.

“You’re serious, aren’t you?”

He nods.

“I’ve never been more serious. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.”

“But what about the club? What about your work? You told me it would fall apart without you…”

He shrugs.

“Then let it fall apart. I’m starting to realize that there are more important things in life than work.” He gives me an intense look, then a smile spreads across his face. “Besides, I’ve been told I’m a bit of a control freak. Maybe the place would be better off without me.”

I roll my eyes but can’t stop the smile he puts on my face. Hearing those words come from him is almost surprising. He’s only saying them for my benefit. I know as well as he does that no one can live up to the standard that Calvin sets for himself. And that makes what he said all the more meaningful.

“You really would walk away from all of it, wouldn’t you?” I ask.

He considers the question for all of a half second before his head tilts in a simple nod.

“Sofie, I’ve been a complete mess ever since you came back into my life. Whether you meant to or not, you forced me to consider things I’ve never wanted to think about before. And, thanks to you, I’ve been able to learn a great many things.”

“Like what?”

Calvin pauses a moment before responding. My heart quickens in anticipation of what he’s about to say.

“I learned that I’ve built an empire around myself so that I wouldn’t have to confront the things I never wanted to face. Everything I’ve done since I drove you away has been to protect myself from realizing that I would never again find real happiness. But now that you’re back in my life, more and more the things I built to protect myself feel like a prison. It feels like the whole city is weighing me down, and I want nothing more than to be free of it. I don’t want to mix you in with all of the mistakes I’ve made over the years. I want build
our
life—together—instead of trying to figure out how to work with what we’ve got.” His lips purse into a thin smile before he presses them against my forehead. “But, ultimately, what I realized is that my place is by your side—whether it be in New York City or anywhere else. I’ll be happy as long as you’re with me.”

By the time he finishes, my heart is pounding furiously in my chest. I’m dizzy from all of the thoughts and emotions running through my head. But even still, a single response manages to find its way to my lips.

“How soon can we leave?”

Chapter 18

Sofie

“You’re really doing this, aren’t you?”

Aimee leans against the corner of my cubicle. There’s an amused smile on her face while she watches me pack my personal belongings into a single brown box.

I give her an excited smile.

“I don’t know what came over me. It’s just… When Calvin suggested it, it sounded right.”

Aimee beams at me.

“I underestimated you, Sofe. You’re even crazier than me.”

I don’t agree with what she said, but we share a laugh, anyway. Running away with Calvin isn’t crazy at all. In fact, it’s probably the sanest thing I’ve ever done.

No. We’re not running
away
. Running away is something that I’ll never do again. We’re running
towards
something. Something magical. Something I’ve always wanted. Something that will be
ours
.

“It’s not forever or anything, I’ll be back before you know it,” I say, though I honestly don’t know that it’s the truth.

“You’d better be. I don’t really feel like looking for a new roommate.”

She gives me a sideways look, even though we both know that Calvin gave her a check to cover my part of the rent for the rest of the year. He even threw in a little extra for utilities and any other incidentals that might come up while I’m gone.

“It’s not like I’m going to a third world country or anything. We’re just vacationing in Europe for a little while—I still expect full updates on everything going on with Logan.”

Aimee rolls her eyes and tries to play it cool. But she can’t hide a little twinkle of excitement. She must really have it bad for her rich Wall Street guy. Good for her. She’s a good girl, even if she can be a little… adventurous… at times.

Suddenly, the phone rings, interrupting our playful banter. I glance down and am surprised by the name on the Caller ID.

Wade Foster
.

My brow crinkles in confusion even as nervous butterflies erupt in my stomach. Aimee leans in over my shoulder to see what I’m looking at.

“What in the world does
he
want?” she says, not even trying to hide her disgust. She’s been fully updated on the situation and swore to me that every girl in Marketing would soon be sharing the gossip that one of the VPs contracted gonorrhea from a one-night stand.

I shrug my shoulders, still confused by seeing his name pop up on my phone. This is the first time Wade has ever called me directly. Usually he has Claire call me on his behalf.

“This is Sofie,” I say, finally answering the phone after its fourth ring. I try to keep my voice neutral, as though I’m so busy with something that I didn’t even glance at the caller ID before answering.

“We need to talk,” he says, immediately.
